i have a bot who was a level 4 with 38 upgrades. i know you need 40 upgrades before you can advance to level 5 upon your next upgrade. when i gave him his 39th upgrade though, he mysteriously jumped to level 5! what the hell?!

There are level limits in place that are based on XP.

hahaha. you're so encouraging Burn. i know there are exp limitations per level. i'm trying reach it with HallowJack. the bot in question though, is the Crudgle. he was the number 1 level 4 with around 4.8 million exp. only about 1.2 mil more than the next bot in line. he had two more upgrades available before he advanced upon his 3rd. i upgraded him once and he leveled. if it was an exp thing, i would've expected him to level before the upgrade was even put into effect. does that explain it a little better?

It's not automatic, it only happens when you either reset or upgrade.
