I may not have had as many toys because I didn't have as much disposable income as some others but I had my share. And my uncle who is only three years older than me had more than his fair share as well. Just because people came in later doesn't make them any less a fan than you either.
And the franchise was all but dead until Beast Wars so get over it. G1 wasn't the end all and be all of the franchise. It was a starting point and season 3 was very nearly an ending point too. I'm sick to death of geewuners that think they are the only ones that matter. Yes we were there at the beginning but most of us grew up and left it to younger veiwers. You can't fault Bay for not doing a G1 remake because the Geewuners are not going to bring this movie any money. It is the lowest common denominator that is going to put money in the pockets of the production.
Same here, been there since day one. And I don't have have any rose colored glasses on, we who grew up on G1
did not make Transformers what it is today. Just cuz some kids in the 80's loved doesn't mean it survived solely on us old schoolers. It didn't, it died. Or did
you so conveniently forget anything post 86 movie. Let me refresh your memory: Season 3 flopped, the toys started declining in popularity, kids wanted Optimus Prime, we got Rodimus. Hasbro tried giving us Optimus again, but too little too late too save the series. TFs went out with a whimper, not a bang. How do I know this, I WAS THERE. I watched TFs disappear, and it bummed me out, but that's how it goes. They tried with G2 but it flopped horribly. The next TFs got any kind of popularity again was Beast Wars. So we G1 fans had nothing to do with its continuing popularity, it's ability to draw in new fans has.
For the record Koloth, you are a friggin' genius.
And I will say this. Be offended or not, I could care less, it's my opinion. Geewunners aren't true fans, they are hopeless nostalgics who can't get over the fact G1
DIED in 87. Get over it, I did. And I'm a very happy Transfan for it, I can appreciate the whole franchise, not just one part.
