Man, I'm just not feeling the paint apps on these promos. *sighs* I'll pick up Cyclonus, just cause he's one of my favorite characters, but I think I might eventually import the Henkei version of him and Hound.

I've ragged on the new Classics/Universe 2.0 line for awhile now, but I must admit, some of the new figures look pretty damn awesome.
Hound is really cool, but Cyclonus... damn, that is one of the coolest TF figures I've seen in years. Probably the first Classics figure I'll actually buy.

The packaging only makes these things look so much more tempting. I can't wait for them to be out! Also, I'm glad they put the Maximal logo on Cheetor's packaging though I wish they'd done it next to the logo.

Why is it that Ravage has the head of a bird (lazerbeak-ish) instead of a panther?

They look great. I bet the Henkei versions will be nicer colours, but those are good enough for me. Bring on the 25th anniversary! I wonder if they will put out a Grimlock for the 25th anniversary line?

Pretty good.
Every time I see Cheetor I like him more.
I'm assuming will see more Beastwars character updates if they went to the trouble of adding the "Beastwars Series" label to the box. hopefully will see a new Rhinox and Rattrap.
Cyclonus definitely needs some more paint apps. Hopefully Takara will produce a better looking one.

Oh god, I want Hound and Cyclonus. I almost want Cheetor, maybe just so the proper Transformers can beat the crap out of him.

Re: First Look at New TF:Universe Figures In-Package
Hey, anyone notice they're calling Hound and Cyclonus "Generation 1 Series", rather than "Classics Series" like figures in earlier waves of Universe.
I guess it's with the introduction of the Beast Wars and Armada characters. They don't want to make the distinction that those were not classic.

After viewing the final in package pics I feel disappointed with this line all of a sudden. I believe it is because these figures are plastic (new) trying to be metal (old) figures. Sigh.....wishes for the days of G1 again! I really do.

Plus, Metal toys are heavier and harder to stand up.

Maybe, but try attacking your sister with Classics Prime.
Not the same as G1 die-cast club-of-death Prime.

Re: First Look at New TF:Universe Figures In-Package
I always liked the cold tactile feel of die-cast. In terms of strength and utility, plastic can do as good a job. But I still think it adds that extra something. I like how WST Prime has die cast feet. In that case it adds some stability, but they really didn't have to do it. They gave us something extra. Hasbro would've kept the money and given us an all plastic figure. It would be great if they'd make an exception from time to time and give us occasional diecast, or chrome, or rubber wheels, but those seem to be completely off the table at Hasbro. Then they do things like Titaniums, which are so bad they put the final nail in the coffin.
But anyway. Hound is the standout for me. Cyclonus' alt mode looks a bit of a mess here. It's full of gaps and mismatched materials. Doesn't really hold together. I'm sure it won't be a bad figure, but I'll lay off any over-the-top praise till I actually have one. Nightstick looks cool though.
Hound is excellent, looks like everything I'd want from that figure. If I had a reservation, it's making the windshield too blue, but I can get past that. Ravage is a nice extra touch, though hardly needed. It looks pretty much the same as G1 Ravage, and as Terra Verticon points out, the head looks more like that of Laserbeak from this angle. Also his front paws are a bit too flat-footed; they're not jointed at the wrist like on the original. But for a bonus figure, he's pretty cool.

Re: First Look at New TF:Universe Figures In-Package
Everyone is just estatic about the Cyclonus, me personally i think he looks horrible. I will get it because he is my favorite character but after 20 years this toy still sucks. If you can afford it the best looking cyclonus is from a japanese company called jizaitoys looks exactly like the cartoon but it is not the sturdiest of figures.
