All seriousness aside, I think we need a top 5 transformers packaging list at some point.

Sounds interesting.
Also, this toy exactky as is would cost more at retail, so I'm glad with how it worked out.

Yeah, a retail version of this would actually be a downgrade to what we see here (love it or hate it)
As an aside, I'd vote for the beast wars packaging to be on any top 5 packaging list, the eye design is still striking to this day

Sorry, Ill be "Geewun" all day, but that's the best by far.

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...
Goddammit, now I can't unsee it.

I think in the history of TF toy packaging, this HasLab Victory Saber is easily no. 1. In terms of the graphics, the layers of packaging, the integration of the different packaging layers, the thickness of the cardboard material used, it's unprecedented. Amazing effort, Haslab.
A distant second to this would be the packaging of the Takara Transformers Collection book-style reissues.
There's no third for me. In general, Japanese packaging for Voyager figures from Henkei to Legends had pretty descent packaging style and graphics.
In contrast, the second worst is the current Legacy line, with irregular shaped boxes that can't be easily stored, and either windowless or windowed-but-lacking-plastic-cover. What were they thinking?????![]()
Worst TF packaging ever - Haslab Unicron. Just gross. They could've at least put some colour on the box for the fans who spent so much money on this thing.

I'd agree on the transformers collection packaging being great but having the pages binder style/meant to be torn of the packaging to compile the volume might make me lower them on a list (unlike toynamis book style robotech). As for star sabers think other company's have and are doing better packaging and even transformers has had nicer.
Encore Ironhide and Ratchet boxes that gave the reissues faces was a nice touch too. I'm guessing star sabers would have done that for the shield if they hadn't reached numbers hahaha

Emerje wrote:If we're going to talk about top tier Transformers packaging is it weird to suggest a book? It comes in not one, but two boxes AND it's own wall mountable and sort of transforming case. It's a ridiculous presentation for a book. I really need to get mine mounted on the wall soon.
It's at least worth an honorable mention.

Sentinel_Primal wrote:So, for every successful HasLab, people got emails to confirm their shipping address on the first of the month before they were shipped that ran till the end of the month, right? Cause I haven't gotten anything for VS, and if they want him in hand before Deathsaurus' campaign finishes, we should have gotten the email yesterday, right?
Sentinel_Primal wrote: Given the amount of people I saw on TFW insisting that the only real way thay we'd get VS in December was if we got an email on the first of November, I was getting worried that he'd be delayed (probably still will), but if the shipping email's never consistent then oh well.
