I heard that Hugo Weaving's never seen the movie, is this true? If it is I'm not that surprised-his role wasn't large it was like 10 minutes max and he perosnally doesn't care for big budget blockbusters and science fiction films, he prefers low budget films which would explain why he hasn't been in hollywood or even in the U.S. since 2006...Whatever the case is, at least he was flattered enough to lend his voice for Bay's wishes. Although Movie Megs isn't the best performance he's ever dished out, far from it but he fit the bill along with the many filterations to his voice.

Thats funny to hear that he doesn't care for sci fi or blockbusters...

Weaving doesn't do movies or summer blockbusters for that matter, for the money, nor does he do them because their big franchises. Case in point: He turned down the Matrix script 2 times before even accepting the role of Agent Smith.

Hugo Weaving is a very vesatile and very passionite actor, he is by all means no money grabber becuase if that were the case he'd still be in the U.S., and he hasn't since 2006. A friend of mine ahd the fortune of meeting him once, Weaving told him how much he doesn't like being apart of this Hollywood glaze and misses doing smaller projects. Which would explian why we don't see him heavilly in the U.S. territory. I guess he does these certain blockbusters for the passion and intrigue of trying out roles, but I think in the case of Megatron it was mostly flattery. Sicne Bay invisioned him for the role.

thats intersting i never new that about him but he was in 2 movies before transformers brifge to terribithea good movie for kids, and the marine with jhon cena which the one actor made a terminator joke in car chase and hugo looked at him funny in strange way like hes was there before or seomthing.

Weaving wasn't in Bridge to Terabithia or The Marine.

Heh, I got the impression he like roles that considered humans to be scum. Case in point: Elves look down on humans (ego), Mr. Smith considered humans to be smelly, and Megatron considered them disgusting and to be exterminated.

his choice if he doesnt want to watch it but he should to prep for his role in the new film (if megatron or galvatron is in the next one). I like him as an actor, he made the matrix and v for vendetta for me. But if his heart isnt in it then get Frank Weller or Leonard Nimoy back in.

You have a good point Nealo, while Weaving is a great actor and a very humble man at best I'm not so sure if he has the biggest passion for this franchise. Not only that but he also didn't even attand premiers or press conferences for the first movie, even when it was in Australia, his home country. Admitdley it's not one of his most important roles either.

Welker has more passion for Megatron as it would seem, but having played and owning the vidoe game version of the movie on my X-Box 360 Welker's voice didn't quite match the movie's verison of Megatron, at least in my opinion. Weaving's sounded much more animalistic and and a bit younger, which fits since it can be said that movie Megs is younger than Prime. Then again Weaving's voice, like many others, were heavily distorted. I mean I've been quite a follower to Charlie Adler's career as a voice actor and know all his roles by heart, from Buster Bunny to Mr. Bighead to even Mrs. Bighead and Cow & Chicken, I didn't recognize him at all in his two lines and I've even seen footage of him performing his lines, they harldy match. Weaving's that entirely distorted as was Adler's or Darius McCray's, but he was a bit unrecognizable. Although as I've seen the footage of him doing the lines for the first, he doesn't sound what we Transfans would call "brilliant" which I recall one particular fan here said in regards to Weaving's performance. The distortion did most of the magic, it seems.

But who knows? There are still two more movies left, maybe more depending if the next ones are as or more sucessful( financially) than the first, if Weaving gets a call back maybe he'll put more passion for the role the next time around. Roles can grow on actors, sometimes. But like I've said, Weaving's not the big budget craver gusy like Keanu Reeves, Will Smith, and Shia LaBeouf are.

He should be happy that people at least watch this, not like his latest Australianfilm The Tender Hook which is a bunch of arty farty crap funded by the taxpayer (or artistic work for the dole as I call it).
