Hey I like just about everything in the movie so far. I wanted Kay, not Welker. I just can't stand Weaving. I've loathed everything he's been in so far, especially the Matrix movies, man were they horrible.
I was actually a Kaye / Chalk supporter as well, though I wasn't going to complain about Welker / Cullen. I hope that Welker gets to do a few of the other roles at least. It would still be nice to have him be a part of this, even if he's not Megatron.
Here's my current theory about the voice actors right now ... Welker was too expensive to do have someone that wasn't a major actor to do a major character in this movie. Rather than having Welker do the voice of Megatron, they decided that they could save money by having Welker do several of the other voices (maybe Starscream, Ratchet, Barricade, etc) which would free up money to have recognizable voices to do some of the more major Transformers roles. Now that they don't have to pay big bucks to actors like Hugo Weaving or possibly Will Smith for smaller parts that aren't worth those actors time, now they'll have more money to offer those actors for roles that have more screen time.
If my theory doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll be happy to word it differently or explain it better.
The more people that I talk to on the phone about this today, the more I listen to "V" and "Agent Smith" in the movies running in the background while I'm working on the galleries and the more I think about this casting ... the more I think I'm really pleased with this choice. It's going to be a different kind of Megatron, but we already knew that it was going to be.
