Well I'm glad my suspicions that the rhino mode jaw wouldn't close all the way have been alleviated. His size is rather troubling though...

Must get!

So the real question is ... who does this get repainted or remolded into?

Killed the images to prevent this from becoming unnecessarily huge.

Doesn't stop me from liking this figure, though.

I've been complaining about those things since day one. Also the head is all wrong, it's not just the lips, the head looks like it was designed by an artist who saw a pic of the head once and then had the details explained to him over the phone while designing it.
I'm hoping for a 3rd party kit that rectifies all the major issues, and then I'll just paint it myself.

I have the Henkei, and in hand it's still just OK. The biggest problems being the size, had it been Voyager tehre would have been more mass to work with. On top of that the tail weapon is rendered crap due to the way the tail was sculpted, the sword, while chromed, is short and rounded making it look pathetic, oh and I really hate the rubber parts.
Sure the paint job is nice, but paint can't fix design shortcomings of the sculpt.

I was under the impression that the current-gen voyagers are taller than they were in the past. The deluxe class are definitely smaller these days though.

Oh totally forgot about the Springer and Blitzwing molds, I was basing this on Prime voyagers.

Evil muted colours Rhinox from that one episode, and maybe they'll create a new character or add a few parts and call it Tankor. There really isn't a whole lot they can do with this.

Also, I just realized I completely forgot to say something about these new pics, damn despite the problems I have with this, the toy is even more awesome than the original pics suggested!

I just picked up the Beast Wars Transformers collection on DVD.
I want them to do the rest of the BW characters. hmmmmmm imagining the hot scenarios between Blackarachnia and Silverbolt.

All guesses till now have been wrong, completely.
Rhinox is going to get repainted as Rattrap, no remolds or anything, just a simple repaint with the justification that they're both "beasts and have a similar chest and head concept.

Think about it. That's something Hasbro would do. Yea I know we're getting a Rattrap, and it's supposed to be a Deluxe, but that listing could be false.

Universe Dinobot and Cheetor never got repaints/remolded. (not including Henkei)

I need him. I needed Rhinox and Waspinator yesterday.

Might even clash with Springer being one of the best designed Transformers toys, it looks so good.

Don't you think that saying the head is all wrong is just the teeniest bit hyperbolic? For goodness' sake, they included the maximal symbols on either side of his pseudo-mohawk!
The color i'll give you, that is a few shades off. But there's only so much you can do for show-accuracy and non-sloppy modes, if they had his chest look more accurate, then his rhino mode jaw would have been gigantic. And honestly i didn't even realize he had spikes there haha, but again, that would have resulted in a spiky rhino leg.
Trust me, when you have to bring up the fact that he doesn't have lips, you're scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Agreed, it's not 100% accurate, those are all valid points. But those points are small enough for me to forget about and chock this one up to "completely show accurate" in my book. Again, i know it's not, but i'm not concerned about lips or leg spikes

In spite of the attempted show-accuracy, there are still some key differences between this head and that of the CG model:

Not unless they work some magic and "cheat" a bit, to give him a giant jaw in robot mode and normal jaw in beast mode.

Not unless they were to flip in and out during the transformation. The original toy had them hidden in beast mode.

But are they not among the most iconic aspects of his face?



I mean, Cheetor and Tigatron have their cat snouts, Rattrap has his buck teeth, Dinobot has his rigidity; these are all memorable parts of their faces that help identify who they are. This new Rhinox toy has a much more generic-looking face that happens to have a similar mohawk and chin strap beard.

Of course, this is all just nitpicking, as I still want the figure (rather, the Takara version, that is).

Still, I do gotta wonder why they didn't just stick to the CG model's details from the beginning, since Emiliano Santalucia (who designed this figure) did say that he was trying to follow the BW cartoon look for this toy. Yet, the final result still show otherwise.

instead of talking about how much its not cartoon accurate and nitpick everything about it
one could say since its a "Generations" toy that being said it was never meant to be show accurate but look more modern better design just like all the other Generations toys looks better than the show or the original toy, he looks tougher more bad-ass!
