Game Reset/Version 2, what happens?

Ok, just a quick and maybe stupid question, feel free to roll your eyes to the back of your head.
In HMW 1, you had to buy additional characters. Is this going ot be the case in the new game?
The reason for asking is that i'm concerned about having to play the game for a while before I can buy my old characters back (with names reserved of course).
If we had our 12 characters straight away I'll be happy and happier even if we can have more than the 12.
Cheers!

Hey, thanks for the plug!

So now we all get reset to zero?
That's terrible. I doubt I'd have interest in starting over.
It's just that it's hard to toss away almost four years' worth of data. I have a massive Excel sheet that kept track of all my missions, etc.
I don't know. Maybe I spoke too soon.

Hey all,
I'm pretty sure nobody remembers me, I used to play a lot back when HMW first came out, then I went to college and well I didn't have time anymore. Anyhow, I was wondering if there were any plans to make all the attributes do what their descriptions say they do, like intelligence?
Thanks!

My goal is to release a working program. No broken parts that sit around for years. Everything will do one of 3 things.Spartanion wrote:Hey all,

Along those lines, Glyph frequently talked about the new AI stuff for Intelligence and that attack accuracy would be moved from Speed to Skill (with Speed used as the opposite number of Skill, to be harder to hit). Is that still the plan?

That would be great, every stat will have a greater use.
I'm curious as to how we actually play, will it be played in the same manner, or will it ahve a whole new interface?

Eh.....you know you can't really say it will be one or the other. I mean there WILL be change, just...not everything will change.

... if ONLY names and bios are saved, does that allow us to change faction for V2?
I'm just thinking out loud...

A question thats been bouncing around inside my head too. Also, what about name duplications? Ive mentioned this in a previous post. Will all people on the database be automatically included in V2? (or whatever its going to be called...). If so will we have some problems with bots sharing names?
As im about as computer literate as a lightly concussed stoat, i dont know how these problems would manifest, or if indeed they even would.....
I just dont want to lose my names, and i know at least three of them are duplicated....

Not exactly. I'm having to do intelligence mostly from the ground up.Deadboy wrote:Omega Sentinel wrote:My goal is to release a working program. No broken parts that sit around for years. Everything will do one of 3 things.Spartanion wrote:Hey all,

There will be a detailed explanation of "feeder stats" on the help pages BEFORE the new game launches so no one will be in the dark.
I am fully expecting some of it needing tweeks as people start playing.

Agreed. I've never seen or heard of any software rollout that has gone perfect. Backing up is never a bad thing. But just in case, I am going to back up every peice of code and data before we roll out. Hopefully we won't need it.Tammuz wrote:on a more serious note, i suggest everyone keeps a backup of their Bios, **** happens, even OS can't stop lightning striking the servers.

Individually it would never happen. 'cause he'd be outnumbered and too scared to turn up.
Combined it'd probably never happen either. He needs other Autobots to hide behind.
Like you!

Really looking forward to v2, but have a couple of thoughts....
Is it worthwhile having a cleanse of the players database and clear out any teams that haven't been active for 18 months, 2 years or whatever? With most online games and systems if you don't access your account within 90 days it's put on hold or deleted.
Also, after the reset will there be an opportunity for players to switch faction?

How about one final Tourny . But with something big on the line like a counter to tactics or something like that

OS is quite preoccupied with getting V2 out in time for the movie so i really doubt that their will be an "official" programmer led Tournie, so it's up to the players to organise one themselves.
I have suggested that we hold a mass bounty hunt, seeing which side can post kills for the top 100 players on the other side.
