Do you collect other toys besides Transformers? Maybe you've got a Masters of the Universe collection you'd like to show off, or maybe you like Thundercats, Voltron, G.I.Joe, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Wrestling, or any of the various comic book toy lines. Please keep the discussions here to non-Transformers toy lines.

Well I completed my M.A.S.S. device today had settle for buying through ebay always hate going that route because it so expensive no matter what way you buy it on ebay. But I love the cobra commander that comes with that set has a chrome face plate like the cobra viper that comes in the new cobra five pack. All my favorite episodes are on this disc so that was nice I also have duke in show correct color scheme, which is a nice bonus.

That's why I use big crumbs and now ebay bucks. At least I know I get a little back. That helps when you can't find something and BBTS is out of stock. Just so I can update my list. Who still needs the 80's pack?

I know a number of Joe fans are a bit pissed that the convention is redoing the Crimson Strike Team, but those look nice.

Hey cool, the Baroness has new lower legs. Not sure why they didn't use the 5-Pack body/head as it looks better. The Viper looks pretty cool.

I like the Viper, but this is a lousy idea for a set. Baroness looks okay, but they should have not used that tooling.

I hope they go back to O-rings next year.

They probably won't. In fact I see them redoing all the convention sets in the 25th mold. Heck there might not even be a convention next year if the movie bombs. Anyone going? I figure this will probably be the only way to get red crimson twins so I might want the whole box set. Then again maybe not. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to get the SDCC exclusives.

I gaily opened HOH Firefly. By gaily I mean with random disregard and lots of arm flailing. Anyway it's a cool figure but his hands are incredibly soft and can't hold his gun as well. He comes with his 8mm but has a knife sheath!!?? I hope they're not all like that.

Do you really think they're that low on ideas?

I think (hope) this is a one time gig. There aren't enough 25th parts to really make anything interesting, whereas there's plenty that could still be done with classic figures. There's more than enough 25th repaints at retail already.

Not that they're low, they smell money. The 25th line got guys like me who hadn't thought about GI Joe since the early 90's back into the line. We bought nearly every figure, and vehicle we could get our hands on. I even considered joining the Joe club but decided not to when they wouldn't cut me a deal on being a TF/Joe Club member. All of the box sets from Crimson Sabotage on can be redone with the 25th figures. Heck most of the vehicles have been redone too so they're good to go. They'd be crazy not to. The exclusive DTC wave 4 was the last hurrah of O-rings. Much like TF's they don't care about the older fans because they're banking on a slew of new ones coming in from the movie. Makes you wish you all got on my boat when the first TF movie was being done now, huh? Don't worry, when the movie bombs, and right now it's 60/40 it will, this will be all for naught since Joe will be taking a Chris approved Hi8tus.

The 25th line brought me into GI Joe, which I had never even really been interested in except for a few occasions. I only collected 25ths for awhile, then they quit making stuff this year and I found the joys of the older figures.

I've been watching the general reaction to this set and it's definitely not as positive as it should be. Maybe I'm wrong but I think this current idea of remaking everything just won't last.

The exclusive DTC wave 4 was the last hurrah of O-rings. Much like TF's they don't care about the older fans because they're banking on a slew of new ones coming in from the movie.

But I thought the exact point of Funpub and all that was to do things Hasbro couldn't with the general masses. You know, stuff for the smaller segments of fans. I doubt most the people brought in by the movie would go to Joecon, or join the club. And who's to say they won't find interest in the classic figures like I did?

Makes you wish you all got on my boat when the first TF movie was being done now, huh?

No offense, but I'm not sure I understand. Image

I'm pretty sure despite my distaste for the movie that it won't "bomb". I'm not sure it will do as well as Transformers, but I'm mostly sure it will do decently.

Funny if anything the new line made me realize how bad the older figures were. Most of them can't even hold their guns straight. Ah, to be young again.

I've been watching the general reaction to this set and it's definitely not as positive as it should be. Maybe I'm wrong but I think this current idea of remaking everything just won't last.

This reminds me of 25 years ago when the 12" and 8" Joe fans weren't happy about the ARAH line. I guess it's our turn to be the old fuddy duddies.

The exclusive DTC wave 4 was the last hurrah of O-rings. Much like TF's they don't care about the older fans because they're banking on a slew of new ones coming in from the movie.

Funpub walks lock-step with Hasbro on everything. If they really were for collectors why haven't they acknowledged the problems with classics 2.0, Duke arms, and the general malaise with the later part of the 25th anniversary line?

Makes you wish you all got on my boat when the first TF movie was being done now, huh?

No offense, but I'm not sure I understand. Image

Eh, my weak attempt at humor. Back when the first TF movie was just starting to come together I warned in an op/ed column I used to write that if it was successful the designs and character templates would dictate the direction of Transformers for years to come. Thus far it has.

Don't worry, when the movie bombs, and right now it's 60/40 it will, this will be all for naught since Joe will be taking a Chris approved Hi8tus.

Really? To be honest I'm not sure. Most of the folks complaining about the new convention set are also against the movie. I don't see someone paying money to see something they're not sure they'll like. It's not like the Paris Hilton porno where you just had to look. I think either the movie will do well and the toy line will bomb or the toy line will do well and the movie will bomb. These will be an interesting few months ahead.

If they are not sold out, I am going to grab a set or two of the Crimson Sabotage.

I always wanted the original, but they go for insane amounts.

As for the movie line, I only plan to buy 25th mold repaints, and vehicles, except the Ice Viper, who I like. Otherwise, much like TFs, it will be a spontaneous, this or that when I am in the store.

As for the GI JOE movie, I predict it will do alright. It's coming out in August, not much movie competition that I know of. THus, I think it should do pretty well just due to people's boredom.

:BOT: (Slightly re-posting it but I can't get enough of this book)

Anyone else reading the GI Joe: Cobra comic by Christos Gage and Mike Costa?

It's a great book starring Chuckles (yes, Chuckles!). It's a dark take on the GI Joe mythology... much different than the other IDW Joe books. Lots of gritty espionage!

#3 is so dark, you cannot believe Hasbro approved it! :CON:

It seems to be more a successor than the current snow serpents. The gun I believe is different. It is a nifty figure with it's snowboard type pants. the head is a bit on the bland side thou.

Yup, I read it. Is that the issue where he has to interrogate, and the execute a certain someone? It was an OS moment for me to be sure. I have not been a Chuckles fan before, but reading this has been really cool.

And I believe this has been the best of the IDW series releases so far.

1) a loose packed COBRA Night Watch Trooper 5 pack.
2) package from HK with Movie Destro and a Movie Ice Viper, both are very nice, but Destro is getting a head swap shortly.

Is it just me or does the Ice Viper look like Snow Serpent V.2? The wrapped gun looks the same.

It seems to be more a successor than the current snow serpents. The gun I believe is different. It is a nifty figure with it's snowboard type pants. the head is a bit on the bland side thou.

SS v.2 had a snow board with a spring loaded missile launcher. If the snow board is now a part of the figures legs then I do believe I shall make love to it.

ah... no.

The snowboard still has a firing missile, but it's not part of the pants. What I meant was that the figure seems to be wearing snowboarding pants.

Once I ran an Anime festival with over 6,000 attendees. Now... not so much.

Ah ok. I wonder if the snow board is the same mold from way back when.
