TO BE RELEASED AS IMAX® FILM SEPTEMBER 21, 2007



One of the Biggest Movies of 2007 Gets Digitally Enhanced into The IMAX Experience®



LOS ANGELES, CA, August 21, 2007 -- IMAX Corporation, DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures announced today that “TRANSFORMERS,” one of the highest grossing movies of the year, will be digitally re-mastered into IMAX’s immersive format and released to IMAX® theatres on September 21. The Michael Bay-directed movie, which has already generated $310 million in gross box office receipts domestically since its premiere in conventional theaters on July 3, will be enhanced into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® through IMAX’s DMR® (Digital Re-Mastering) technology.



“IMAX’s all-encompassing format takes ‘TRANSFORMERS’ to a whole new level of detail and intensity,” said Michael Bay, the film’s director. “I am very excited to work with the team at IMAX to create this turbo-charged version.”



“As fans of ‘TRANSFORMERS’ await the release of the DVD in the fall, they will have a brand new way to experience the adventure -- as if they are actually part of the movie,” said IMAX Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs Richard L. Wechsler. “The images and sound in ‘TRANSFORMERS’ are perfectly suited to The IMAX Experience and we are very excited to share the IMAX version with the film’s present and future fans.”

This film has been rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi action violence, brief sexual humor and language.

PG-13? Ehhh....ok. Was hoping it'd be Rated R now, but thats fine. Aslong as I get allll that AND the extra scenes.

Just to bad this isn't for next summer, by then I'll have an IMAX within walking distance, and it would be a nice threat to resee it then.

Interesting that they talk about the fall DVD release. I guess this basically confirms the October 16 date.

It's great to see that it's now official. However, the press release doesn't mention anything about the new footage we heard about before. I hope that wasn't just wishful thinking on someone's part. Oh, well. I'll still see it in IMAX regardless.

I just hope this comes to the UK IMAX aswell. But i assume it will be worldwide, I mean... its an IMAX thing.

Sounds good to me. I have an IMAX across the river in NYC so not too bad. Maybe this time they'll get Brawl's name right.

I'm torn, after Paramount's decision on Blu-Ray, why should I give them any more of my money??? F@#k them.

they are, the canadian cineplex site has the press release as well...now will all canadian imax theaters get it ? i sure hope so...cuz mine needs a first visit from me..lol

I'm gonna see it, I have an IMAX close by here in Baltimore.
It'd be cool to see it in 3D, but that'd be mondo expensive for Paramount.

are they going to change the content as well, adding or deleting scenes?

i've seen it going on four times already but to hear Peter Cullen in larger than life surround sound , "my bad", not gonna miss this. explosions are always good too

I'll be curious to see if with the limited number of IMAX theaters is they will be enough interest to boost TF's 07 tally above that of Shrek the Third. It would need to add just over $13 million to get it past Shrek to lay claim to 2nd highest US grossing film of 2007.
