The Star Wars Toy Haul Thread

Do you collect other toys besides Transformers? Maybe you've got a Masters of the Universe collection you'd like to show off, or maybe you like Thundercats, Voltron, G.I.Joe, Power Rangers, Star Wars, Wrestling, or any of the various comic book toy lines. Please keep the discussions here to non-Transformers toy lines.

I don't think those pictures really do it justice, I need to just go through sometime and take pictures of all the stuff Krissy has painted for me. We have some really spectacular custom Heroclix she's made. Hopefully she's going to make a Classics Thundercracker for me sometime too.

Edit: I keep threatening to buy her a pack of Eldar Harlequins.

Do you still customize a lot?

It comes in spells... Some of those Mandos were painted four years ago when we lived in the dorms, some were painted in our apartment last winter, along with my Vector Prime figure (which is arguably the only thing I've ever done that came out looking how I wanted it to) - seems to be something I do when we're snowed in, so hopefully the Colorado winter will motivate me to do more.

Well she is very good!

Customizing takes practice much like anything else.

But I honestly think your very good!

I've been customizing for going two years, and I look at my older stuff and say "damn i've come a long way".

Wow, that first Bao-Dur seems to be Bao-dur as portrayed by Joseph Merrick.

The second Bao-Dur, like I said when you showed it off several pages back, is friggin' awesome.

Anywho, I hit Wal-mart tonight came across the Saga Legends Saesee Tinn, so I picked him up. Saw the Battle for Geonosis battlepack and the Luke/Mara comic pack. Passed on them, it's unfortunate, the figures in the battlepacks don't seem that great, especially when I only want one or two of em.

The TIE Bomber was never released in the old line, but I'm glad it was made. I got the POTJ(?) version when it came out in Walmart...

The skiff is actually pretty cool for what it is. It has a few play features which should make it a must have for the realistic movie re-enactment value.

And it came with a very forgetable Luke, though. I believe it is 'exclusive' because they re-tooled the hand for the battle damage that happens when it gets shot on the deck of the sail barge.

It'd be nice if a new version came with one of Jabba's skiff guards, but perhaps differently painted or sculpted.

I had heard that there was going to be a new TIE BOMBER released somewhere, but I wasn't sure where, and I can NEVER find Walmart exclusives in my area, they are always gone, and sometimes never even seem to show up. So now I can skip it, even if it is a target exclusive, unless it has some wicked cool paint job, or a really cool figure included.

That's one thing about Star wars for me. The characters are cool, but I really liked the spaceships and vehicles. That's what most of my current collection consists of, my favorite vehicles.

By the way, I want a 3 3/4 inch Tri-Tie, it's like the Interceptor, but has three equally spaced wings around the center 'eyeball' point. I'm sure you SW guys know what I am talking about.

That tri-TIE, wasn't that in the old TIE Fighter PC game?
I think it was called a Defender or something. I still have
that game somewhere. That would make an awesome toy.

I bought a second Obi-Wan & Alpha comic pack. I plan to swap
out Obi's head with an extra Episode 3 pilot Obi-Wan.
I would just need to repaint the Episode 3 pilot body's legs
and boots, since they were a much lighter tan color and a
reddish color in Episode 2, respectively.

I also noticed that Obi-Wan's lightsaber has a bit of a
sparkle fleck in the blade. The newer sets (I saw four today
and checked their date stamps) seem to have stopped shipping
with the flecks. It's a shame because it looks better.

Still no new figures. More Saga Legends clogging up those
pegs though!

Yeah, I think it was from that game. I actually have the microship version of it, when it came out, some ten or more years back.

The TIE Defender is actually one of the Decepticons' alts in Heavy Metal War. Or at least it was at some point. Predacons are going to get it for v2.

The Skiff is nifty; I'd only change three things - remove the break-away function on the railings, make the landing gear transparent, and add a small deck gun.

And yes, he's wearing a WH40K Space Marine backpack.

It just looked better on him than the standard Mando jetpack.

Also, the visor on the helmet is really off (probably because I speed-drew him at work this Summer) but you get the idea.

Grabbed the latest issue of Legacy.

Spoilers:

It's a mixed bag. I felt that Hett's reaction to the purge was a logical extension of the character, and a creative direction on the part of the writers.

However, the move Obi-Wan uses against Hett when they face-off sort of leaves you going "WTF?" But then, considering what was at stake, it's not inconceivable that he would sink to that.

Also, I'm not really sure the events described really explain Hett's motivation for repurging the Jedi and conquering the galaxy - but considering the emotional pain caused by the consequences of his fight with Obi-Wan maybe he just has enough anger/hatred. I guess I just miss the loftier goals of Revan (tragic hero who sacrifices his soul for the good of the galaxy), Bane (religious fanatic who believes in evil for the sake of evil), and Palpatine (a classic 80's super-villain megalomaniac - but successful).

