I don't see it.

I'm a bit confused as to why UT is working on characters that have already been done, but I guess the Go-Bots characters don't have all that much repaint potential otherwise...
Could it also be that this is intended to fill a MP slot? It seems just a little big for my classics...
but i dont think it would "fit" right with the MP's either. when making this mold they should have seriously looked at generations and MP scale, and chose one. not something in between that looks like it fits neither.

Another thing as to why not , if this is a MP figure then wouldn't that make the Crasher repaint , Cykill and Wreck-gar MP too being from the same line .

At least with Go-Bots, they can stand a little apart from the Transformers, being a different continuity or whatever. :D

That's how the race cars used to look.

Here's one of Drag Strip. :D

(Actually, that last one might be a different car. I seem to remember a couple of different twin front axle race cars...)

Sorry, I just have fun looking at older cars (and planes!)

Still think D031 is the best Mirage update to created so far. For me the increased Voyager scale is a bonus.

Since this is being made by UT-DX9, I'm going to play it smart and wait for the eventual clearance sale. When the price drops near $50 to $60 then I'll pull the trigger and buy it.

Totally agree . The more i look at DX9 Mirage the more i don't like the classics figure .

I would expect Takaras MP to look something like this but a lot better .

but see, the classics figure is a different aesthetic. classics is a modern re-imagination of G1, not a direct update of engineering. and sorry, ive played this harp a lot, but thats not what "classics/generations" is to me. i go to the MP line for direct updates. this mirage, is way to close an MP. and on that note, i wouldnt touch 3P MP's with a 10 foot pole.

Totally get what your saying Shajaki .

But for me i need what i think is the best representation of a character i can get , i don't have a Mirage anymore and there's no way i would pick it back up over this one now .

While it might be boarder line MP ? we all know Takaras will always out shine making this look suitable for classics ;)

As for 3rdp MP again i know what mean and at the minute 3rdp aren't really doing anything Takara wont have lined up soon , and MP is a line i do partially think should be pure but time to time the devil gets in you're ear

Quakewave broke the 3P MP barrier for me long ago.

If this fits better as an MP, then he will place hold for a while.

He does have some issues Megs. Iirc, the original concept for Mirage by Alex whatshisname (the designer) was a less lanky/skinny Mirage.

But still a great mold/design overall Tsu. If it sucked so much, the henkei version of his is sooooooooooo hard to catch in the 2ndary market. But then again, eacg of us have our own preferences.

Hopefully Tomy will release an MP of Rieje.

Had Hasbro 1.0 Mirage on a display shelf for a while. Due to the skinny frame and skinny tall legs, It took a while to pose the robot mode into a stable pose. That's one of the main reasons, I dislike the toy. Second reason is it looks like a streched out BM Cheetor toy. Just don't like skinny long legs and a skinny frame on a male robot TF toy. That's why I overly dislike the AOE Voyager Optimus toy.

ive had a few classics mirages (hasbros, botcon MW,henkei clear) and ive always been able to get solid poses. and TF's that dont turn into a standard blocky robot are neat. its nice to have diversity.

This is Alex Kubalsky's original Mirage design

Of course, the aforementioned product you detest.

Iirc, in one of the articles where Kubalsky was auctioning his works, Mirage didn't come out 100% the way he wanted.

Ninety-Five percent of my 3rd party TF purchases is based off how I like the toy or not.

That last Five percent does depend on how good or bad the 3rd party box looks. A awesome box can tip the scale just enough to make me buy the toy or not. It worked with MT Green Giant.

Loved the DX9-UT Wreckgar toy. The reason I didn't buy DX9-UT Wreckgar was because of that Awful box style and art. That I thought looked like a badly done cheaply priced 1980's kids square school lunch box. Maybe if the toy gets clearanced to $40 to $50, might buy it.

For Wreckgar, It's a Shame DX9-UT didn't use the higher class box style and art that they used for Gobots Salmoore-Cykill.

Hoping HasTak or TFCC does a Mirage repaint and retool using the Combiners Wars Drag Strip toy. If they decide to, I'd probably like it better than the 1.0 Mirage toy.
