And suddenly I have images of the tattooed guy in Fanboys with the large back tat of Jar-Jar.

Never saw the movie, any good?

A decent watch if you are enough of a fan of Star Wars to catch the references and cameos. I can see some die-hards being offended by parts but honestly it all in good fun. Ray Park showing up as a security Guard at the Skywalker Ranch doing all his Darth Maul moves was a brilliant touch.

However, for films in the same vein, I personally find Free Enterprize a better film.

Is this the movie where the guy is dying from cancer and wants to break into Skywalker ranch?

Almost forgot, according to a review on generals joes there is a packaging variant for the Snarler cycle with both figures pegged to the box. Also, didn't notice this on the box but Beachhead was going to have Firefly's head.

:BOT: GI Joe: Cobra II #1 came out last week. Really dug it. Spoilers below!
After several months, eagerly wondering what Chuckles has been up to, I'm a bit surprised we do not see our hero Chuckles until the last page.

Hawk sends a woman looking exactly like Jinx to rescue Chuckles. This part fascinates me. At this point, I can buy that Chuckles assumes she's really Jinx and somehow survived the first mini-series... I just want to see his reaction when he learns her true identity

And I love the new look for Croc Master. He has a skinny/scary look like Metal Gear's Psycho Mantis.
We're in for a good read, folks. :CON:

I got the Sideshow Cobra sniper today. Haven't taken him out of the box yet but he looks cool. I also got the Deep six with Dragon fish sled. I think they're using the Eel body and he looks damn good. I was getting tired of the Torpedo mold so this was refreshing. Wish he came with the Bond Air pistol though.

:BOT: Went to the shop today and GI Joe: Origins #12 caught my attention. Marc Andreyko? Ben Templesmith? The Baroness???

SOLD!

Solid issue with great Templesmith art. Of course, I always associate Templesmith with horror so I'm always pleasantly surprised to see him outside the "norm."

Don't think I've read Baroness' origin before so it's a treat to see someone's take here. Definitely pick up the book if you can! :CON:

So the collectors club is doing something epic and just fails for me at the same time.

They have gone and finally done what they should have done ages ago and set this years convention set as the Red Shadows.

An utterly brilliant move as the concept for the shadows was not only great when they were the pre-cobra foes of Action Force, but when Devil's Due relaunched them in their Joe comics, it came out great.

Then the club announced that the set would be o-ring.

Now I know that there is a large portion of Joe fans that have gone apeshit over the fact that despite the club saying last year they would be using Anniversary and/or Movie style figures from now on, that they have gone back, I hate this move.

Personally and maybe it was due to the lack of funds growing up that had me only collect a few pieces, but I find the newer molds better in sculp, articulation and possibility, which is why I got hooked on them. If they had announced this set in this style I would be locking down the funds immediately. As it stand I will be passing on this set completely.

Love the concept, immensely disappointed in the execution.

I agree with ya 110% you're also right on the switch but you have to keep in mind that you had a large number of members saying they were going to not renew their memberships over the switch. The Joe club is larger and has a stronger fan base (read more $$$) so they had to bow. Look at it like this, who says we won't see the red shadows pop up in the main line?

So I was wondering, in the comics did Blowtorch or Charbroil ever get shot in their flame packs and blown up? That would be kinda cool to see.

Over on Yojoe.com I was reading a FAQ and the one thing that grabbed my attention was the accepted reason ARAH ended in '94, that being a compromise between Hasbro and the newly acquired Kener executives. Apparently they held a grudge since '82.

I'm glad it's o-ring, I like new figures, but I can buy those at retail. Hasbro won't make new o-rings, so I'll take whatever I can get. FunPub probably can't get much besides bad tooling like last year's Baroness, so it's for the better.

BTW, Editor did you ever see those o-ring KO Canadian Cobras?

Not sure if I know exactly which you mean Neko, but if you mean a few repaints that showed up online, I did see those and had no interest in them.

Plus If I want Canadian Cobra's, I'll make em myself.

They are, but they're really cool if you want classic Cobras in colors Hasbro never put them in. I have a black one and the quality on them is pretty darn good, only drawback is they can't use regular backpacks.

Nope, the joecanuck thread on them started ages ago.

And nope, those aren't rave vipers. only things in that pic ia the 604 Hiss, two Ice vipers and Beachhead.

I've been meaning to take some shots but I have to do it in natural light as my camera doesn't want to take good shots in regular lighting. (which means I have to get off my ass and do them during the day.)

Once I do, I'll post up the newer crap I've converted. Rave-Viper included. :KREMZEEK:

lol.

I'd also feel better if more of my "conversions" were more than part swaps, but I'm happy with them.

Once I take them, I'll put up my Cobra Joes, which now has Hawk, Duke, Stalker, 5 of the guys in the cobra island attack box, and the tru movie troop pack.

I'll try to throw in a pic of my 'Green Man Alien' at the same time. :P

Hey, sometimes that's all you need. I mean, put movie cover "girl"'s head on that City Strike Resolute Snake-Eyes? Instant Metal Gear Raiden. I was making a Christian Bale as the Gramatton Cleric from Equilibrium. I took a movie Storm Shadow (first version), cut off the sheaths, gave him dual identical handguns, and now all I have to do is give him the head of a The Dark Knight 3.75"er that I've been too lazy to cut off/hollow out. It's simple, but effective.

Canadian cobras, nice to see what you're talking a boot. I've always wondered how come hasbro never made gi Joe Mounties. They're handsome, they're brave, they're strong. They're Mounties, and they enforce the law.

This is coming from a hardcore Canadian dude who says "eh" a lot, pronounces "for" as "fir," watches the CBC, and has immigrant parents: I've never heard anyone say "aboot," ever. Maybe it's just a northern Ontario thing? The Country North of Belville, perhaps? (lol, Canadian lit reference) :-B

Alright, that's enough of that. I'm not sure how Joe Mounties would've done outside of Canada. I was thinking of making one by getting one of those Indiana Jones on horseback figures but I never did.

Well the Mountie image and red serge uniforms are trademarked by the RCMP so I have no doubt that would factor into any plans Hasbro would have.

That said I am honestly surprised that with the exception of the early runs changing the birthplaces of the Joes to canadian cities, that they haven't tapped the Canadian Military for members. The Canadian and US military have served together many times and routinely have duel training missions in addition to Canadian forces serving around the globe.

Maybe they are content with the Joecanuck guys serving that demographic, but more could be done.

I remember getting the Locus helicopter on vacation in Canada and it came with Canadian flag stickers instead of American. Never thought much of it at the time.

Motto: ""I'm not even supposed to be here today!""
Weapon: Shotgun

But most people understood that regardless what we did or the packaging said they were all American, The comics and cartoon sealed that up regardless of what Hasbro Canada did.
