Hey I was just wondering once "transformers" have found something to turn into. IE optimus primal ape form e.c.t. can they switch to something else if they would like to? Do they restore to their original form once they reach Cybertron or something? Because it would be more 'tactical' to switch into several things.

Also I am done with the Second beast wars season and about to watch the third. Are the golden disks alien? How did Megatron encript that video on it? Or is one human and one alien.

Right... I believe they can change whenever they want, but we imagine its very energy consuming and a long process (Primal was in the CR chamber when his was done, maybe it drained energy?). Plus, typically, a character will choose the best form for his military duty. Rattrap a rat because its small and quiet, good for spying and espionage, so they wouldn't have to keep choosing since they'd already have a decent form.

One disk is alien, and one is human (sent aboard the Voyager sattelite in real life). Megatron intercepted the disk and burned a code into it. The resemblence between the disks is purely coincidental.. i think.

Have fun watching Season 3, it gets real good

Yeah, one was the golden disk which was launched on board the Voyager space probe. The disk is real, and is more of a gold record which has various music and sounds from earth on it. The markings match almost exactly. More about the disk here:

Megatron intercepted the probe and encoded a secret message, and put the codes to the Ark within the message. This is the disk that BW Megatron stole from the Maximals on Cybertron, and set off his "Agenda".

The second disk was alien, and discovered by Inferno at the tail end of the first season. The markings were completely different, however other than that, they look identical. It's never been explained why.

Both disks were destroyed. The first by Dinobot, and the second shortly thereafter when Megatron attempted to use the disk to gain control over a powerful alien device.

Alright thanks for the help. But why was the voyager disk such an artifact? Just because they respect the human race or something? Also what do you think is the best series to watch when I am done with beast wars. Thanks.

G1 Megatron inscribed a message into it, that is its importance (to the series at least)

It also gave the location of Earth, which according to them at the beginning of the series, was a rich source of energon. The Predacons, with the exception of Megatron, had no idea about the message. All this was pretty much kept mysterious, until the second season, when it was confirmed that they were really on Earth.

the way i understand it, the process has very little to do with choice, although on occasion it does happen.

One must find a "compatible" form that in somewat correlates with personality, environment & spark.

Although the Predicons had Tarantualaus find "suitable" forms nad he was able to choose his own spider incarnation, he is a mad genius and scientist, therefore has more skill at the processes involved and twisted evil to make unnatural adjustments.

While with most Beasts and Cybertronians, the natural process involes a scan that finds a suiable form. If no forms exist, the bot stays in stasis until a shape can be found.
