Problem is, if you need a complete back story on each Tf for them to have development, then nearly no TF in any universe from G1 to the movies have had what you define as development. In the case of Ironhide, your correct. He is the "Shoot first, ask questions later" kind of warrior. You don't need to be told that. His actions define it.
I will agree that more dialog would have been better. That point I'm not arguing. But for all intents and purposes, Ironhide has been a warrior, and this is what he was portrayed as. We don't need a huge back story as to why he became one to get that point across is all I'm saying.

I should note that my comment that you quoted above was not entirely directed at Ironhide's character. As i said, i believe there are more than a few characters in the movies that had development. Some more than others, and admittedly, some not at all.

i was not saying that development was needed. but i find it hard to believe that you can argue that there was development.

what development was there, considering each character had three to four lines, which were either exposition or inane jokes.

the robots were given one line characters, and dialogue to reflect this. essentially it was like armaggeddon, each character in that was the same, one not and no development.

thats fine if thats what you want. i would rather fewer bot and cons with more screen time and dialogue for those that were in it

I'm bummed Ironhide died.He was supposed to be the strong warrior that overcame his enemies.Sure, he went down like a pussy.But he just...Completes the team.Now it's only Optimus

I was saddened that Ironhide died...BUT...I, as a fan, marked out by it, since they did it in a fashion obviously mirroring his death in 86's movie. Im surprised no one has mentioned this

Also, he was shot in the back by someone he completely trusted and revered. If anyone is a pussy in that situation, it's Sentinel for being a back fighter. I wonder what would have happened had Sentinel faced Ironhide, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Dino, and the human soldiers face-to-face. I think he might have gotten whipped. Or held up long enough for Prime to get there.

Oh and on a side note, I'm sorry but anyone who thinks Ironhide, (or pretty much any other bot), had any character development whatsoever, doesn't actually understand the term "character development".

I'm not quite sure. If Sentinel had faced all of them, then there probably wouldn't have been many IF any survivors. With his double-bladed sword, shield and the Acid-rust cannon (it was called so sometime, right?) he probably would have killed any bot standing in the way even if they knew he was gonna do it. I'm afraid that Ironhide had no chance at all. Also, he did prove to be more than Optimus could have handled.

is quite incorrect, for the above reasons I stated. Also, if he faced all the Autobots, I don't think he'd have time to pick them all off one at a time. He'd get that acid rust cannon (I think it was referred to it as such in the book only) knocked out of his hand. And the blade can be avoided, as was shown in the film by Bumblebee and Sideswipe, dodging away from him. I believe he could do a lot of damage, even kill a few Autobots, but he'd lose the fight. And yes, he did prove to be way much more than Optimus could handle. Sentinel bitch-slapped Optimus on 3 different occasions. Though the first time was totally unexpected.

Also, he was shot several times by an instant kill weapon. If past incarnations of Cosmic Rust are anything to go by. IronHide was tough enough to take it, so uh...Sentinel knew the only way to kill IH was to shoot him in the back, yeah...

I didn't say I agree with that statement. I also find that his death was uncalled for and that he was stricken down unfairly. Sentinel probably considered him a collateral damage, but as he posed no direct threat, I'm not saying that Sentinel is a p.u.s.s.y, but I agree that his action was rather dishonorable and the act of the weak, cowardly and treacherous. That gave him about one third of a reason to execute him from behind.

Ironhide was a hero. He didn't deserve to be stroked from the behind. But that's how it has been. Heroes are sometimes relieved of by unfair tactics.

I agree with that. He was killed off to get the story going on Sentinel's betrayal and get people to hate him. Which, in my experience, worked.
