You do understand that isn't a 1 to 1 tradeoff, right? The fine details or "greebling" you bring up quite often is really just a simple portion of the computer design that is basically just the finishing touches of a mostly developed part. Adding or removing some of the fine lines and details is only going to add or save very little cost in total. Adding in panels and putting plastic resources in places where there isn't already a part mostly designed is a bit more complicated than just choosing the finished details. That would mean adding additional parts, which would require additional mold resources as well as more on the assembly process.
Hasbro can easily stop the "greebling" but that won't lead to more plastic elsewhere.

I'll at least check out the variant Hot Rod.

Here's hoping it's a cartoon accurately colored Hot Rod in magenta for the first time ever.

If it's that, I'll definitely pick him up.
Changewinds wrote:Considering Blaster is red, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a Target exclusive, but Target exclusives have been easier for me to find than Walmart exclusives. But, I’d be happy if he’s a general release since that means online sellers won’t be marking him up and he’ll be easier to find in general.

I had higher expectations for the Sharkticon. I'm glad we have it and I'll buy three to add to my army, but it isn't better than either deluxe sized Sharkticon 3Ps made already.

What do you mean by “wireframe”?

So is this replacing the version that people thought was going to be done in toy colors?
And yeah, this is going to be tough to pull-off.
The idea seems better suited for a statue imo.
Especially if it’s going to be a partial “reformatting”.
Also makes me think it could involve some semi-transparent, purple plastic.
But I could also see this being used for Cyclonus & Scourge to get another use of those molds.
Not a huge fan of this idea.
But who knows... Maybe Hastak has it all sorted & it’s amazing.

This is not replacing anything, as far as it sounds. Separate listings exist for this "Unicron Galvatron" and for the Selects Toy Colors Galvatron, so the two certainly aren't mutually exclusive, and we've been hearing from the credible sources since they started talking about Kingdom Galvatron's existence that Hasbro is very confident in this mold and intends to use it multiple times (which is part of where speculation of an Energon Megatron repaint and/or armor parts originally came from), this just lines up with that.ZeroWolf wrote:Sowndwave76 wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:That's going to either look super synthwave or tacky...can't see a middle ground here

I think it's in addition to the toy Galvatron...so we're getting three uses of the mold...I think

Which kind of begs the question of why they used Megatron for SG Megs rather than the Galvatron mold, since it more closely matches the original SG Megs since it used the Energon mold.
It would be interesting to see if they do give this Galvs wings and a jet mode of some kind.

I see your point in that question... Isn't SG Megatron based on the ER version? If so, Hastak probably wanted to use that mold again.
It seems to me that the SG line is being centered more on color schemes than specific molds.
Which I'm not saying is ideal, but seems this was an issue for Starscream as well in some peoples' opinions.

He is based on the Siege one, actually. The current SG line focuses on keeping the original body (to keep them recognizable to the broader general public and not just the fans), but changing colors and heads. Nothing else. For the figures so far released, it works, with Megatron straddling the limits, but a possible SG Galvatron... ho boy.
