Hey man, relax. Before you jump down my throat, let me say this.

I'm a USN Corpsman, i served for 3 years with 3rd BN 7th MAR out of 29 palms california, done two tours to Iraq with said battalion. Recieved my FMF qualification in Iraq.

So, if that doesn't give me the right to say goofy things about the Marines, i don't really know what does, because if you've ever been to a field op (and i'm sure your friend will tell you) you spend a lot of time getting somewhere fast, then you have to wait to do whatever you're doing.

Hence, hurry up and wait.

:P

And EP, what was your rate in the navy? I'm an HM2 Stationed in Japan right now.

A Nuke? Oh God, you scored 99 on your ASVAB and couldn't make your bed right could you? :P

I actually had a guy who scored 99 in my division, and well, he was book smart, but not the sharpest when it came to common sense, and well this guy is in charge of a nuclear reactor now.... #-o :|

I could make my bed just fine. I actually did have common sense. I broke that stereotype. Actually work as an electrical engineer at a nuke plant now.

That, sir, is an unfair and accurate stereotype. Just ask my wife... Congrats to EP for being the un-common genius.

I knew a guy who took the ASVAB (probably couldn't make his bed either, but that's not the point of this spam) twice his senior year. The first time he scored a 20 or lower (just below the cutoff for being to stupid to stop a bullet for a CO). The second time he actually scored lower. He was very special.

Been bogged down with all sorts of things to which I won't go into detail on because I really don't need to vent and no one probably cares.

The initial release will contain these three elements:
1. standard missions
2. faction missions (where you can choose the faction you are fighting for.
3. tournaments
4. battle royals (last bot standing wins)

Obviously the release is delayed a bit due to my absence but not by a whole lot. I should be able to get back to work on it now.

And so i'm not accused of spamming:
Thanks for the update, OS...now quit playing with your TF toys & get back to releasing 2.0.

Thanks for the update. #2 intrigues me. Does this mean a mercenary element has been added to the game, so that you can chose to fight for any faction no matter your chosen faction?

Dang. That would have been 10 shades of awesome. So 1 and 2 are more or less the same thing right? Just 1 is generic missions like we have now and 2 is more specific missions?

Pretty much.

The faction based missions will not only allow you to change factions (remember, we've said that's a long and painful process) but will also allow you to advance through the "ranks" of your faction.

I'm hoping that allowing the faction changes don't cause it to become a 1 faction game; where one faction jumps to a early domination and then people start leaving the other factions to join that one. That would blow.

All in all though, I'm looking forward to V2 more then RotF.

"Long and painful process".

Really can't emphasise that enough.

Once people see how it works I have no doubt there'll be cries of "it's too hard!" and there won't be much in the way of self-faction switching.

Long and painful like being run over by a series of cars (which.. probably wouldn't be painful for very long unless you're unlucky enough to survive), or long and painful like being tasered multiple times by a 15 year old taser (which hurt, was really only a 7 on the pain scale). Or long and painful like a dentist drilling without giving you enough novacane?

Considering HMW2 is a little bit away, how about we use that time to try out each one of those on you then when it starts you can do the faction changing thing and tell us which is the closest.

I'll go get the cars. 8)

I've already done the other two, so it'll be pretty fast. I'll go get ready in the road.

while burn's getting the car ready, just know that it's gonna be very difficult to swap factions...not impossible (hint), but very difficult for the mass exodus to occur 8)

As a professional software developer I am all too familiar with the forces that delay a software release date. Although I don't know OS, the fact that this has been a work in progress for many years does not surprise me. Software is time consuming to write and difficult. It is especially difficult if you are programming on your own spare time with your mental leftovers from a long day of programming at work.

I have fantasized about contributing to this project, as I am proficient in PHP, SQL, and JavaScript. My CSS knowledge, however, ain't that good. The reality is I have no mental energy or time at the end of the day to work on a project like this. It would be a lot of fun, but it ain't gonna happen.

And that's why it's taken as long as it has. OS does it in his free time, and then it takes a lower priority to other things in life like family and what not.

All completely understandable, and while I can understand people getting frustrated over the wait, I think everyone's been very understanding and patient with it. So well done to them.
