Animated Cliff Jumper

Nothing crazy. Just a minor sculpturing, a nice clean repaint with the stinger mod. Made his

"Stingers" into a one piece, then added a magnets for easy attach/detach. Last, I slpped on

three Repro decals on this bad boy! Enjoy fellas!

if it werent for the paint job being so nice i would swear hasbro made this.. that head sculpt is perfect from what little weve seen of Cliffjumper :APPLAUSE:

Thanks! This was an attempt to custom an Animated TF figure. :grin:

I don't know if you've seen my past cliff custom before? What I was thinking of doing next as an experiment is to paint another bumble bee with metallic collors like the one below.

im all for metallic's on transformers dude.. i hadnt seen the other Cliffjumper custom before.. but that red is awesome!!

may i ask, how do you get such a glossy coat on your metallics? and do you use and airbrush or spraycans? i mentioned in another thread a few days ago, but ive got 3 kitbash/customs im working on at the moment.. and for painting them im looking for as much expertise as possible! :)

To achieve this type of gloss finish you ofcourse need paint that's says "Gloss" i.e. Gloss Red. Or you can try laying down several coats of Clear coat on top of you base color.

Majority of my customs are airbrushed, but most of detailing are done with a regular brush or tips (pointy brushes). A can would also work if you are on a budget, after all buying an airbrush set can be pricy, another factor is choosing the one that will work best for you. But like I said if you are on a budget and don't want to worry about airbrush maintenance, just stick with the good'ol Tamiya spray can.

something else you might be able to help me with (if you dont mind me picking your brains?) ...transparent/translucent plastics.. is it possible to change their colours?.. more specifically.. the red on the deluxe animated two-pack Megatron.. mines on the workbench at the moment becoming animated Galvatron.. i havent decided what to do with the clear red parts colour wise yet, but would something like an ink coat change its colour? or blend with the red? ie, blue ink making it clear purple instead of red..

sorry for rambling, but ive been racking my brains about this for a while now :?

The only solution to changing that acrylic plastic color is to spray any clear paint over it, only clear paint, otherwise it wouldn't be tranlucent at all. :grin:

As far as choosing a color for that red area, it's up to you. The best tip I can give you is to purchase a transparent red sheet (available at you local hobby shop or art store) and spray different shades of clear.
