Weapon:
Switch Blade Tail
Got mine in today.
Here's the rundown on mine:
All pieces were there, and the correct ones. Pins too. (Previous reviews had me worried.)
The color scheme of the original is much more appealing, this one tends to blend together for the most part.
Some figures are too tight, others are too loose.
Some of the assembly is nice and tight, some of it's not only loose, but it's incorrect. For example, one of the rear legs on Snaptrap has it's metal post coming out and the leg's screw needs to be tightened. I've got some work to do on this guy. Not to mention, his head is put on at an angle, so his face looks to the left a bit instead of straight ahead. (This is probably fixable, but irritating.)
I owned God Neptune and now that I have Piranacon's reissue, I'm seeing what the people were talking about. It's not just a case of mold degradation, but the original molds were flawed.
This set is definitely imperfect. It doesn't help that Hasbro used KO level plastic on some of the pieces. The backside of Snaptrap's shield? Warped and wrinkly and thin, much like a KO.
Sometimes when I combine them, I worry that the connectors are going to break, heads or posts. In fact, the left arm of Piranacon can't be moved. It's so tight, I was sure it was going to snap the head off of Seawing. (I ended up moving Snaptrap's entire arm just to reposition it for posing.)
Some of the figures are in excellent condition. Some have floppy fins, ill fitted body pieces with gapping. Some are a mess, such as Snaptrap.
For the accessories and the good figures alone, the price is worth it. I do recommend buying the originals of the figures that do have problems, and just use the reissue pieces with them.
The set's not a total wash, and I'm not sorry I spent the $60.00, but it's not quite up to par as I had hoped.
I'll give it a B-
The packaging, however, is gorgeous. The chrome on the box and the sword just makes him looks dazzling in the package.
If you're looking for an affordable Piranacon with all the bells and whistles, this is your ticket. If you're looking for perfection, you'll be seriously let down.
I'm just glad it wasn't as bad as some of the other sets I've heard about. Diem got the short end of the stick on his.
