I am kinda hoping we dont change directors b/c then it just wont be and feel the same, I hope we get new writters though but for some reason I like what bay did and i hope shia comes back do you think he will? They did make a great amount of money off of ROTF

Bay will be back, just Steven Spielberg has to have him back on the tighter leash like he was in the first Transformers movie.

Also, with the money TF2 is making, they have no excuse to not include more Autobots this time.

Third times a charm right? I liked both movies, so i hope he does return.
Personally, i think he and the writers did listen to the fans for the second time around.
Fans wanted more bots...We got more bots.
More clear slowed down action scenes,... we got'em.
More character development... We got it. (OK, not from every bot)
Fans wanted Devastator,... we got him
Fans got to vote on one(or was it two) bots they wanted to see in the next film,.... We got it.

Granted not everything everyone wanted was done this time around, but there is progression.
Even though this movie is making a killing, Bay and company would be fools not to at least consider some of the criticism that this movie is receiving when making a third film....

Or maybe he'll just figure its to much trouble, and think no matter what he or the current/new writers do, people will always find something to bitch about and will never be happy. So he'll just pass. But my guess is that he likes money, so he'll be back.

Megatron and Starscream at least getting away.. I can see a 3rd film, I suppose.

Bay wants to do other films before he does TF3. So if he comes back, the movie won't come out for 4-5 years. Which is fine, it might give time to writers to write a good story, and technology will also advance more, perhaps giving us better graphics and easier ways to film the robots. In which case there should be a lot more of them. I'd like to see the story go back to cybertron. For a mechanical world filled with mechanical beings, they would need a LOT of CGI.

i feel that if it takes 2-4 years to make peter cullen wont be optimus and optimus isnt him unless peter cullen is doing the voice

With the money he's making from it, he'd be an idiot not to do a third. He may turn out to be an idiot, of course.

My question really is, because I *am* sympathetic to the Bay hatred out there...

If not Bay, well, then, who?

And you can't just say 'jeez, anyone!'. Anyone remember the toxic stank that was the Hulk movie when oh-so-painfully-hip director Ang Lee got done? Do you really want the Coen brothers (though I do love them) to get all nihilistic and cynical all over your Prime?

Seriously, I admit Bay isn't PERFECT, but I can sure think of a lot WORSE choices. So, help me out, who would do better?

Despite what people say, I want Bay to stay the course. Was both the movies perfect, no, but who else has made a kick butt giant transforming robots movie?(someone can go out and make a Go-bot movie to compare heh) Its really the first of its kind. This new ground, Im sure 20 years from now they can make an all CGI film for chump change since the technology will have existed and been perfected.

Bay just needs finish out his trilogy. If thats where it stops then, someone else can reboot in a couple years and do it all their way thats fine. Lets not have them pull an Xmen 3 where we suddenly see a different director and its all very disjointed from the first two.

I look forward to the third installment..We are here...We are waiting....

I hope so.

Like him or not, he's the best director for a movie like Tranformers. Transformers isn't and has never been about story or character (except Beast Wars). It's an excuse to sell toys and create scenarios for giant robots to fight and look awesome. Watching S1 of G1 on DVD showed me that.

Throw in a few Baysplosions and it's everything Transformers is supposed to be. Less talk, more rock.

If Tarantino directed there would be an hour of some Autobot going on about how Primus is just a myth created to keep everyone in line and follow rules. And then Ironhide would walk in and say how full of crap he is and that no one like him because he talks to much.

Jolt had none. Every other Autobot had at least two lines. Except Bumblebee, of course. Arcee had one at the beginning, then one later in Egypt. (Something along the lines of "We'll take you to Prime") Ironhide had a handful of lines, in particular "I smell him..." as well as the extreme outrage at the humans pointing weapons at him. Ratchet had a few lines, including overseeing Jetfire's parts being transplanted onto Optimus. Sideswipe had a few lines while chasing Sideways, as well as a few during the battle in Egypt.

EDIT: Bay has to stay for Part 3. Look what happened to X-Men. Bryan Singer left, Brett Ratner comes in, and then it all just goes to hell. And don't tell me Bryan Singer would be better, he did Superman Returns after all.

I'm not all that keen on Bay - you only have to watch the making of on the TF1 dvd to see his attitude towards the franchise, he's made no secret of the fact he dislikes Transformers. Granted, he makes things blow up very well, and does a good action scene.

John Woo can do all the explosions and action that Bay can, just as well if not better, and is a better director IMHO

The last I had heard, although I have no sources to post to back this up, the core cast/crew was contracted for 3 movies. So it's not a matter of if but when. After TF3 I can see Hasbro and Bay parting ways if the possibility of continuing the franchise comes up. Bay stepped on alot of peoples toes this last time around even if he did make some serious bank for Hasbro. With the new network/merger starting hasbro is really going to have to watch it's image and I think having Bay continue to do the movies will hurt that. Reatinig Spielberg as Exec. Prod. is the way to go but now that the Movie has generatred plenty of buzz and cash world-wide, I can see them toning things down after TF3 and focusing more on targeting kids and not everybody.
I think this would be the smartest approach for this franchise. But who knows. bay was so burned out after TF2 that doing his laid-back movie may bring him back with a somewhat different perspective for TF3. I also think that the writing team needs to be replaced now and someone new brought in to start working on it asap so they can take their time in generating a 3rd story. The rushed, fly-by-the-seat-of-the-pants approach for this last one was only for Bays benefit and not for the franchises'.

Right about now is the point where I start questioning my own sanity. At least I'm going to cover my a$$ going into this one...
While the action fan in me agrees entirely with you 5150, I'm going to play devils advocate again and ask what you think might work well for the kids that will no doubt be seeing TF3. Sure, we as adult males are going to enjoy the hell out of Bays return and thrill in the bot melee we know is coming (and Megan Fox) but is our take on things really in Hasbros best interest? They do kind of have the whole franchise in the palm of their hand and their target demographic is ultimately what they will cater to.

I know, so totally the kind of questions you didn't want to hear. I'm a wet blanket, I know. But it is just one of many ways to look at it and I did still side with the action aspect too. I'm not a total downer. 8-}
