Truth is, if I had not already known it was Hugo Weaving as V, I would have never guessed it was him. That V voice is great, but it has nothing similar to Smith, which is good.

We really have no idea what this Megatron will sound like with him voicing it.

Ok that officially rates about a 9 on my awesome meter.

is that clip real!?!?!? i can now see weaving being a great voice for megatron. are there still ppl out there hating weaving? or liking?

my fear is, that Hugo, will just do the saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame voice he has always done. And worst yet, if Hugo tries to voice him, in an impersanation of Welker, then what would have been the point of hiring him at all? ALso, kaye well just have gotten the job, they both have similar ranges, and he would have been cheaper. This, in my opinion, is just not Megs, we waited so long, and yet, we got shorted so bad. I would have rather have Hugo, play this villan, not being Megs, then at the end, having Megs come out of freezing cryo, and hearing Welker, for the sequel, then creds roll. That my friend, is how they should have done it. Imagine, a destroyed Hugo decep, saying " awaken my lord...." then hearing Welkers voice as Megs wakes up....dude, .....thats a way better tie in.

I'm a little late to the 14 page party. I made it to page 4 then gave up reading everything. HA! Anywho, I think this is a very good choice for megs. I always had hesitations about Welker as megs. I'm down with Hugo Weaving, I think he'll add a scray voice to a scary villian.

As for Welker, here's hoping he lands a lesser role or at least some awsome cameo.

with the V speech is the actual thing and somebody just removed that audio and put the Smith audio on it on that other vid.

Hugo Weaving doing the same voice in every role?

Just curious, what movies with him in it have you seen?

I do agree with what you are depicting would be awesome for us fans, but it would never ever happen.

no I agree, he has the same voice for a majority of the roles he plays. The only differences that are major as far as the films ive seen him act and v.a. in, are the accents of his characters. I personally beleive he is a bad choice for this movie, not because I dislike his work (I think he is rather mediocre, and hasn't really made a big impression, with the exception of playing "agent smith"), but I simply beleive he wouldn't work as a V.A. for megatron, unless they HEAVILY synthesize his voice.

As for the poster's idea above, that is the way they definetly should have done it, because that will definetly get fans excited for the sequel.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Welker should be Megatron, hugo should be Blackout.. but not megs,Hugo Weaving's voice isn't all that...It's because he's a live actor versus Voice, what a jip, based on appereance versus actual talent.. it takes more talent to be a believeable character behind the camera then it does infront where you can show blatent emotions with facial jestures, and even then Hugo Weavings facial moments where something that was left to be desired.. What a crappy move on the directors, simply due to movie popularity.. they will do what ever it takes to bring in big names to try to bring people to see this movie, even if it doesn't fit that part..what a crappy choice, i'm disgusted with this...Money talks, popularity walks, adn casting will suck for this movie..mark my words.. Huh.. to think Bay offered DMX a chance to be Jazz...what a F#$##%^ Moron!!!

It is one of V's line in V for Vendetta.

He is killing a squad of gunmen and then it is just him and the leader and the guy is shooting him and yelling "Why won't you die?" and then he grabs the guy says that line and kills him before going off and laying down to die himself.

One thing that kinda bugs me....they said cost was an issue, & that Welker was expensive enough to just do Megs that they might as well use a name actor....but IIRC, Welker himself has said in interviews that what usually wins people over is that not only can he do whatever voice they hired him for, but can add in other voices where needs be....to me, that almost sounds like a better deal sure he may cost a bit extra but you'll have him on standby to fill in a few minor roles without having to hire some peon to fill the role. Dunno, it's just a thought.

Ah, my memory is bad! I love that movie, and I think he did a fine voice job there. :)

Anyhow, I think they kinda had tough decision between Welker and Weaving.

Like this one I found of Welker with Cullen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sICSbW8iilc&NR

Compared to this posted here earlier:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-PXgWJL800&NR

With only Welker:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjEmfYSVG8g

And then Weaving:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2LoNrhRj4Y&mode

That's almost hard to chose, at least for me.

I don't know. I'm a huge fan of Welker, and I agree with what you're saying in principle, but I don't think your argument applies to this partiuclar movie simply because there aren't many superfluous characters in Transformers that Welker could voice "on the side". Most of the bots are, I think, going to have an actor dedicated to each one, which leaves little other voice work that needs to be filled. It's not like the animated movie where there was a plethora of "extras" or supporting robot cast members that would have one throwaway line.

That said, I'd be more than relieved if they had hired Welker and then used his voice to dub over Bernie Mac.

Man, there are too many cry babies in this fandom. I'm looking forward to him being Megatron. Hopefully this will mean they are trying to give Megatron some culture rather than just being the "evil leader guy". I'd rather see someone who plays Megatron as a genius leader who just wants to make everything better for Transformers and considers all other life as fodder. And by the way, when was the last time Welker attended a Botcon or any other Transformer convention? He wouldn't even take 5 minutes to record a couple of lines for Beast Wars cause he wouldn't get paid for it. I'm all for this and all you cry babies need to go home and get your diapers changed.
