Are finally mine and what great figures they are. Thanks to hal and crenger for giving me affordable prices on both of those figures.
They look so great together even though megs long ol legs give him a bit of height on prime. Legatron is more like it!
I hate that the general price for those guys is so high though. I noticed that the u.s. versions is much lower most of the time but the paint on them just takes so much from them that for me they arent worth owning.u.s. convoy prime looks to have a spatula on his crotch and megs looks like willy wonka had his ompa loompas give him a new paint job.
Why cant the u.s. get the good paint apps like the eastern bots?
The current thorns in my side are ratchet and astrotrain. Ratchet is expensive either version but the u.s. version with the red horns is a bit cheaper than the eastern version with toon accurate colors.
White astrotrain has been offered to me as low as twenty dollars but he just isnt astrotrain. Astrotrain is purple and grey. That version ofcourse is gonna run ya fifty to eighty dollars.
So, It seems we are paying more for the toon accurate paint apps yes? Why dosent hasbro see this and fix it?
I hate that alot of folks will not be as fortunate as me and will have to do without because of the steep prices on accurately colored transformers.
Give us the right colors so we dont have to buy from the east!!!

For Megatron I got the United version. Bit more GEEWUN.

Yes henkei prime is all that. Dont know what GEEWUN is but I gotta say henkei is expenencially better than the other willy wonka united version.
You prefer the united to the henkei?

Fellas/ladys The megs I am refering to does infact exist. He is just like the other voyager classice only he has purple legs, a yellow shoulder, neon green paint in certain areas....Just hideious. Mine however has the toon accurate color scheme with chrome chest. The first link the all knowing jelzee sent me is a third version that I didnt know existed. Infact, I may look into getting him as he has more of a toon color to him.
The one I have is damn sweet though.
There does exist a voyager classics megs that is purple, yellow, green, neon green and possibly some other non megs accurate colors.
His gun mode is even more of a joke. It looks like a techni neon color super soaker.

And we all know that's Classics Megatron, but he's not United at all. United is the Japanese counterpart to Generations, which the third and Thunder Megatron are part of.

What you may not know is that the orange on him tends to fade rather quickly, and nobody knows why.

I found both under $30 each before... and passed on both...

Now that I want it, the cheapest megs is $65 and prime is gone. :-(

That stinks bro. I wish I were able to help you out. Alas I cannot.
Just know that there are folks out there thast will give you a break. I was very foutunate to have found members that were willing to let certain figures go without taking a huge bight from the wallett.
Ya know, after viewing the pic jelzee sent, that purple megs isnt ALL that bad. The first thing I din with my megs was to push out the pin holding in those "wings". He looks far better without them IMO.
Were you to remove the wings from that figure you would also eliminate the neon green. Also since jelzee says the orange fades (Im inclined to believe him) that would leave you with a grey and purple megs. Thats not so bad at all and I think you can get him for around thirtyfive dollars before shipping on ebay.
Hey jelzee, when were classics megs and optimus offered to us here in the stores do you know? What were the prices on them at the time?
Also, were their eastern counterparts being sold simultaniously or were they sold before/after those figures were offered to us in the states?

Personally, I have the regular US Classics Prime, and he was always good enough for me. I bought US Classics Megatron originally, but was thankfully finally able to replace him with Henkei Megatron. I was unaware of the tendency of the orange to fade, and it's been so long since I saw a picture of a pristine Classics Megatron that I didn't notice the slow fade over time, but now I can tell my Classics Megatron has faded a bit over time. United Megatron does look pretty sweet but I'm content with Henkei. Plus, I dig the chrome.

That deluxe Thunder Megatron is so tempting, just for the glorious G2 homage. But I'm not sure I can justify buying a third rendition of a mold that's really kinda lame.

I also dig the chrome on my megs and prefer him to all other megs reinditions thus far.
Weird too as I usually do not like the chrome pieces on figures.

The Classics line was at US retail late 2006, early 2007, pretty much as a filler line before the first movie hit. Voyager retail pricing at that time would have been $20. The Henkei line came later, 2008 if I'm not mistaken, including Japanese releases of moulds from both the Classics and Universe (2.0) lines from Hasbro.

to everyone who's wanting to look for one:

1) thanks the DIA Commander add-on kit (think city Commander), he too goes for insane prices on the aftermarket
2) rumors indicate the mold has degraded beyond any real use, so a re-release is highly unlikely.

I may have Ultra Magnus already, but I hate the first fact for ruining my chances of getting Prime as well! :-x

A few questions from your most avid asker please sir.
What is the DIA and how does it effect the prices of O.P?
Do you have the city commander add on for your ultra magnus? man I want one of those so badly, but I cannot rationalize spending such cash on it. I seriously doubt that my wife or I will pull one of our "omg I cant believe I got a great deal on that" moves on a city commander, ultramagnus.
It realy sucks to be so screwed on such an important character.
Ya know I heard that a third party developer had a power master optimus prime add on in the works. Is this confirmed?

*ahem* It all started with the Fans Project City Commander add-on for Classics Ultra Magnus. Here are some images.

What was once thought of an extra (he came in a 2-pack with Classics Skywarp), people were going bonkers and everyone needed one for the add-on, just to get a "proper" Classics Ultra Magnus, so prices sky-rocketed. Some time later two repaints were released: Shadow Commander for Universe 2008 Nemesis Prime, and D.I.A. Commander for Optimus Prime. The last one was an homage to Ultra Magnus' Pre-TF Diaclone colors (hence the name), so again, people went bonkers.

I'm not planning on getting any such expansions at all, no matter how good they may look. You could say I'm boycotting them.

Henkei Prime can be had, for a price. I've bought 4 of these so far for various purposes (one for bot mode, one for vehicle mode, one for DIA Commander and one for a custom Powermaster Prime I made from a KO DIA Commander set).
