I just learned an interesting trick. Save the holy water from the beginning of the level (it works great on the axe-knights) and survive until reaching Death. ONce there, immediately drop a bottle onto the rightmost platform where he first appears from. The holy water will damage Death and hold him in place. Just keep tossing holy water so he can't move and he's toast in no time.

Sure is, but it's highly effective. Especially with a Double or Triple Shot. Some might call it chumping, but it beats trying to dodge his damn scythes.
