Ya gotta love all these folks who were just sooooo positive we would never see these released now eating cyber-crowacon. I think this proves that with TakaraTomy, ANYTHING is possible. Hell, we could see evil Prime and good Megatron at some point over there. The bottom line is TakaraTomy OWNS the Transformers and will do whatever the hell they want with them and all the cybergeeks in the world saying stuff like, "Well Botcon owns those Thrust wings outright so we will never see Thrust," is asinine. Granted, they have a healthy respect for fandom, putting these last 4 Seekers out proves that. And having said that, I don't think they would ever license regular, popular characters to be Botcon exclusives. It's just insane. Now if only they would reign in the increasingly large sets being sold at Botcon. At this rate, by 2010 the sets will be up to 100 figures.

No offense, and maybe I'm just tired, but for some reason I had to stop reading this thread at your post because you seem to be acting like a huge weiner. I thought this thread was the tamest and most charitable I've ever seen a discussion on this topic, and then, as one who also owns the Botcon set, I come away from your post with the labels "asinine" and "insane" simply for thinking that something sold as an EXCLUSIVE would actually remain EXCLUSIVE. That's why many like me bought the Botcon set in the first place...
I think you'll find, though, that most of us Botcon buyers are happy that others can get their hands on these, especially since they're different enough from the Botcon set. But I also think that having a bit of sour grapes over the whole lack of exclusivity thing is no cause to be basically referred to as a whiny, insane ass. But, if me "eating cyber-crowacon" is how you equalize the collector's market, then.
Again, maybe I'm just too tired to be replying right now, but your comments left a bad taste in my mouth. Or maybe it's just the crow.

El Duque wrote:As the guy accused of having a case of "sour grapes" it bothered me as well. I have no problem with the Henkei releases of these figures, and I am glad that this puts these figures in the hands of more collectors. I merely suggested that I would be upset if the Botcon seekers ended up getting a mass US retail release. Reason being I paid 280.00 to complete my seekers and a mass release would have allowed me to complete them for about 30.00. In the same post I conceded that I've had my seekers for two years and that pretty much made up for the high price I paid.

That really made me laugh! Props to you

Yeah, I thought you were pretty reserved and fair with your take on the whole thing. You've sort of summed up my feelings on the whole fiasco, too. Some people apparently just like being right and then reminding everybody about it.

Realistically if when the Botcon set was announced they had issued a disclaimer that stated these figures would be available two or three years down the line I would have still bought them. Foolish perhaps, but worth it to me anyway.

These are Classics Seekers, or Henkei Seekers, or whatever you want to call them. But this Thundecracker, Dirge and Thrust, are NOT the Botcon Seekers, so we should really ditch the complaining all around. Not saying you guys are, but I'm just saying. Henkei TC is Henkei TC, and Botcon TC is Botcon TC, they are not the same. When people talk about finally getting Henkie Seekers, that's exactly what they're getting.....it's like getting Hasbro Cybertron Megatron to finish your Galaxy Force collection.....you have Megatron, but it's not quite the Galaxy Force MEgatron. We Botcon owners still own the Botcon seekers, so what really seems to be for debate is price and not the items. So, that's pretty lame.

I haven't said anything on this matter yet, my opinion on the matter is well documented, though I do have these new figures pre-ordered already. In short, I've always said it was nigh impossible for these toys/figures to see a post-BotCon release. Then, after talking with FunPub directly and finding out it was possible, I still didn't think it would happen based on 10 years of it not previously happening.
Here's the thing about this release that is so odd, that Takara is going to the length of making new molding for these figures. All things considered, the one thing I have learned in all of this is that the line of explanation Hasbro gives to us in regards to production and costing information is just not credible.

Bingo. Go back and read what Hasbro answered to most of those BotCon questions and you'll see that most of the answers were blatant lies. I remember when someone asked about reissue Soundwave, they answered it would cost too much and never see a release. Someone with their knowledge of figure costs and pricing should have known a better answer than that. I'll never buy a BotCon again because they simply proved to me that there really is no reason to buy one (this doesn't mean I won't attend BotCon, but there is no reason to buy one, though I'm sure I said if I'd buy it just to sell it on e-bay I'd get a **** storm of responses calling me a scalper).

MagnusPrimal wrote:Aren't the figures included in the price of going to the convention? I don't know, since I don't attend, but I thought that's how it worked.
Sowndwave76 wrote:Yeah, as far as Hasbro being credible,
look at the Classics figures in general...
I still cannot believe that someone/some group for Hasbro truly thought that there would NEVER be a time to release more Classic, G1 characters...
considering the low number of deluxe and voyager molds in those first waves,
that idea, statement, whatever, just makes zero sense.
I just hope for everyone's benefit, that Hasbro never releases any original-to-G1 characters in Botcon sets again.

Basic entrance fee was $10.
