GI Joe Fans Unite-- 25th Anniversary Fig Talk and More!

Do you collect other toys besides Transformers? Maybe you've got a Masters of the Universe collection you'd like to show off, or maybe you like Thundercats, Voltron, G.I.Joe, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Wrestling, or any of the various comic book toy lines. Please keep the discussions here to non-Transformers toy lines.

Perhaps this will help rather than me try to explain.

First the Snow Serpent v2(1992)

And the
Movie Ice Viper.

If the second link doesn't work, sorry but this auction was the only link I could find. (and wow, this dealer wants 3 times what payed for mine.)

Once I ran an Anime festival with over 6,000 attendees. Now... not so much.

BBTS just informed me that my Wave 5 just came in. I got two of it, that means to Stingers, and two Arctic Hiss, not to mention the other things the Howitzer and Outback, and the Stratoviper and claw, and another Sky Hawk, I think...

Yeah!

Sweet. I still need to order an arctic HISS, but I've been holding off in the hopes that I can get confirmation if Canadian retailers will have them. As I don't want to pay shipping for something i can grab from a Wal*Mart.

I got my notice too. Don't just grab the HISS take it home with ya; they look fun. I'm sorry that was a bad joke. As I get older my jokes are getting worse.

Package arrived today with my red HISS tank. Looks sweet, but I'll have to wait til I get home to see how it works with Desert Extreme Major Bludd, in the turret and python viper in the driver seat.

So quick question:
Seeing I am only collecting a Cobra army, (but not with dreadnoks)The question is who (personality) do I truly require to be in the display.
I have my:
Cobra Commander
Destro (still going to change the head once I can find a destro/shockwave 2-pack for the one i want)
Baroness
Firefly
Storm Shadow
Major Bludd
Scrap Iron

I couldn't care less about Serpentor (strange as I actually had him as a kid) and Mindbender I'll get in the Island defense pack. The crimson twins I'll get eventually.

But who am i really overlooking that deserves to be in this group?

Well at first just to have some fun but then I remembered he was Cobra's CPA so I figured he made sense.

You know, if he was to get a 25th mold that made him more of a serious character than a poor-man Conderman, I might actually consider him. But if he was a straight up remake of his original mold, than he'll never quite make it.

update, I've given up trying to find the wave 13 2-pack and ordered a loose Pilot Destro for his head and regular base.

It was called Resolute. There were several webisodes and aired as a 2 hour special on Cartoon network.

Wasn't it 1 hour?

It was also a massive Rickroll, starting off very strong, but eventually hitting 88mph and returning to the crap cartoon of old, with people shooting and no one getting hit (no good guys, at least). Duke ended up being the same character he was in the 80s cartoon (unfortunately), Hawk was written out (I guess he was off in Washington getting screwed over by the Jugglers), Scarlett's characterization was awful, and their really was no ending. Some people were also really annoyed by the deaths and the tech girl. Plus, it wasn't 'realistic' like they had told us, with some elements seemingly lifted from Sigma 6. We were told there'd be no parachutes nor lasers. Spoiler: there were parachutes and lasers.

That being said, the animation was fantastic, the character and vehicle redesigns were great, and the Arashikage segments were very well done. The voices and voice acting wasn't too bad, either. The new Cobra Commander is a very badass leader who won't take anyone's crap.

On the whole, I found Resolute to be rather underwhelming. It promised much, and starts out very strong, but ultimately leaves you wanting more, and not in the good way. There is much potential to the Resolute universe, and I eagerly await another chance to visit it, but next time, I hope they give more realism, better accuracy to the characters, and a better story. An ending would be nice, too.

I never watched it. Too much going on, so I am waiting for the DVD release, although CN probably has it up somewhere to view, no?

I don't like how stale GI JOE is on shelves right now. It is quite boring a bare. The newest thing I have seen is a Destro Mighty MUGG which is cool, but I already have one.

Even though I do not like most of the movie stuff, I want to see it on the shelves so I can decide if I want it or not. And I want the 25th repaints they are putting in the movie line.

I know it comes out in early July, but man, I am saddened everytime I go to a GI JOE section of a store.

Worst part is that there are no deals going on now to clear the shelves. I want those TRU 5-packs as well as the leader sets but not at full price.

At least you are getting the 5-packs.

Hasbro Canada has been under the assumption for the past few years that there are no fans up here. No exclusives, missing waves, and we're missing over half of the regular vehicle releases.

Easy there, hoser. We get the 5-Packs, and they come with 2 sets of Filecards (one English, one french and spanish). I've seen them at Zellers, Toys R Us, and Walmart.

Now, single-carded figures and boxed vehicles is another story...

Oh Mighty Leet One.

Yes we get the standard joe pack and the Cobra packs But we haven't seen any of the special exclusive army builder type 5 packs the have been exclusives in the states. The 5-packs in question are like this, this, or this.

Which is why I had to order my Night Watch 5 pack off of eBay.

Sorry I could have been more specific.

Whoops! My mistake, I missed the context of your message. I thought you meant the recent 5-packs and not the builder sets...

But no, we didn't see those, we didn't see the SRO 3-Packs, we didn't see Comic Packs except for Wave 1, we didn't see many DVD sets [I've only seen the Weather Dominator set at retail, as the other set I saw had been returned with swapped figures], we didn't see vehicles other than the shelfwarming HISS and Armadillo/Serpentor sets, and we sure's hell don't see single-carded figs. The only Joe stuff I see 'round here are the new 5-packs and the Combat Heroes.

Basically, I buy all my Joe stuff from comic shops, specialty stores, conventions, and friends in the states.

Wow I feel really bad for you guys. I'm going to go and ogle my HOH figures while watching the Best of the 80's dvd. Later I plan on displaying my Python Patrol figures on my swamp rat. Take care.

HOH are available as a number of comic shops brought them in if you don't mind paying the inflated Diamond pricing.

Best of the 80's is a shelf filler here. It's M.A.S.S. part 3&4 that are unseen. 1&2 are still common.

Once I ran an Anime festival with over 6,000 attendees. Now... not so much.
