What If......there was another force behind D-day? If Churchill and Roosevelt had another(non-stalinist) ally? If Hitler, Tojo, and Mussolini were with Megs? WHAT IF?

Why would any version of megatron in all of the incarnations care about the political happenings on earth ?

Because if those factions won, it would make his taking over the Earth much easier. He would have ready allies in case any other country or the Autobots try to interfere, and they would want to help him gather energon in return for 'helping' them win. He would fool the people of course, and spread lies about the Autobots, but until the people realised this, they would be his. Plus not only would they give him energon, they would give him metals and other resources in gratitude. Why fight and expend energy fighting the people to get stuff when if you help them, they will give you anything you want? Then your life is made much easier.

Megatron used human allies in G1 season 2. I can't remember his name but he overthrew the mayor and had the autobots exiled from Earth. There was some story in the comics where he had a human ally as well.

He could have been trading help for power.

His name was Sean Berger but they never really had an arrangement to help each other because Megatron did not really need the humans help so much which it was his intention to betray Berger,and he did, from the very beginning. The Decepticons could have done it without him but from a story perspective it was done that way only to give the Decepticons more credibility to most of the human masses but I still say they did not actually need the help in the long run.
