I've been trying to explain to my friend how th Japanese beast wars and other series fit in to the original time lines and such from our American series, if that is to say, that we incorporated everything thats been done so far..how do you separate it?


MILLIONS OF YEARS AGO The Great War
begins, as Cybertrons/Autobots and Destrons/Decepticons choose up sides.

4,000,000 B.C. Autobots and Decepticons crash-land Ark on Earth and enter hibernation mode (as seen in the original Transformers cartoon).

~2,000,000 B.C. The Pretenders arrive on Earth and disguise themselves as humans and mythical beasts.

1,000,000 B.C. The Beast Wars begin on Earth when Optimus Primal and the Maximals travel to Earth’s past
(Beast Wars).

1984 A.D. Optimus Prime’s Autobots
and Megatron’s Decepticons wake up.

2005 Optimus Prime dies, Hot Rod becomes Rodimus Prime and planet-
killer Unicron’s body is destroyed (Transformers: The Movie).

2011 The diminutive Nebulons agree to become the heads and guns of the much larger Transformers (Headmasters).

~2018 Pretenders reveal their existence on Earth; humans begin to bond with lifeless Transformer shells.

~2025 Earthlings join the Cybertrons (led by Star Saber) to form the Space Defense Force (Transformers: Victory).

~2100 The nine great Destron generals
are resurrected; a wounded Star Saber turns power over to Dai-Atlas (Transformers: Zone).

~2102 Optimus Prime (Convoy) is brought back as Star Convoy to fight Super Megatron (Battlestars/Return of Convoy).

~2310 Optimus Primal (no relation) goes back in time to 1,000,000 B.C. and turns into a gorilla (Beast Wars).

~2315 Lioconvoy and the Cybertrons face Galvatron and his Destrons (Beast Wars II).

Note: In the theatrical film, Lioconvoy pulls in Optimus Primal to help them at one point, but they might have yanked
him through time.

~2316 A year after Lioconvoy disappears, Big Convoy is pressured into taking his new Cybertron trainees to track down the fate of Lioconvoy’s crew. They are confronted by the menace of the mighty Magmatron and his Destron cadre, and Unicron returns (Beast Wars Neo).

So where does Robots in disguise/Car Robots fit?

What about the Unicron trilogy series, Armada, Energon, Cybertron?

Whats the deal with transformers universe?

Then there is movie time lines, IDW, and Dreamwave, Marvel comics, ect.. ect..where wili it all end up? I just want one time line and one continuity per series, is that so wrong?

That' a pretty good synopsis of the animated reality (pre-RID). I consider the comic book continuities as alternate realities, with each publisher representing a different reality. According to Simon Furman, there are endless possibilities/realities out there, so you can pick and choose which one(s) you like best, and enjoy/disreguard the others as you like. I prefer to ignore may of the Japanese ones until I can get good, translated copies of them to think about. Hope that helps a little

I see at least one small correction. In the japanese TV continuity, there are no Nebulans. They are Cybertron and Destrons from the planet Master who become the Headmasters and Targetmasters.

Also, if in Japan the third season of the TV series is set 5 years after the movie (not 1 year like in the US), shouldn't Daniel be 4 years older? Or is the movie set in 2009 for them, not 2005?

I'm not sure about the last question, but everything else you say is correct.

skywarp-2, trying to fudge all the continuities into one timeline doesn't work. It's so hard and you'd end up with inconsistencies!

Also, trying to fit comic continuities in with cartoon ones is almost an impossibility. There are too many incongruities, unless you factor in time-jumping and trans-dimensional hopping, the latter of which defeats the object of trying to have one timeline, anyway!

Well, but if we were to try and put the series in chronological order, wouldn't Beast Machines be the last one? Like, ever. Since all of that is after the Beast Wars which was the future of the G1 related continuity.
I know there can't be a lot of rectifing between various timelines, but if the order went G1----BW----BM, and everything else (Armada, RiD, etc.) were to fit into this timeframe somehow, then BM would have been the end of the continuity.

BTW, never saw RiD, but is RiD a bridge series between the Beast ones and everything else, for lack of clarification? Is that why Megatron/Galvatron figures from that line have the Predacon symbol?

Yes and no. It's a seperate continuty from g1/beast & the a/e/c but they have Predacons along side Autobots and Deceticons all together to sort of "bridge the gap" as you said and get people used to the A & D factions for the next series in line.

In RiD the Predacons were the main villains and the Autobots were the good guys.

Later in the series the Decepticons were activated.

But the Preds still lead

Thats what I do too To me G1 stopped at season two, season 3 doesn't exist, and from the G1 movie I can bring some of the characters back to life and undo some events. Or rather, G1 goes about rather differantly after season 2. I have no interest in Beast Wars, so in my continuity, its not the future, but an alternate possible future instead. G1 is not stuck in the '80s, but continues onward to 2007.

I don't know, i kinda like the continuity that has already been established, but I'm very interested in the TFU continuity, where theres an alternate reality in which different versions of Bots, beast and car, or machine alike are pulled from their own timelines to help aide in the final destruction of Unicron.. its kinda cool...

I alos like the whole Council of Primes concept, where in all primes that exist have an individual matrix, which is exactly like the others and all primes share a collective knowledge from each other that is updated as they go along.. so BW Primal shares Knowledge with Optimus Prime from G-1 as well as Lio Prime, and Omega Prime from RID, or Big Convoy, which I dubbed Mega Prime for US translation.. big Prime sounds dumb.. anyways.. they all share in the matrix and all prime are one at the same time, giving them a collective knowledge on how to defeat the decepticons and awareness of huge evil around the universe.. its a really good concept.. and makes the TFU (transformers Universe) series really engaging..Plus you have Maximals, Predacons, Auutobots, Decepticons, Terrorcons, ect.. all together in their famous versions battling along side one another.. its so cool...They should expand on that series and make a TV series out of it, or atleast a direct to DVD movie.. that would be sweet..they could incoporate the Movie prime as well..

hmmmmm... not bad, but I guess mammoth is kind similar to Big...I thought Mega would be close too, but it kinda sounds too much like omega prme...people will get confused...hmmmm... its tough to convert japanese names to %USA bot names...

The only problem I've seen with that is that the Vok were intended to be an evolved form of the swarm (alongside several other comic references), making BW/BM a continuation of neither the show or comic but a third War Within like continuity.

I pretty much disregard the japanese series in relation to G!, and take it as a seperate reality.

according to the time lime I follow.

G1 starts
....
Movie
....
Next Series
.........
Beast wars
.......
Beast machines..

End all G1 related shows.

How about Maximus Prime?

I too long for one TF continuity. If I had my way, it would continue on from the Marvel comics.

That said, I loved the Dreamwave run. Bit put off by IDW starting yet another G1 continuity plus I preferred the Dreamwave characterisations. However, IDW are starting to win me over gradually.

Course when the new cartoon starts.....

Can't be as bad as them trying to get the Cybertron series to be connected to the Armada/Energon series. I mean don't get my wrong, I enjoyed it but all the stupid changes they had to make just to get it to fit irked me.
