even Blurr's stupid wheeled alt mode works there. Just needs a better Arcee. Wonder if they'll manage on by the 30th ann of the film?
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

One can always hope. Lord knows I was tempted once or twice to bite on a third party Arcee. But for now, I'm content with an Animated Arcee who's been given a custom head and had her yellow paint covered in silver Sharpie.

I have both Defender and Springer in my Classics collection. They both fit fine for me. And no need to rag on FP for not being precognitive. ;)

As for this... I'm getting it. Even if Hasbro does a Voyager Roadbuster, I'm getting it.

Just because he's new I have Hasbro's Springer in there. But I'll switch back to Defender eventually. I also find Springer too big. Blitzwing too, but the Decepticons are just hopeless when it comes to any kind of scale.

We're digressing a bit, but I think the movie Autobot cast scale well with each other.

I’m really trying to see how you see Hasbro Springer as being in scale with the other popular 1986 movie figures. But I’m just not seeing it…

I see this…
Image
Then I see this…
Image

Then we got this…
Image
And compare it to this…
Image

Or how about this iconic scene…
Image
And Hasbro gives us this…
Image

And just for kicks, how’s this look for scale ???
Image

Now back to Defender’s scale…
Image

Looks like Defender is perfectly in scale to me. Granted Hasbro Springer is a nice stand alone figure. I don’t regret buying him. The head is a lot better than Defender's head. But he scales with the rest of the classics line and 3rd party figures like crap. Same thing with Blitzwing.

Well, when it comes to the toyline, with rare exception we have never been able to have consistent scale, and it certainly has little bearing on how the characters appeared in the show. So when I talk about characters scaling well together, it is more a case of, "They are sizes that work well together, and look good grouped on the shelf." It does not mean, "They are exactly how they were in the show, and if they aren't, then oh my god, rage!"

And frankly, I think Hasbro's Springer looks damn good with his fellows. Stands a good height with Rodimus (in Protector armor) and Magnus. Towers over the Arcee I use a bit, but that actually works for a toy display to me. She can stand in front of her boys without looking too short in comparison, but she doesn't block them from being viewed.

But I'm not going to debate that with you. 'Cause if you don't like how Springer looks on your shelf with the other toys you have, and would rather use Defender, that's your business and you're entitled to that opinion.

But I would argue you basing that opinion on rigid adherence to how scale was presented in the cartoon, especially since it was a cartoon with at times laughable quality control. Just as there was little regard to scale in the toyline, there was at the best of times just vague adherence to it in the cartoon. And at the worst of times... Well...

My argument:

I also have to agree with X. I think Springer is a little too big, and prefer Defender for my lineup. Plus Sandstorm then looks unique rather than a (clever and extensive) retool. Plus my Impactor is pretty small, and there's no way Springer should tower over him.

Regarding Roadbuster, I think I will wait to see what Hasbro's plans are. Whirl looks awesome.

Thanks guys. My issue with Hasbro's Springer isn't their disregard for the cartoon scale. It's Hasbro's disregard for their previous figures that bothers me. It's like they said screw Astrotrain and Octane, kids like big figures better so forget what classics collectors think. Nothing is perfect, but there should be some consistency among the classics line. Prime and Megatron keep getting smaller, and their troops keep getting bigger.

HAHAHAHA really enjoyed these. Thanks!

As for Defender Springer argument. I believe Hasbro springer is the much better toy but Defender does look better with pass classics characters. Fansproject made defender to scale with classics while Hasbro was trying to make the best possible toy.
I just wish Defender's knees didn't grind itself to dust!

Springer is a tad too big for 1986 Movie scale, but works just fine in an IDW or other scale. I just don't mind him being bigger. A triple changer should be bigger.

They really ought to redo Astrotrain & Octane as voyagers to match Blitzwing. Honestly, if Hasbro had made Blitzwing smaller to fit the scale of those two, I would have been furious.

Is Springer really that gigantic in IDW? I mean, he's even bigger than Prime here.

Classics Octane just needs to be redone period. As a tanker truck I guess he could stand to be larger overall. Blitz, however, just towers over every other Decepticon. But, like I said earlier, Decepticons are screwed with scale. Even moreso than any Autobot, they just can't win with the current selection.

I'm really glad I saw that video from Ages 3 & Up. I was pretty unimpressed with the initial images of the vehicle mode we got from... was it TFCon? It looked pretty weak. But those extra pieces that beef him up make quite the difference. It sucks a bit that it pushes the figure more to a parts-former, but so long as they get some decent usage in robot mode (and knowing FP, they probably will) then I'd say it's worth it. If they could only do something about the hands hanging down from underneath the front. :-( It still needs a little something to fully convince me as Roadbuster, but hopefully that'll come with the final colours.

Autobot Genocide wrote:RB looks ok but the more i look and especially at the alt mode it just looks old? i mean too blocky i feel like it already needs updating .

It is meant to be a military vehicle though. There's not many of them out there with the sleek lines of an Aston Martin.

As for the tangent topic, I'm also of the opinion that while the official Springer is the far superior figure in nearly every respect, Defender is just about the better size. Most of the comparisons shots of the Generations figure X gave us I could let slide, but Optimus? No, no, noooo.
