It's only been live for a little over a day and there are over 1000 backers. There's always a rush at the beginning, and even though nerd media has already posted about it, it hasn't been seen in the wild yet. If it's on display at SDCC, I think that will drive more pledges.
Only time will tell, and there's still a lot of it to go.

Good point. If this thing is out at SDCC and more features are revealed, we may see more people jumping in.
And given, I think a lot of fans are having to look at their budget to determine if they can make the deadline. It's really unfortunate they put this up with only a month warning to the deadline. I think a lot of people would have tried to save up for it.

I think a lot about what kind of collection I wanna have now that space will be even more limited. Even with all the amazing toys we've been getting I just can't help but like what I already have mostly.
The Prowl Bros have a new update. But I'm okay with the kinda crappy Universe mould. Especially since I don't have room to display them now.
Omega Supreme looks amazing. But that size .... do I really have room for him? Aren't I happy with YotS Omega Supreme? Do I need a new one to feel more fulfilled? No.
The new Seekers. I'm still very happy with my Classics Seeker mould army made up of exclusives and KOs. I'm not a fan of the "tetra jet" mode and I just don't feel in love with it enough to army build them the same way I have the Classics mould or the Sharkticons.
I already have T30 Jetfire AND the black Henkei Jetfire - is another one needed for me?
I've already got Amazon Unicron. So, in the same light, is this really something I need in my life? Is it just that much better?

OMG, I think it is. It looks amazing all on it's own, even if I already have that space "filled" with something I like a lot. I care about Unicron a lot more than Jetfire or Omega Supreme or the Prowl Bros. I just keep coming back to it and can just see how amazing it's be in my collection. Is he large enough to hold a version of Galvatron up in one hand? Maybe the small 3P one? I have the McDonalds Unicron - maybe he's big enough to hold that like a Matrix! Hah hah, why not?
Most of the new toys are replacement figures for things I kind of already have. And I just don't like most of them enough to replace my older figures. I have to give it a few days, tho. $600 US is just not an impulse buy sort of thing. But I'm getting more into the "I'm in" camp.

It can't be worse than the Armada Unicron mould though. It's probably the whole front section of the planet. There's no way the rotating rings collapses neatly.

I kinda want to see someone get this and post a picture of it in planet mode with the Armada (or Universe), Energon, Takara 2010, and Hasbro 2010 (or Platinum Edition) Unicrons in robot mode positioned underneath this one's planet mode as though they were all trying to hold it up like so:

I'd forgotten about that art. Pretty fun to see that cross section. Those claws are another thing they could reference. Ha. Hoping they at least work in some of these. The TV room would be at the top of my list... that and some pistons.

As I've thought about this today, I gotta say, I hope it fails. Not because I want to see some of your hopes and dreams crapped on, but because I don't trust Hasbro. If this succeeds, I'm afraid they will just see it as an excuse to jack up prices on all transfromers with even a hint of aim at collectors. If they see us as willing to shell out this much money, they will apply that to everything. Or just put all collector type stuff behind an exclusive pay wall.
Hopefully, I'm wrong, but experience in life with big business doesn't leave much room for hope.

Hasbro isn't stupid. Hasbro isn't evil. There's so many on this thread that seem to think Hasbro just sits there and says "Let's see how much money we can get out of these stupid collectors! At least the Titans turned into playsets with built-in interactivity for smaller figures found at normal retail, or into component figures that could likewise interact with some of the larger normal retail figures.
This Unicron, on the other hand, just literally turns into a giant ball-on-a-stick.
It's no wonder it's only being marketed to the market of rich nostalgic super-nerds since that crowd (which includes any of us here who are willing to fork over the money for this thing) is the only crowd weird enough to want to own a giant ball-on-a-stick.

Agreed. This is a niche market item for high end collectors, sadly. This is just the right place for it. And as such, we will expect some high end features and details, which it seems to have.
As for not trusting them, Hasbro seems to have nailed the Jabba barge and delivered on it. I don't think there is any reason not to trust them.

I'm still over here trying to make my budget work so I can claim a Unicron.
1 Problem is, TFsource is getting MPM Megatron this week, and he's not due till August, and with Tfsource that usually means mid-September arrival. so that kinda hurts the budget for this.
I really want this to work. I also really wish they offered a payment plan or 2 more months to get the money, like a 100 day fundraiser.
May post an article encouraging it, not sure yet

Hasbro is still wrong to make the deadline so soon, and to not offer any kind of payment plan. They would be better served to pre-sell them through BBTS or EE or the like, with a release date months away to allow us to save up for it. They would not "lose their shirt" on it this way.
