Yeah, pics are gone though. While that will help speed things up (if it's intentional) removing the db calls entirely would probably help more.

That would be my doing. A long overdo aesthetic change I made a few weeks ago. Just switched the names on the two.

And weapons should now be balanced as far as damage range vs stats.

Recharge Times are still a bugger though, so at the moment, they make the distinction between a 'good' weapon and a 'crap' weapon.

All I know that I can manipulate is weaponry. OS gave that ability to Mkall, AS, and eventually me last Fall/Winter. I added the Grenades way back then actually.

Hypothetically I have access to armor too, but OS told me not to touch it. Something about crossing the streams...

What was the point of OS giving you the admin panels and then telling you not to use them? :BOOM:

Nice idea might be if every one in the game donated say 5 dollar to buy our own server. Then it wouldn't be so much a pay to play deal just a one time thing. Of course I don't know what a server costs or how many players would donate money.

Wouldn't there be ongoing monthly server fees?

I think Ryan said something about the one Seibertron.com server costing him between $100-$200 a month.

We can debate back and forth about the legality of people donating money. But the way I see it, you do NOT have to pay to play the game, you simply make a donation. Whether you donate or not doesn't impact on your ability to play and the money recipients are NOT doing so to make a profit.

Well i bet there is 100-200 players that would donate a dollar to have our own server I know I would. I'm not any law specialist at all but like your saying if it's a donation I don't see how we would be breaking any laws

Unfortunately I'm going to have to chime my opinion in.

One of the main reasons I play this game is because it's free. Hell, many people play this game because it's free, so having to pay for new server wouldn't be in my, or probably very many more people's, best interests.

That's what everybody thinks, but a donation of $1 would be an appeal to your moral / guilt. not Everyone will donate but if a group of players would donate some and others not there would still be a balance.

and come on.. what's $5 on the amount of time some people spend here?

Lets not get ahead of ourselves.
Volonutary Donations are a potential solution, but lets not get hung up on the idea just yet, there has to be other options out there - we all want to find a way to save this game.

Okay, rather obviously we have only two ways to save the game here; reduce the server drag it creates or increase the site's computing power. Now it seems to me that killing the arena nearly did it as the site sloe downs were isolated incidents instead of a constant problem. Is there anything else we can take out of the game? Maybe some random code left from previous deletions?
