Also. I have like 46 processes running. What ones can I turn off in msconfig while still having the system run. I know in XP you could turn off about ten and still have it boot up fine.
Oh and one other thing. In MSconfig I found a check box to turn off the volume shadow copy. It's under Services. Sadly the system goes apeshit when you do that.
First: did you check

Second: Trying in msconfig won't hurt if you only put the tick out. If you don't like it than you can put the tick back in. I put out things like quicktime, automatic updates from other programms than windows.
Last: Is there in My Computer (Right click) still the word Control (beheren)? Look in Sevices for shadow copy.
