Will Dreadwing be a lazy re-use of Skyquake's animation model? (I haven't watched the preview, so excuse this if it's been answered).

Well, if you've seen the pic of his toy, the answer is most likely a given.

The 12-minute preview was just the first 12 minutes of episode 27. No Dreadwing in there.

Well I took a long walk I have seen worse horrors on TV. and I thought to myself "maybe I'm just mad." So now that I rewatched mosted episodes I've grown accustomed to the show (Still confused as to how Rescue bots are in continuity with Prime and __ of cybertron but whatever) I still stand my thoughts that "Convoy" & "Rock bottom" are crap episodes, My hatred for Miko, Starscream, & Arcee still stands, & My thought on using Unicron too early haven't change that plus MLP is ending soon so hey I might as well come back.
But while we're on subject with characters: I just hope Dreadwing isn't a throw away character like the last two con's we had (okay Skyquake returned but he's a Zombie in a alternate dimension.)

So, do you mean you only rewatched the episodes you saw before, or did you also watch ones you hadn't yet seen? As I said, only three episodes are filler (but one of those three, will later no longer be filler).

Simple. The games take place eons ago, body changes and modifications happen over time, and Rescue Bots has as different an art style as G1 and the Beast Era did.

I still stand my thoughts that "Convoy" & "Rock bottom" are crap episodes, My hatred for Miko, Starscream, & Arcee still stands,

Oh, and it's been officially confirmed that Miko isn't dumb.

& My thought on using Unicron too early haven't change that

Yeah, that's something. On one hand, they played the ultimate villain card so early in the game, that anything afterward shouldn't be able to top it, or if anything does top it, then it would disgrace this show's portrayal of Unicron. but on the other hand, now that they've gone and gotten the cliche use of Unicron out of the way, they are nowfree to come up with more original and creative stuff.

plus MLP is ending soon so hey I might as well come back.

But it's getting a third season.

They say he's supposed to have a "compelling character arc". But, we've seen his toy, so we now know what he looks like.

You say that now about Dreadwings "big character arc" but you know who else was getting heavily promoted? Cliffjumper, and we all know what happen to him.

Cliffjumper wasn't advertised as having a whole story arc to himself. He was just advertised as some cool dude to be seen in episode 1.

Besides, Cliffjumper got his own 96-page comic that came out before episode 1 even aired. And, he's being featured in the Fall of Cybertron game.

Uh...I seem to recall Makeshift and Skyquake being introduced BEFORE Knockout, Breakdown, and Airachnid. So, who were the "last two"?

Technically Breakdown was introduced before Skyquake & Makeshift but yeah that was a flub. The character I want to see some development is Soundwave.

What do you mean? My comment about a "flub" was the comment I made about during my brief discussion about Dreadwing. I said that I feared he was a going to be a one off character like Skyquake & Makeshift however I said "the last two" forgetting that Airachnid & Knockout were the last two con's introduced (Breakdown doesn't count since he appeared in the comic of 2010) so when I was making a correction in what I ment. The "flub" was ment for my comment last page. And no I don't take everything I dislike as non-canon if that was the case I'd be writing angry/hate letters to Steven Blum.

He made a mistake. Simple as that. He forgot about Knock Out and Airachnid. And he is so right about Breakdown, cuz Breakdown appeared WAY before episode 10.

Anyway, switching onto a new topic..

I ended up watching the 12 minute preview, was pretty awesome. The writing, if anything, has seemingly taken a step up, and Megatron seems to be really really chill, I don't think he raised his voice above his normal talking voice, even when he threatened to rip out voiceboxes, talked to airachnid about what she tried to do, or even when Knock Out questioned him...suddenly I wonder if he'll be even worse than he was before when Orion ends up leaving.

Seeing as how that's the most he's done up until now, it's a start. But Soundwave needs to do more than just be "Mr. Creepy-vibes".

I get that they're trying to make him like Snake Eyes, but Snake Eyes was more active and did more stuff. Soundwave has mostly just stood around looking ominous.

I get that they're trying to make him like Snake Eyes, but Snake Eyes was more active and did more stuff. Soundwave has mostly just stood around looking ominous.

Yeah. He's like a Decepticon version of Ratchet in TFP. Barely goes into the battlefield, and gets about one episode (or one moment) to look badass before returning to his "servant" state.

Yea it'd be cool if soundwave got an entire episode dedicated to him like Arcee and Airacnid got in "Predatory." also I wish he could develop a weapon of his own instead of relying on Lazerbeak for firepower. Arm mounted sonic cannon possibly??

Having seen what he did to Airachnid, I don't think he needs a weapon. That said, the Autobots all lack personalized weapons; just a visually unique but mechanically common arm cannons. Well, not including their melee weapons, but like I said, this version of Soundwave obviously doesn't need weapons in close-range combat.

If we think we think about it,in many continuities we never get to so what's on Soundwave's head.I think one of the best character development of him was Transformers Animated,were he though Machines were genuinely better than humans and preferred converting the Autobots than destorying them.

Marvel UK personified Soundwave greatly! In those comics (but sadly not the American ones), he was diligent, cunning, tactical, ingenious, and even had a slight shred sense of morality. He was something of the Decepticons' de facto leader whenever they became leaderless. That's right, he took command when there was no leader, in spite of Starscream holding the title of Decepticon Second-in-Command. And of all the Decepticons to ever take command throughout the course of the comic, he seemed to be the most competent and most successful, coming up with plans that not only worked but worked more than once! Of course, his terms as leader in the present day were always short, as he was still loyal to the likes of Megatron and Shockwave, and so would willingly step down whenever either returned. After all, he was a de facto leader rather than the official leader.

In the U.S. Marvel Comics, however, he was just another soldier (but a good one, nonetheless), and in the cartoon, he was Megatron's Yes Man.

One thing that has been well established is that he is Megatrons most unwaiveringly loyal minion and the second most feared of all Decepticons. When Megatron was comatose, Starscream didn't dare simply dispose of him and take over. Soundwave was always there, always watching, and it was clear that Starscream wouldn't dare try to take him on. He had to appeal to Knockout to try and convince Soundwave it was a lost cause. That makes it more interesting that Starscream would nominally be in charge during that time. The only reason Soundwave wouldn't have been is a lack of ambition to do so. But he could be. Also there is the fact they almost convinced him to pull the plug, as it were, at one point. That may mean his complete loyalty is not to Megatron personally but to the position of rightful leader of the Decepticons, willing to transfer it to a new leader only when the old one is truly a lost cause.

So, to sum up:

The show hasn't developed Soundwave any further than what's written on his bio. He's been like this all throughout the first season and, up until the last episode, never really did anything that major. He's be a static character who is mostly just intimidating in appearance alone (up until, again, the last episode).

I'm not saying he needs to speak or anything, but he at least needs to do more than just "stare and scare" the other Cons.

Amazingly, there's been very few comics for this continuity, and he hasn't been focused on in any of them.

But, he has been given a lot of insight in Exodus, which pretty much jibes well with your description of him. Then there's his role as a playable character in WFC.

I do find it interesting, in Prime he's only spoken by echoing others, and all we know of him comes from how his presence echoes off others.

Yeah, that aspect of his is very cool. Makes ya wonder how he'd convey himself when put in a solo situation.
