Ran another mission for the Roaches, one for the Ulars, finally ran an agency mission, and discovered the identity of the black market dealer called the Sloth Demon.
Finally got around to the 2nd story mission and only took 9 hours of gameplay time.

And because I'm on a huge Final Fantasy bender, I watched Advent Children Complete. Not a game, though perhaps a drinking game could be made, but it made me go and do this:
Final Fantasy VII:
Learned the hard way that my PSP is no longer suited for downloading for some reason. I had to download the game from my PS3, then transfer it over via USB.
What I really wanted to do was to go back and re-do everything using many of the new tricks I learned in my last playthrough.

51 hours since the last post, I think I'm allowed to do this.
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin:
Tried to get Artistide into protective custody, that failed when the Point Man blew up the Vault, man, who was the jerk who made him do that--Oh right, me.
After getting crazy-pants surgery, now I have all the powers of the Point Man. Good news, I've got AC forces on the run. Bad news, Alma hijacked the Replicas.
Got into the seat of a Replica Elite Powered Armor, which is just about the best thing ever. Hey, Replicas, where is your God now?! Oh right, she's over there, trying to get into my pants.
"You're like free pizza at an anime convention, she can smell you, and she wants to...consume you!"

Final Fantasy 4: The after years
Finally (no pun intended) got back to playing this. Spent an hour grinding on the moon's surface. When the enemies there became mildly fair, decided I was leveled up enough to try playing the game again (fat chance). Entered a nearby cave and worked my way down a few levels, barely surviving ridiculously overpowered enemies but finding a save point and pathetically easy boss battle on each floor (why are the regular enemies more powerful than the bosses? something's not right here.
)
Bosses so far are all brought back from the original FF4, including the Magus Sisters, Baigan, and Lugae and Barbariccia. After each battle, a story scene between characters earns me a new band attack. Too bad all of them are for character combinations not in my party.
Luckily I have all the bands I need. Rosa + Ceodore = Divine Healing. Rosa + Kain = Saints Dive. Ceodore + Kain = Cross Slash. Golbez +... well, Golbez kicks ass all by himself.

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin:
BEATEN! Crap! That couldn't have been more than a few hours!
Fun fact: Keegan has a slow-mo ability not unlike Becket's, meaning even if you use slow-mo, Keegan still appears to move at a normal speed. It would be easier to fight him if I didn't have the sounds of Alma having an orgasm ringing in my ear. That they keep showing her, looking like a normal human and topless, also does not help.

He'll shoot at you, which does as much damage as any gun in the game, and he'll also appear at multiple points at once, but each time you shoot him, he vanishes, not unlike Fettel, allowing you to turn off the machine sealing you and Alma together. Because Alma doesn't grasp the concept of "No Means No." And also, not only is the child the offspring of the two most powerful psychics in the series (Becket is said to likely be even more powerful than Fettel) the child is also probably the Antichrist.
FEAR 3 is going to be fun.

Final Fantasy4 : The After years
Got through 2 more floors of the moon's subterranea. Doesn't sound like much but the return of Scarmaglionne was a pain and required and hour and a half of grinding for XP.
Just Cause 2
No real accomplishments level-wise, but completed 4 settlements and finally assassinated a really difficult military leader.

last post on the 11th, today is the 13th... yeah, I'm clear to post.
BattleField: Bad Company 2
From when I last left off, defended the satellite and collected the black box but got lost in the snow, having to survive the icy weather by finding fireplaces to warm up by (pretty sure I did this in Crysis a while back). Met up with my team and we then headed to a desert to find a missing Ocean liner (don't question it). Had to take over 4 enemy Comm units to triangulate, then go work my way to the ocean liner where I found a missing superweapon. Collected it and planned to return home.
On the way back, my chopper got shot down and I managed to meet up with one of my team members just as an enemy assault occured. All fun and games until the tank showed up.
Took out the tank and met with my squad. From there, rescued my helicopter pilot and went on a minigun rampage to meet our contact, who promptly betrayed us and got killed. Helicopter pilot went down again and our team ran into the forest.
This game is really rubbing me the wrong way. Having little fun with the single player for 3 main reasons:
First, DUST! Enemies become impossible to see through dust clouds yet they can headshot me from across the map. Having to follow bullet trails to find my targets (a very dangerous method)
Second: Arbitrary map boundaries. In the desert mission, was given a target point and a jeep, yet taking the direct route took me outside of established boundaries (how does that work?) and the game literally kills you for it. Ack!
third: Visibility. Goes with the dust but even when the view is perfectly clear, enemies still disappear into a foggy haze. Wouldn't be so bad except the enemy's effective range is less than your visible distance, which just plain sucks.