For all of his awesomeness, Krayt just seems to want revenge on everyone. That's the way it comes off to me anyway. I guess another way to look at it is that he has created a new family for himself, to replace the one Kenobi took from him, and is simply running his Sith Order the way he would run any Tusken Clan - aggressively.

Nice to see Talon get her cute little tattooed butt kicked again. She's really kind of annoying. I get the strange sense she's going to become Krayt's Starscream though, with lots of abandonment and daddy-loves-Cade-more issues...

My wife hated it - pretty much because she loathes Cade, and he keeps getting worse. Given the pace of things though, he has to get redeemed pretty soon, unless they've been planning all along to have Cade be the central villain of the ongoing series - which would be novel.

Starting the series 16 issues before the creation of the primary antagonist would be interesting.

Wow, OTC Leias are still around? Sometimes I find the Han Endor VOTC figures, but not the first series. She's a pretty good figure though.

The other day I was in a Walmart, and they had at least three cases of Wave 5.1, whatever those are. I should have ripped one open, but I didn't. No one was around either. Is that the wave with Yoda & Kybuck and those video game Darths?

I saw the Saga Legends Boba Fett a few times... I didn't realize that was the VOTC sculpt. I thought about getting one so I could give him a little bit of rework, like making the braided scalps out of thread, and cutting out a bit of his inner bicep so he can hold his rifle better.

Funny... Winamp just randomly played "Fett's Vette" by MC Chris. LOL. I love that song... "I'm faster than a Prior on fire!" :)

Well, I had a super-haul today. (WJ35, I was in the Gulf View area.) Guess I had to make up for not finding anything in my area. I got:

TRU Y-Wing
TRU Interceptor
Umpass-Stay
Luke Jedi
Elis Herlot
M'Iiyoom Onith
Animated Fett

And some non-SW stuff...

Also got the Star Wars Legacy TPB. It collects the first few issues, 1-6, except for #4? Why is that? Well the TPB itself seems interesting. I had $20 on a Borders gift card to use up. I don't read many books, and haven't really followed the Expanded Universe other than the Heir to the Empire and Jedi Academy novels. Thankfully the inside page describes a bit about what's gone on during the forty or so years following ROTJ.

I plan on picking up more of the TPBs. Any recommendations? The old Tales of the Jedi comics always seemed interesting. I like that they (the comics themselves) were made pre-Episode I. Did they ever make TPBs of the older EU stuff, like the Han Solo trilogy (at Star's End, etc), or the Lando Calrissian trilogy of books? I used to like those old books. I know Splinter of the Mind's Eye has a comic adaption. I'll have to get that.

Issue 4 is a side story unrelated to the main plotline.

It's focused on a bunch of Stromtroopers fighting under the Sith against a bunch of Stormtroopers fighting for the Empire. The commanding officers of their respective units are brothers, so everyone involved is questioning their own loyalties - except for the SS Officer Sith Lord responsible for overseeing the battle.

My guess is they plan to reprint the issue in a Legacy: Tales of the Empire TPB, or when/if they continue the story of the survivng Stormtroopers.

Spoiler: The Sith Lord was possibly the shortest lived named Sith Lord ever, in terms of # of pages, until a few issues later when Emperor Fel wastes that other one. I'd have to count the respective pages to be sure though. lol

Ah, thanks for the explanation. I just noticed the inside cover said issues 1-3, and 5-6, and wondered if it meant I was going to be missing out on something because of the omission.

WJ, yeah, I noticed that... longer aisles means more toys right? ;) They did have a lot of room for SW figures. I should have asked if they had more. KB Toys had some of the Wave 4 figures if you needed some... though they're a freakin' $1 more.

I noticed that TRU did not have any of the GI Joe 25th Anniversary figures, other than the 5-packs. WTF?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I also found the Luke & Mara comic pack variant. Mara with a green lightsaber.

I need to take a pic of all three TIE Interceptors and my Y-Wings...

So, I got the newest issue of ToyFare today.

They had a crapload of Star Wars stuff listed.

Toys of the Force Unleashed video game, coming out before the game does. They showed Marid Brood, Battle-Damaged Vader and a Modified Stormtrooper, they also mentioned a Heavy Storm Trooper, a black Shadow Guard and Palpatine getting freaky with the force lightning.

They also showed figures "General Pharl McQuarrie", Tycho Celchu, Fireside Padme, Concept Rebel Trooper, Voolvif Monn(werewolf Jedi), Smuggler Lando, Concept Solo, and Concept Snowtrooper.

Then they showed some of the comic two packs. Including Obi-wan and Bail Organa with babies Luke and Leia. Commander Keller and Galactic Marine, Baron Fel and "Hobbie" Klivian, and Anakin and Assassin Driod

They look pretty spiffy thus far.
