The neighborhood I grew up in, we called the guy across the street from us The Hermit because...well, we never saw anyone enter or leave, just the one guy who was always there. A while after, we noticed someone raking leaves up against the side of his house...also some smoke. The guy quickly tried to hide what he was doing when a firetruck rolled around the corner. We're pretty sure we saw someone attempt to commit insurance fraud, and absolutely certain he was trying to commit arson.

My family has 6 acres of property, 3 of which are wooded, and 3 sides of which are on roads; so we have a pretty private place. But MAN, it makes lawn work a helluva chore. But we have plenty of options when it comes to leaf disposal.

When I used to live in Florida the house I was staying at had property. I would pitch in to help with the yard work and it would take an entire bay to mow the lawn using a riding mower.

There was one day I mowed in a muscle T and forgot sunblock and no one at the house had any to borrow. (I had no car and the closest store was miles away) They were calling me lobster boy for days...

Seriously though, as an independent, I knew months ago I'd be sad this morning. Too much division, and no talking and understanding.

That's the problem. No working together. That hasn't happened in a LONG time. Each party is too busy pointing out the other's faults. I'm not saying Trump would change that, but I know Hillary sure as hell wouldn't have. Only positive I can think of right away is that we'll have the 1st attractive 1st Lady since Jackie Kennedy. Unfortunately that means absolutely nothing in serious politics.

Obama won the first time because a lot of people wanted Palin as far from the White House as possible. He won the second time because Romney spent a good deal of the campaign sticking his foot in his mouth.

You know what really sucks? He was declared the winner before Michigan had finished reporting its ballots. Meaning my vote literally didn't count. Yay America....

I agree about keeping Palin as far away from any serious decision-making as possible, but I do disagree a bit. Obama would have won in '08 whether Palin was on the ticket or not, for 2 reasons: the color of his skin and the corrupt disaster that was the Bush administration.

This is why the Electoral College is a stupid idea. The US should elect a President based on popular vote only. I don't know what the final number was on the popular vote, but at least that way everyone's vote would count, even those who come out on the losing end.
