I will say that while I'm rather indifferent to the character designs, I am impress with how well they were able to capture the cartoony look of the characters in actual transformable toys. And he definitely looks like he's solidly constructed.
I am glad though that Beast Wars was the current Transformers show when I was younger that was like a high point and everything since has kinda been a downward slide.

I'm trying, but it's hard. We've been disappointed time and again, and what I've seen so far hasn't been too awesome.
beastwars surprised people
Yes, because of how good the show is. But right now we're talking about the toys, the first Seasons's worth of Beast Wars Transformers looked more like Transformers than these Animated figures. Some Beasties figured had stuff like animal heads on chests (which was like the car hoods as chests) and familiar-looking robot heads (Primal, Megs, Cheetor kinda looked Prowl-like, etc). The Animated figures... [will enter comment once I've 'given it a chance']
and apperently, so has the movie.
Yikes, we must have lowered our expectations since Beast Wars...

when you mention it, yeah. the one eyed thing on the head clearly must be Shockwave.

Ha, I agree.
Even if everyone on this site thought these molds were trash, Hasbro would still make a killing, because this show is not going to be marketed for 15-40 year olds, but under 12's, and is going to have a prime time spot on cartoon network. A prodominant childrens show network, with a toy line that 99% of buyers will be little kids (or the parents of).
I find it funny how much grown adults can whing and bitch about how a toy looks. The only reason why? Its because you can. Majority are going to take back what they said in a few months anyway.
When all the movie line toys were coming out, all I saw was no stop threads about how much they all sucked. Now majority of those people bashing them months ago, now own them all, and love them (par a few).
Its just the early stages of a pathetic fanboyism. Be happy that they are taking the time to make a new series, with new toys.
Just wait til they come out, and you have it infront of you, in your sweaty little palms to bash it then.... Its a proto ffs...
So I'm not allowed to have an opinion? I'm not allowed to look at something and say "I don't like how that looks"? Why, because my opinion doesn't agree with you? I don't have to take a bite of dog crap to know that it's going to taste like crap.

Anyway, Shockwave or Megatron, I do like the robot mode. I'm not entirely sold on the vehicle mode though. I'll have to wait until I see it in person for a final opinion.

Not sold on the alt mode, I'll have to see it in it's actual colours, but the robot mode looks like it's more than decent.

As for this toy line as a whole, I'm looking foward to it, I'm looking forward to another line Cyb and the Classics. Those are the style of tfs that really apeal to me (as well as the more relaistic ones and most things G1). Anything to steer the franchise away from movie style designs for the tiem being (dont get me wrong, I like most of the movie tfs I have, but apart from leader prime, none of them would make my top 50, they're all too ugly, awkward and generally not much fun to play with).

The only time I have evr seen the fandom in complete unison was when classics came on the seen, and all the purists were all over it like white on rice, but if you were at all opposed to any of the designs, sans Nerf megatron, you got lynched like stink on shite!! Geez!!!

Masterpieces and alternators were terrific, and the movie line has been more intricate than previous main lines, classics were a nice balance between realism and cartoon accuracy; it's great to have a new aesthetic as a change of pace. And I'm impressed how cartoony they've been able to keep the new animated toys and still have workable transformations.

Interesting theory -- it does look quite a bit like Shockwave, especially with the single eye within the helmet. On the other hand, all promotional material clearly marks this sculpt as Megatron. My (wild) guess? It's Megatron, but the eventual Shockwave figure (assuming that they make one, since he's apparently slated to show up at some point in the series) will be a partial repaint with a modified headsculpt. For some reason I think they'll establish a familial connection between Megs and Shockwave as well, though I really have no basis for that assumption.
And am I the only person who thinks that this "jet" looks like a partially transformed gun? Flip the nose around, fold the wings down into some kind of handle, and there you go. Or it could be a cannon, if the nose is flipped around and the wings are folded down such that, with the back end, it forms a sort of tripod.
On second thought, the purple repaint of this figure will probably be Galvatron rather than Shockwave.

I agree with the post a couple up...very cool if it were a Playskool Go-bot/Transformers. As a REAL Transformer for people over the age of 7...Eh, no thanks.
