The Gundam Virtue is one of the bulkiest mobile suits I've seen in a long time.

that is just silly for CN to censor. Its just a show. By the Bandai should have shown MS Gundam after G Wing because MSG is too old and wasn't a hit when it first aired in Japan they should have Gundam X instead and that will keep the Gundam brand in the Western world alive.

XD. I definitely agree with you. These are some of the coolest looking Gundam designs, yet. Can't wait till October.

I'm sorta liking the mecha designs. I find it cool that the Exia seems to be the first main gundam to only have melee weapons and nothing like a beam rifle or vulcans (so far).

Hopefully having seven blades does something cool like all the blade have some form of Funnel/bit like effect or can combine into one ginormus sword.

I'd like to see some enemies or ships pretty soon though. I'd also like to not see monoeyes, I have nothing against them, I'd just like to see something new.

Actually I think that title belongs to Shinning Gundam from Mobile Figther G Gundam.

As for Exia. It looks nice. Can't wait to see what the successor will be that the pilot gets mid-ways through. It has a lot to live up for if it wants to put the original Freedom to shame.

Nope.

While the Shining gundam was built for melee combat, it did still have projectile weapons.

It had 2 vulcans located in it's head like most main gundam mobile suits, 2 machine cannons located on it's shoulders, and 4 "shining shot" beam cannons, 2 located on each arm (I remember it only being used once in the anime so it's understandable it would be forgotten).

While the Exia has so far been shown to have only the swords, a shield, and nothing else, not even a vulcan.

Choices Choices. I started watching Mobile suit gundam. Yes, that's right the very first orginal serie. Alas my download choices are A. English dubs. B. Japanese raws.
Neither of them is very favorable. I choose option B. Relying on my unpolished japanese listening skills i've aquired over the years of anime watching to carry me through.
After seeing the first episode I came to the conclusion that Gundam Seed is like one big copy paste serie. Crazy. I guess coming up with a new story was too much to ask :P

Having only seen the Gundam Trilogy Movies(dub), and having read other reader reviews, yeah, the first part of SEED is very close to that of the Original Gundam, with the addition of a bunch of other Gundams. But about halfway it differentiates itself, and doesn't have all those crazy Mobile Armors I've seen in the games.

Still, I think Athrun is closer to being a Char-like Character than Rao-La-Cruesette(sp).

Also, I think the original Gundam series is the most popular in Japan, which could be why SEED takes after it in the begining. After all, they constantly make games based on the one year war, 2 of the three OVA's released were based in the One-Year War, the Zaku, Gouf, and Dom homages all appear in Destiny(of which I've only seen about half of). And I even think there are more mangas based on the OYW than anything else.

No to me. Athrun is a Kamille Bidan look alike cuz both have transforming MS,their mother also look alike and their father are scrawed up men.

The official spelling is "Rau Le Creuset".

But yeah, Athrun fits the Char role.

mahq.net has another update on the Gundam 00 Units, this time from other factions.

The Union's transformable SVMS-01 Union Flag(no alt. mode shown, looks like a helicoptor):

Image

The AEU(Anti-Earth Union?)'s transformable AEU-09 AEU Enact(again, no alt. shown, possible helicoptor?):

Image

I'm getting a Zone of the Enders vibe from those two. Very sleek and skinny, like Jehuty. No literal"cockpits" though :P . Man, they need to make a Z.O.E. 3!!!!

Finally, The Human Progessive League's mass-produced MSJ-06II-A Tieren:

Image

Obviously a Zaku/Mono Eye homage without being too Zaku like. Notice the shoulder shields are very much like that of the Zaku II's shoulder shield though. And it looks very heavy and slow. It's gonna get sliced to bits by those other mobile suits I've got a feeling.

Did anyone else notice that the orange Mobile Armor looked a lot like Zeta Gundam's Wave Rider mode?

No "Cockpits" no glory!

I have to confess that I love the UC now though. After seeing the mobile suit gundam movies and moving on with stardust... it's just... better. Better then Wing&Seed&Destiny

Hmmm that new trailer is interesting. Ive been a fan of Gundam for a long time but kind of fell out during Seed, I have like the first 8 japanese DVD's of it but only watched like 5 episodes. The English sub's was just so hard to comprehend at times  .

the 08th MS Squad was my fav fallowed closely by Wing. I also had the F-91 (japanese movie version), G-Saviour, G-Gundam, Chars Counter Attack and a few others.

If anyone didn't know, Big Lots has some Gundam DVD's for sale for $3 apiece. It's kind of random what's where though. At the one closest to me they had the first couple volumes of Gundam SEED, and few volumes of Zeta Gundam(2 DVD's per volume). I have all of Zeta(bought it close after it came out, oh well), and didn't really want to get any SEED in case I find a good deal on it someday.

Went to another Big Lots while out getting books for college today, and I picked up Gundam SEED Movie 3, just for the heck of it. And after watching, I don't know if it'd even be worth picking up the first two. I know they're basicly clip shows, but there didn't appear to be much new footage at all. Still, I only have the TV series taped off CN anyway, so at least I have the final battle uncut, but I prefer the TV version of the Duel destroying the Raider Gundam using the Buster's gun. In the movie version, it's just stock footage of the Buster firing it's rifle, and then it cuts to the beam penetrating the torso of the Raider and it blows up.

Speaking of movie versions, has anyone seen the Zeta compiolation? I know there's new footage and big story changes, but is all the animation redone?

And a nice little tidbit from mahq's mailbag: Dearka was captured by the Archangel midway through SEED and made a "hero" cause of lagging Buster Gundam model kit sales. I find that a little bit amusing.

I finished up my Gundam SEED HG 1/144 Astray Red Frame.

Paints I used:
Tamiya XF2 FLAT WHITE (For hand, arms, stomach, and the back piece on the lower leg)
Tamiya XF7 FLAT RED (Some red parts on the legs, jetpacks, stomach and crotch)
Tamiya X24 CLEAR YELLOW (used on the sword for gold effect)
Tamiya X11 CHROME SILVER (Painted a layer chrome silver on some parts of the scabbard. After it dried it I painted a layer of clear yellow on)

For the head and one shoulder I used the included stickers

Still need to finish my HG 1/144 Kerberos BuCue Hound and my HG 1/144 Strike Noir.

Exactly how large is 1/1200 scale anyway?

Also WZC, very nice job on the Red Frame, I could never get mine to look like that, It's one of my favorite seed models.
