Minicons are stupid
You know how in Super Mario Bros. you could grab a mushroom and get bigger? Then what happened when you died? You're small again.
Minicons are basically the same way. They're temporary bonuses that aren't necessary to the game. And because they're temporary, you have to keep buying them. This is why they run out of stock so quickly. If they actually stuck around for a while, they wouldn't sell out.
The end result is an influx of minicons, then they completely sell out and are quickly destroyed, and then we return to having no minicons as if they never existed. What's the point?

Once OS has finished his tinkering with the Quint missions, we'll be able to win Minicons into our inventories for the rest of V1.X (however short that is).
And when V2 rolls around, we'll still be able to refurbish our Minicon stocks depending on what territories we control.

I dont want to agree because it looks like they worked hard on them, but I dont like the minicon system either.

You are missing a HUGE chunk of information arnt you.
They are for V2.
When V2 comes into existence, we'll be fighting for different zones of Cybertron, which will unlock different minicons.
The minicons are only active now to test bits and peices of the code.
But fear not, OS is gonna fix the quint missions so that if the Cybertronians win, each faction gets another 1000 random minicons.
Once OS has done some Unknown bashing....
And in all fairness, Ive had a couple of excelent results that are obviously (in part) thanks to an attached minicon, but most of the time they are an expanesive waste of money, so who cares if we aint got any. (Also I actully found one of the most effective was the 2 speed minicon, whereas the 4 speed minicon kept getting me killed. May have been fluke, may be a bug, who knows.)

they really work, it just so happens that we cant get anymore right now until the missions are fixed. then in v2 well get them via new areas and such. so dont think of it as wasting, think of is as getting a taste of v2.
also the stats add on to what you have (except armor) so a courage 10 can becomes a courage 14

Mincrons rn't situpd! u r!
Ok.. That wasn't really called for, but I felt like making a funny at my own expense. Hence the n00b writing.
Seriously though, yes, the minicons where poorly implimented and full of a lot of things that a majority seem to regard as dumb, however, the minicons aren't for version 1. They're for v2, which means v1's code may not support everything planned for the minicons. Hopefully, they'll work better for V2, so let's hold off completely judging minicons as useless until v2 comes out.

Mini-cons are far from useless. Their implementation and use in V2 has been explained, but people seem to have this lovely inability to look to the future of the game and only seem to concentrate on the here and now.

I'm still of the mind that Minicons should also grant tactics (not additions to tactics, but the ability to use them). Imagine a Minicon giving someone temporary use of Strafe of 5 or Ram of 6.

In a Galaxy Far Far Awry issue 1: Serial Fiction Sideshow now for sale.
Issue 2: Home Sweet Home Invasion also for sale.
Back issue 3: Technophobia coming soon. And you can help!

You suddenly have a mind?

That aside ... wouldn't be suprised to see them turn up eventually.

The Real Problem with Minicons
- Weapon: Railgun
While I've yet to try them out (I'm an energon poor newbie), I've read a lot about them and some people like them while others dislike them. However, I think I know what the real problem with Minicons is. The game doesn't support what Minicons really are, gestalts.
Minocons are a special sort of gestalt. However, the game currently has no sort of gestalt support. Hopefully, at some point in the future, gestalt support will be implimented. If that ever happens, I'd like to see the Minicons made a lot more like normal Transformers.
If that was done (a long time off, I know), the Minicons would work like they ought to, rather than simply as a temporary power up. Here's to pipe dreams, flying pigs, and pies in the sky. Cheers.
Seriosly, gestalts would be so cool that having a real Minicon implimentation would just be a little bonus.

Please make sure you guys are being nice to Omega Sentinel. I don't care for some of the blunt and rude comments I see in this thread. OS has been putting a ton of work into this game during the past 4 months. There are big things just beyond the horizon. Please be nice to him ... we don't want to scare him away.

I am not easily scared so no worries

I'm sure there will be players here and there that dislike different changes I make to the game.
For those of you that hate minicons....You have every right to not like them and not use them.
For those of you that like minicons....Congratulations because they work, they are here to stay and there are about to be alot more of them.

I like the idea of Minicons and I know they work but here are my biggest complaints.
1. They die
2. They cost alot of energon
3. Why name your newly bought Minicon just to see it wacked in a fight where you are the only level 4 bot to 6 Cons.
You guys need to think about the investment each player is going to put into their own Mincons. I think they should not die after each loss but be treated as a weapon, meaning it will never go away. But, since they are a sentient life form, should they not have the same CR treatment as the Autobots and Decepticons. Perhaps, have them Unlink them from their respective masters and go into their own CR chamber then later the player would have to manually attach their Minicon to Bot or Con.
This would allow players to include a Bio for their Minicons.

I think Burn hit the nail on the head best when he said that some of you aren't seeing the big picture.
Here are some brief points:
The minicons are SUPPOSED to be short lived. They are STRATEGIC tools meant to help you in SPECIAL circumstances.
The reason why you can name them is just because I thought it would be fun to let you name them. Nothing more.
The new game will have a purpose. If you decide to play the strategic parts (the map) you will be able to use Minicons to help you in decisive battles. They were NEVER planned to be permanent fixtures to your bots to give them super powers.
You will need to be smart about using your Minicons and manage your inventory. Don't expect to constantly be stocked with them. Again, they are STRATEGIC TOOLS meant to add depth and one of many new levels of strategy to the new game.
Again, if you don't like them, don't spend your energon on them. There is nothing in the game that will force you to.

Look on the bright side: everyone's moolah is going to be reset when V2 comes, so why not spend the energon while you still have it?

Welcome to HMW, btw.

I will have to wait untill Version 2 comes out to see how they will affect the game.
I guess, my biggest beef is that if I purchase a Minicon, I kinda would think of it as added member to my team and not just a upgrade.
