I know nothing of the significance of these numbers. What's it all about Amelie?

Accidentally.

G1 Seekers have several production runs and versions of the mold as running production changes. For example -
Wings sometimes have shorter or longer pegs or a small difference in width, meaning they don't always 100% fit a toy. Ever bought a G1 vintage Seeker and found the wings just refuse to stay pegged in? Now you know.
Some fists have a 'flap'' on the wrist and some don't. Different production runs are numbered and again - some are looser than others. Its not just wear and tear, it really is just that little bit different.
There used to be a whole website out there dedicated to different production runs of G1 Seekers. Very handy.
Much like the different runs on Optimus Prime's fists.
I once had a Thundercracker made of a mix of Mexican IGA parts and MB UK parts. It just wouldn't stay together and the fists, bless them - never stayed on. They fitted my Ramjet and Thrust, though.
