But I love the cobra commander that comes with that set has a chrome face plate like the cobra viper that comes in the new cobra five pack. All my favorite episodes are on this disc so that was nice I also have duke in show correct color scheme, which is a nice bonus.

I like the Viper, but this is a lousy idea for a set. Baroness looks okay, but they should have not used that tooling.
I hope they go back to O-rings next year.

They probably won't. In fact I see them redoing all the convention sets in the 25th mold. Heck there might not even be a convention next year if the movie bombs.

Do you really think they're that low on ideas?
I think (hope) this is a one time gig. There aren't enough 25th parts to really make anything interesting, whereas there's plenty that could still be done with classic figures. There's more than enough 25th repaints at retail already.
chuckdawg1999 wrote:Not that they're low, they smell money. The 25th line got guys like me who hadn't thought about GI Joe since the early 90's back into the line. We bought nearly every figure, and vehicle we could get our hands on.
The exclusive DTC wave 4 was the last hurrah of O-rings. Much like TF's they don't care about the older fans because they're banking on a slew of new ones coming in from the movie.
Makes you wish you all got on my boat when the first TF movie was being done now, huh?
Don't worry, when the movie bombs, and right now it's 60/40 it will, this will be all for naught since Joe will be taking a Chris approved Hi8tus.

The 25th line brought me into GI Joe, which I had never even really been interested in except for a few occasions. I only collected 25ths for awhile, then they quit making stuff this year and I found the joys of the older figures.
Funny if anything the new line made me realize how bad the older figures were. Most of them can't even hold their guns straight. Ah, to be young again.
I've been watching the general reaction to this set and it's definitely not as positive as it should be. Maybe I'm wrong but I think this current idea of remaking everything just won't last.
This reminds me of 25 years ago when the 12" and 8" Joe fans weren't happy about the ARAH line. I guess it's our turn to be the old fuddy duddies. The exclusive DTC wave 4 was the last hurrah of O-rings. Much like TF's they don't care about the older fans because they're banking on a slew of new ones coming in from the movie.
But I thought the exact point of Funpub and all that was to do things Hasbro couldn't with the general masses. You know, stuff for the smaller segments of fans. I doubt most the people brought in by the movie would go to Joecon, or join the club. And who's to say they won't find interest in the classic figures like I did?
Funpub walks lock-step with Hasbro on everything. If they really were for collectors why haven't they acknowledged the problems with classics 2.0, Duke arms, and the general malaise with the later part of the 25th anniversary line?Makes you wish you all got on my boat when the first TF movie was being done now, huh?
No offense, but I'm not sure I understand.
Eh, my weak attempt at humor. Back when the first TF movie was just starting to come together I warned in an op/ed column I used to write that if it was successful the designs and character templates would dictate the direction of Transformers for years to come. Thus far it has.Don't worry, when the movie bombs, and right now it's 60/40 it will, this will be all for naught since Joe will be taking a Chris approved Hi8tus.
I'm pretty sure despite my distaste for the movie that it won't "bomb". I'm not sure it will do as well as Transformers, but I'm mostly sure it will do decently.

1) a loose packed COBRA Night Watch Trooper 5 pack.
2) package from HK with Movie Destro and a Movie Ice Viper, both are very nice, but Destro is getting a head swap shortly.

I always wanted the original, but they go for insane amounts.
As for the movie line, I only plan to buy 25th mold repaints, and vehicles, except the Ice Viper, who I like. Otherwise, much like TFs, it will be a spontaneous, this or that when I am in the store.
As for the GI JOE movie, I predict it will do alright. It's coming out in August, not much movie competition that I know of. THus, I think it should do pretty well just due to people's boredom.

Is it just me or does the Ice Viper look like Snow Serpent V.2? The wrapped gun looks the same.
Supreme Convoy wrote::BOT: (Slightly re-posting it but I can't get enough of this book)
Anyone else reading the GI Joe: Cobra comic by Christos Gage and Mike Costa?
It's a great book starring Chuckles (yes, Chuckles!). It's a dark take on the GI Joe mythology... much different than the other IDW Joe books. Lots of gritty espionage!
#3 is so dark, you cannot believe Hasbro approved it!

It seems to be more a successor than the current snow serpents. The gun I believe is different. It is a nifty figure with it's snowboard type pants. the head is a bit on the bland side thou.
Editor wrote:ah... no.
The snowboard still has a firing missile, but it's not part of the pants. What I meant was that the figure seems to be wearing snowboarding pants.
