Tribute Vids

Postby GremlinGrimlock » Thu Jun 21, 2007 11:23 pm

Those are rnr salutes.,amongst many. An idea popped to mind.Whenever I have the chance to pick up the axe, either do
an original song,or make a trfs medley cover. Post it up here
first.Maybe if so inclined....incorporate the wav into a tribute video of the choice. When there's a chance, will up
some bits,somewhere. .............. .

And tell me, WHY are there ANIMAL transformers like panthers and condors that fold into cassettes, BTW?

Yes, girl-faced Transformers add to the great variety.:) (Hey, Mighty Orbots has two girl heroines and there's also "My Life As A Teenage Robot".)^_^

Also, Wheelie is a child-TF (in the Japanese Headmasters at the very least).

Bear in mind, if you will, that the likes of Ravage, Buzzsaw and Laserbeak already had non-humanoid robot forms long before they came to Earth...

I'd also like to point out that some of the arguments presented (anything involving Quints and Earth-born Dinobots) are 'toon-specific, and can't apply to the other continuities.
In the original comics, Arcee actually was introduced as a booster to human/Autobot relations. IIRC, Jazz questioned the relevance of the redesigned chassis...

 Well untill someone can prove that they really are used to produce young I'll continue to assume that there are no female (or male) TFs, only female (and male) shaped ones.

Zombie Starscream, you and that guy are indeed right about the 7 scientifically accepted signs that define life on Earth. However we are talking about aliens and not Earth based life. If you met an alien that was as intelligent and as capable of expressing emotion as a human, but didn't meet all 7 qualifications would you tell it that it wasn't alive? Would it there fore have no rights on Earth? Would it be ok to 'kill' them as they weren't alive even if they felt pain? Even if they could beg for themselves or their loved ones to be spared?

From what I remember from that thread, he had stated that scientists meant to apply this universally, to not just Earth based lifeforms, but to extra-terrestrial life as well. This would include non-organic lifeforms.

The alien would seem alive to me, but to a scientist it might not be looked on as alive. It wouldn't matter if I said to it if it were alive or not. I wouldn't be rude and say "You are not alive" but saying it or not saying it will not make it alive if it is not. I wouldn't know if it would have rights on Earth. It might, though. If it felt pain, it would not be moral to torture and kill them, as that is cruelty. If they were begging for themselves or their loved ones, killing them or torture would be evil.

The only time I can see that it would be alright to kill the 'alien' would be if it was a proven danger to humanity or the Earth. If it could be sent away without having to kill it, and it would not bother humanity or the Earth anymore, then it should be sent away and not killed.

I hope I didn't inadvertantly come off as condescending in any form. It's hard to not accidently give off the wrong impression when you are limited to text and some emoticons.

Oh, what the other thread was also discussing was whether Tf females had to have whole babies, and not just sparks, inorder for the species to be considered 'alive.' This is not just limited to regular birth, but also laying eggs. He had said that either(I forget where) the cartoon or one of the comics, that it was stated that Tfs had "other untapped ways" of reproduction besides the one they usually do. I used the words 'true reproduction' rather then the words he used: "sexual reproduction." I was afraid this thread would devolve into silliness instead of a serious dicussion, as this guy's first thread did.

I remember a thread a long time back when someone asked why the characters had names like that on Cybertron as well as why they would say things like in MTMTE Part 1 at the beginning like BB saying he broke his rear axle when he was still a "hovercar".

My ASSUMPTION is that some names and statements made at the beginning of G1 were roughly translated to English equivalents. Like we know that they didn't have wheels so they wouldn't have had wheeljacks, so probably Wheeljack's real original name is the Cybertronian equivalent to the Earth tool that is a wheeljack.

His name is Cybertronian; the question was about TFs with names that are Earth-like before coming to Earth.

Actually, it's not Cybetronian. It comes from the 'word' pickup.

I can't remember which issue, but in one of the early marvel comics Jazz says something along the line of "My real name is unpronouncable to you, but you can call me Jazz." The TFs names are just aliases/translations for our benefit, and not their real cybertronian names.

Unfortunately, there probably are people out there arogant enough to tell the alien that it's not alive, and see nothing wrong with slaughtering them. Humans have done terrible things to each other in the past, these hypothetical aliens would probably be horribly abused and exploited if they weren't capable of defending themselves against us.
Just remembered a great quote I read once: "I can imagine a world without war, witho pain and suffering, and I can imagine us attacking that world because it would be the last thing they'd expect."

No, that was a circular device underneath his frame that allowed him to hover.

I can't remember the issue myself (although it'd be a different one in the UK to the US anyway), but it was in the "Man of Iron" story.

Are you sure, or are you just making that up? I'm pretty sure it was a wheel, and it would explain the whole 'axle-breaking' line.