Final FAntasy 4: The after years
Still working my way down through Subterrane. Made it through 3 more floors, encountering 3 of the elemental fiends from the original game. Namely Cagnazzo, Barbariccia, and Rubicante. Rubicante's battle was interesting as it was a one-on-one versus Edge. My Edge is seriously underleveled but a few fire-resistant armors and Rubicante couldn't touch me while I whittled down his health.
BattleField: Bad company 2
Not much progress but not much playtime either. Working my way through a wartorn city scape, nearly getting flattened by my own army's mortar rounds. Made it to a scenic view just in time to watch a plane glow and then fire an EMP in the city. Whoops... my team was disheartened but the word 'cheerleaders' cheered him back up. Onto the plane to retrieve the weapon.

Managed to beat part 2 of what passes for a Watchmen game with a friend last night. Man, those fat BDSM guys are really tough. Couple the huge mobs with an unfriendly non-intuitive combo system that neither of use could master and it was really, really hard. Anyway, we beat it and now I'm only 135 gamage-points away from 1337 gamerscore.

GAME.OVER!
Cleared the single-player and destroyed the enemy superweapon, surviving a parachute-less jump. Retirement's not coming anytime soon though as the Russian's are invading. Guess that's Bad company 3.
Somewhere down the line I'll actually try out the multiplayer, but probably not today.

I found it really, really easy to master. The only real setback to chaining multiple special attacks together is that either I get attacked from behind by one of the dude's buddies, or the guy dies before I can finish the combo.

The whole "press button at time last hit lands" thing didn't work for me, especially since blocks broke the chain and the characters are prone to running off in other directions to beat up goons when you press a button. At any rate, the game's done, and there's no reason to play it again.

Just Cause 2
Ran some more faction missions, including 2 airport based ones for the Roaches and an assasination for the reapers. Ulars are pretty quiet right now.
Helped the Roaches take over a new stronghold, expanding their influence and opening up a helipad with a sweet military chopper, which I then used to destroy an enemy military base. Whee!
Final Fantasy 4: The after years
Grind-time. Got through floor 11 fairly easily but hit a fire-breathing acid spitting brick wall (semi-hyperbole but not much) on b12. the difficulty ramped up as I descended the staircase and killed me in 3 turns. spending the next few hours on floor 11 grinding to reach level 50 as soon as possible.
UPDATE: Leveling comes in handy. Managed to not only survive B12, but battle and defeat Asura and Leviathan, earning them both as summons. Went down to the next floor and met a Dark Cecil. During the battle, the real Cecil finally came out of his funk and is now at full power again. Time to finally get some new Band attacks going.
Whee!

Left 4 Dead 2:
Played the Passing, good to see Francis, Zoey, and Louis still fighting Zombies...
*Ahem*
Got the achievements "Torch Bearer" (Complete the campaign) "Fore!" (Decapitate 18 zombies with the golf club) "Killing Them Swiftly To This Song" (Play the new Midnight Riders song on a jukebox) and "Kite Like a Man" (Don't harm the Tank, let the original survivors do it)
That last one is actually a really easy way to take down a Tank. Francis was using an AK-47, Zoey was using a Sniper Rifle, and Louis stuck himself on the Machine Gun turret. They'll wipe a Tank out in a matter of seconds.

Halo 2 [PC]:
Made a new Profile to keep track of which levels I've beaten on Legendary to get the 2 last Achievements I need to have all of the single-player ones. Will have to wait for a while before I get them because when I get them, I'll get 100G, and I only need 95 to have 1337 Gamerscore.
GTA IV [PC]:
Geez, what a test of my lack of patience that was. Not the game, I mean. I'm talking about downloading and applying that new patch. Oh well, it's installed, the game runs, I'm happy.
BioShock [PC]:
Installed, patched to v1.1 because v1.0 crashes randomly when I try to pick up stuff, sometimes. Also, 1.1 has new Plasmids and stuff.
Currently hunting Steinman. I think I'll go for the non-bad ending. Maybe.

Just Cause 2
Running more faction missions instead of pushing the plot forward. This game is definitely not for OCD types. The sheer amount of stuff to do is mind-boggling. You could realistically spend more time on this sandbox than on an RPG like Dragon AGe. Definitely not a bad thing though.
Final Fantasy 4: the after years
From where I left off, ran into the mysterious girl again but she didn't fight us. Instead, she warned us to leave, as if... Anyway, we've left Subterrane and entered the depths. Floors are smaller but the enemies are much harder. On the bright side, experience points are given freely and I'm finally reaching adequate power levels. Plus found a new surprise. On B5, met 4 familiar faces in the form of the 4 fiends from Final Fantasy 1. Hard as hell but with good rewards for my trouble.

One thing that astounds me about Just Cause 2 is that Zero Punctuation gave it a good review. I have a personal rule: "If Yahtzee gives something a good review, then the game must be bought, because if someone who is paid to hate everything loves it, it must be good."
