Stinger, you should be able to do it with any picture type. Which program are you attempting these with? The two main programs, while essentially the same, are still slightly different.

Well. The part that angers me the most is the one with the background o.o Everytime I try to delete it, so it gets transparated. (I hope this is the right english word for it XP ) When I try to save it, my programm says I can't o.o' Why is that??


Which background would this be? The white background you add in as a layer(you do not get rid of this). Or the background of the image, like a road or street? In this case i find it easiest to use 'Tools>Selection Tools>Free Select' take it little by little and once you have an area outlined, just simply hit the delete key on the keyboard. If you are using Gimp for this, i could do another video sometime this weekend with a few "tricks of the trade" that i've been using at various times. I also need to remake the other two as i've got an updated way to do it. But this would not be til end of weekend due to being quite possibly running on fumes til maybe sunday night or monday due to a festivle in town.

Not too bad Kaiju. But yes, the dropshadow on Grimlock is wrong. I think you forgot to make the offset's 0, instead of 5(or 8 whichever it is that is there automatically.)

And Khan looks pretty good.

Yeah, that's exactly what happened, so instead of a general blur behind the image it ended up with a large black mass. I'll probably go back and try it again at some point.

Thats right, its only the colour to be changed that needs to be made transparent, other details can be left solid which helps to add the detail.

Which one(theres actually 2 on there, the Dope and CKY)? Funny how fast youtube has come to picking up songs in videos like, they identified the Dope tune within about 1-2 minutes after i upped it by just that small amount haha.(though apperently it didn't pick up the CKY one)

I'm having a blast doing these. I may not have done all that many yet(Cause some parts can get frustrating haha), but they're fun to do.

Knew I should have used Sideswipe instead. And I'll be honest, I'm not sure how to make it black and white aside from lowering the transparency further.

Good thing I still have all the original images. I'll wait for Raph to help out before I work on any more (because the next lot I plan to make are quite colourful. Someone might want to go through and check the rest of mine, find any more problematic ones. Most of them look pretty grey when set to the right transparency but a few still have plenty of colour (Hoist is suddenly looking very suspicious).

Out of curiosity, are more icons being made behind the scenes, or is it really just us making them?

Im not sure, Green Lantern of Cybertron was doing some, but I think its just us currently. A certain Australian moderator doesn't seem to be able to get to grips with the incredibly complicated alt making procedure, Sustain is off writing all the mission texts, and christ alone knows where Crazyfists and Caelus are.

Id love to see a few more players helping, but if they don't then they wont get a say in what's included like you guys will. Their loss.

I'll see if i can't extend a friendly hand to more alt makers and hopefully in the process draw back some lost players who will hopefully return to V2(some of my fellow Maxis, cause we'll need em come the expansion)


Kaiju, scroll up a little bit, there should be a link to my youtube with an updated video showing how to get it to black/white.


Chaos, Gimp can be evil sometimes(especially when dealing with a lot of selected area as i found out recently on a couple alts *points finger at Zordon and his zords* lol)..but once you accomplish a couple of them it becomes fairly easy. I can make an alt in about 10 minutes or less, depending on what needs to be removed and all.


And Tomasemily, there's plenty Poke-alts in the game already, and i got quite a few sprites and art from the games to use for more, so expect more. I may try out some other similar games, deffinately gonna be a couple Monster Rancher ones.
