I just watched the youtube clip and that was cool...You can really tell the passion of the real fans...Only these type of fans can be so angry because TF has a deep place in their hearts...While I didn't feel as strongly after the movie as him (because I had become apathetic at that point knowing what Micheal Bay truly is, which is a human car-engine), but man that was a passionate review, right on the mark in so many areas...It's a shame but we'll never get redemption..

Hilarious, this guy constantly complains about how Bay/Speilberg made the movie "family friendly". I don't get it...The G1 Cartoon wasn't family friendly? Dunno what version he watched.

That guy sure seems to think that Transformers are serious business.

You should be glad your not...So you don't have to feel the contempt so many of us feel...I envy you...I wish I could just sit and enjoy a souless GMC MTV video-commercial as much as the lowest common denominator of the American public in-which I have to bow down to each summer to enjoy anything Hollywood has to offer...I wish I wasn't a true 1984 real fan, that way I could accept this with a generic smile...Unfortunatley I'm cut from the same cloth as this guy and understand his passionate anger that many 2007 Transformer Fans could never understand on any level...

Oh man I SO agree with this guy. He completely summed up how I think about this movie. Especially at 2:20 when he says that people so easily say "the action is great so im fine with it" to excuse the fact that it has no plot.
So yeah. This guy got it right.

I was making fun of him and the concept of what a "true fan" is. I don't consider this moron a "true fan," whatever the hell that means, simply for making a youtube video, one of the single most irritating things on the internet, about his issues with the movie. He's a whiner who wants attention.

edit: And I realize that I misused a cliche line earlier. When I said "If this guy is a "real fan," then I'm glad I'm not." I was going more for "If this guy is a "real fan," then I don't want to be one." I know they're generally the same, but sometimes the phrases get confused. I simply don't agree with the idea that there are levels of fans that make some fans better than others.

As for the youtube, I can't access it from the school computers, btu I got the gist of his stinky arseho... ah... opinions.

Kudos for him having freedom of speech, but its a movie, come on, if anyone is goign to slit their wrists in disgust at what Mr. Bay did to their childhood memories they obviously didn't have a great childhood or they need to be committed.

As for family friendly? Tell that to the parents of the kids who burst into tears behind me when Jazz got snuffed. Tee hee hee

I honestly don't know how anyone in their right mind who is a huge fan can not be pissed off at that film.

I'm a real fan and I loved the movie. Idiots like this make me laugh. He obviously doesn't realize TFs exist beyond G1. He probably pissed and moaned that Megatron wasn't a gun the whole time in the theater :lol:

What definition of "real fan" are we using here? I think a real fan would find something to like about every series and or movie. And you wouldn't nitpick it just because it wasn't the same as what started it 23 years earlier. If worse comes to worse you just take your money else where to let the company know how you really feel.

Heck I'm a real fan of Star Trek, clearly. I didn't like Enterprise. But I don't sit around and bitch and moan about it claiming that it ruined my childhood or destroyed the franchise. I don't pick it apart and point out every inconsistancy in it. I watched a few episodes decided that I didn't like it and voiced my opinion to Paramount by turning it off. As did many other fans which is why it was cancelled. Many fans disliked Voyager but clearly not enough to turn it off. When they put on good shows or made good movies I plopped down my money to buy the toys and the DVDs. When they didn't I didn't.

But if it makes you feel better to bitch and moan go right ahead and be my guest. But don't you dare claim that you're the only real fan because you hate it. That's just BS posturing to try and make yourself feel better when others don't agree with you. And plenty of real fans would disagree with you.

@Koloth - Real fans are people who aren't settling, who aren't telling themselves to go into the movie with low expectations just to enjoy it, who aren't compromising because their 7 year old is enjoying smashing Robots so they tell themselves this was great...Who aren't coming up with the mentally pathetic excuse of "What did you want an Oscar-worthy plot?" when people are just asking for a plot that makes sense...Who aren't coaxing themselves into an illusion of "I'll support the movie because it's better than no Transformers at all" ,...Well to alot of us "real fans-true fans" (take that however you will)all that's a crock and we rather nothing over rapeage...

But like I've said before, either you feel it or you don't...It's not like I predicted 23 years ago I was gonna be pi$$ed at a Transformer movie...It just happened and hoards of my 1984 brethren feel the same way...They refuse to suppress their raw emotions to somehow put a positive spin on some of this...The guy in the youtube clip is quite the same...The dude is just spewing his raw, unfiltered opinion rather than being an apologist or spinster for Bay, or Bayformers, or Transformers...and I for one respect that a helleva lot more than these born in 1988, G1 loyalist telling us to calm down...There's a reason why so many "real fans" don't get why we continue to b!tch and moan..

I don't have a billion to do the movie in a more pleasing way; all I have is this keyboard and while I'm shootin' the breeze I'll leave a record for the movie-seekers of the future so that when they Google some Trans-Movie info or reviews atleast some percentage of individuals will know a huge part of the fanbase that made making this movie RELEVANT felt it betrayed us...

The way you feel when you hear us moaning is the way I feel when I hear you and people of your ilk go on about how fantastic this movie is...But that doesn't even really tick me off as much as these g1ners (of whom I've only come across a couple) who spin and contort their body in every direction to apologize or suppress their real feelings..I'm a big fan of speaking how you feel and this guy did that and for the most part I understand his frustration and that it's coming from a place of respect for Tranformers and what it really meant to so many of us...Not that you don't respect it Koloth, but either you feel this emotion or you don't...This $hit isn't an act, it's pure-honesty...

There is no such thing as a "real fan." There are simply fans that like various different things about Transformers and its many versions.

Someone is not less of a fan because they like something different. The first link on that page says it best:

There is no such thing as a "True Fan". There is only "Fan". Any measurement of fandom is arbitrary and personal AT BEST. What you know, what you own, or what individual aspects of TFs you like does NOT define whether one is a "Fan" or not, and frankly, doesn't make anybody a bigger or better fan than anybody else.
