He looks so much better without that stupid chest wing like in the cartoon.

Scale and colors are not the main reasons, I buy newer TF toys.
The main reason i'm not buying this Chigurh toy. Is I feel it has a extreme ugly and weird looking robot mode. Think the toy's greatest suffer is the misproportion parts all over the robot mode. Huge ugly sculpted feet and ugly looking thin thighs. long torso, too narrow thin waist plate sculpt put on a bulky toy.

I have to agree with Tsu here. The proportions on this look pretty weird. ToyWorld for me.

The two astrotrains come down to either wanting the g1 toy look or the g1 cartoon look it's not like there based off the same design
Personally im not fussed on either but if i was to get one it would be DX9 for the cartoon likenes for a better fit with official mp

sure he's lanky, but i dont see what the "odd proportions" everyone else is seeing.

Wondering what the modifications were?
Feel there is a release race going on with these Two 3rd party Astrotrains. Speculating if the Modification on Chigurh will make Devilstar get released first.
Think those One Dimensional paper thin, flat board sculpted thighs look the worse on the robot mode. Putting overly thick lower legs with rocket booster chunky feet make the thin thighs stand out even worse.

What on earth is going on with that crotchplate? From the waist up he looks OK (although he needs more paint apps and he could do with his chest fin) but his legs are a disaster.

Looks like the crotch plate pulls out when doing a crouched pose , i do find the torso to be a bit long when folded down , some colour should help break it up .
This is still a unfinished prototype more paint apps will follow.
He never had a chest plate in the cartoon so he doesn't need one.
The legs don't look as wierd in grey as they did in black to me for some reason.
I really like the look of this photo , the price however is £109 gonna wait for the finished product but as for now this is the only mp sized AT based off the cartoon , i could see me buying this.

Speculating, the robot mode made sacrificies to make the other modes looks better.

The chest wing was in the G1 toy. In the cartoon it was on his back.

I'm more interested in that UT Abonimus in this pic. suppose the thing i'm now wondering most is. If the guy has UT Abonimus. Then why couldn't the guy do a few pics of UT Hun-gurr.

Nothing really new here as it looks like the con from a couple of month back but you can see how tall he is from the inhand pics and in some of the pics you get an idea of how he sizes up to Apollyon and Andras and OMP cars
Oh and the huge gap behind his head ! it would be really lame if they dont have that covered on the final product , can't tell from the new colored test shot because of the angle its on

in the beginning i was totally for DX9, but even with the wrong colors i like TW's astrotrain way more now. theyd have to pull some kind of witchcraft with the paint apps on this guy to get me back on board.

I've not fully committed to this yet meaning i haven't paid the pre order, but if i think this guy flops when the final figure is shown i will wait on another project
I have no interest in TW it does nothing for me at all , it's not that i hate it or anything there is things i don't like about it like the head chest legs but i don't feel the need to constantly put it down it's just theres nothing about that robot that fits my needs , i'm not after a voyager Astrotrain based on the G1 toy .

I'm interested to see this and the toyworld version alongside generations leader Jetfire. They're both troop carriers for their respective factions so in my mind they should be a similar size.

He's never portrayed that large, anywhere, that I know of...

isnt he kinda-sort-of? in TFTM he housed all the decepticons including a merged devastator. though never taller than megatron. but its because of that movie magic (ei:nonsense) that i wouldnt mind having a huge astrotrain on my C/G display (probably in vehicle modes).megatronus wrote:He's never portrayed that large, anywhere, that I know of...Lord Raze wrote:I'm interested to see this and the toyworld version alongside generations leader Jetfire. TW Devilstar Astrotrain is not a Voyager class toy. It's a Leader class toy.
Chimungmung has TW Devilstar listed as a 22.5 CW robot height toy. This Translates to 8.9 Inches Leader class.
DX9 Chigurh is only 9.4 inches tall. This is only 0.5 inches taller than TW Devilstar.
G1 Cartoon Astrotrain was not a leader. Don't need him the same height or bigger than MP-10 and Apolloyn. 8.9, Feel is a good height as it's a inch bigger than the MP seekers.
G1 cartoon Astrotrain and Blitzwing are shown a pinch shorter than Megatron. So this TW Devilstar height is perfect for MP TF display that have Apolloyn in them.
If the 0.5 Less inch bothers anyone. Perhaps a 3rd party can create height boots for TW Devilstar. or perhaps fans can use lego's or Kreo's to build their own height boots for Devilstar.

In vehicle mode, sure... But I was under the impression Raze was talking about robot mode...
I haven't seen TFTM in awhile. I think I know what I'm watching once the wife falls asleep!

I think I like this Astrotrain better. Actually, I like everything about it... except for that piece hanging from the crotch.
