I come off saying it was terrible in two ways. 1. I have studied the writing process, and am writing something myself. I recognize bad and lazy writing when I see it, and this movie had it. 2. I have seen lots of movies in my time, and this movie did not measure up to very many of them.

BumbleBee217 wrote:Grow up and stop focusing on nitpicking about everything.

Wow, I should grow up because I thought the Transformers movie was lame. That's a new one. I'm 27. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that's older than you, but I could be wrong. Either way, it seems the older people get who I talk about the movie to, the less they liked it. So grow up what?

And I'm only nitpicking because the topic came up about why it was a bad movie. Normally I'm content to say "it was okay I guess", but hey, the topic came up.

That's not what we're complaining about here. I applaud the changes that were made to the mythos in the name of realism.

Doesn't change the fact that the writing was lame.

BumbleBee217 wrote:I loved it and a lot of other TF fans loved it. The rest are just haters.

Exactly. If you don't like something, you must be bad.

BumbleBee217 wrote:Be happy for the fact that your love for TF was made into a blockbuster movie from a great director instead of complaining like spoiled little brat children.

Oh okay. I'll just be thankful for something, just because it happened. Right I forgot. Blockbusters are the pinnacle of greatness and Hollywood is sacred and cannot be doubted. I should be grateful and get down on my knees for everything they do.

Actually, human beings are flawed creatures and it's very possible for someone to make crap even though they're granted a budget and millions of dollars in profits.

You grow up kid. I did not care for the movie. I've explained why and you don't have to agree. I wouldn't have either, when I was in high school.

Haters?
What about fans who are neutral towards the movie?

And come on, haven't you noticed the pattern?

When Beast Wars was released, half liked the concept, half went screaming "Trukk not munky!"....

When the Movie was released, half liked the realism, half went screaming that it was too different from the G1 cartoon.

When Animated started, half accepted it, while the other half hated the "kiddy artstyle"....

This, in case you dont realize, is called a difference in opinions...

i feel like i am hammering my head against a solid brick wall every time i read this crap that is spouted on here about the movie.

The script was an absolute joke, it was cringe worthy in places, but i dont care, i think the film was awsome. My gf, used to hate Transformers, she now loves it, and watches G1 and any other dvd i have. Her parents who are 51 and 53 (so a bit older than you zarak) used to laugh at transformers for being sad and childish. I pursuaded them to go see the film, and came out loving it, and cannot wait for the second. The gf's brother, hates sci fi, transformers anything like that........once again LOVED the movie. I have a very big friend network, over the internet, via work, via the football team i go to watch every week, via the 30+ people i do tae kwon do with, then add on the people down the pub etc, and i dont know a SINGLE person who doesnt think the film is great. Zarak btw, once again, i work with a hell of a lot of people over the age of 27, heck i have 11 people in my family over that age, all of whom have seen the film many times and love it.

I post on the message board of the football club i support and its the same on there. we are second in the league with 11 games to go and people still complain. Ive come to the conclusion that in todays age, there are some people so either bored or starved of attention that they have to go way ott when making statements about their opinions. I dont mind if you hate the film, hey, thats your choice but please dont start throwning comments about how you'll never be able to watch again because of how mb MADE shia hang from the damn building, because in my eyes it tells me without reading what else you say that your an idiot.

The film has many many cons, i could name them all day, but i think the film is great in spite of these things, just like the terminator or demolition man, judge dredd, all the kind of crap movies, but the difference being, Transformers is now more popular than probably any of those movies, yet the origional fans, can only try and rip its success to piece's. Man i pity some of you people

Preach on man, Preach on! I feel the same way you do. Loved the movie. Best movie i ever saw. Cant wait for part 2. Mike Bay is great for the Transformers universe. I dont think anyone else could have made this movie the way he did. He has the vision of how it should look, feel, and be. I pictured this movie for years since it was a rumor, But BAY just brought my thought of this film to a whole new level. Michael Bay didnt ruin my childhood, He brought it to life! Well fair enough. It definitely had its cool parts.

But there is a difference between saying you loved it and everybody else should grow up for not liking it.

I'm not gonna read through all the posts that have been made and i'm too lazy to quote you so here it goes.

You said someting about Optimus not being as courageous as the original, correct?

Did you forget about the part where he told Sam to stick the AllSpark in his chest, overloading his spark, and killing him (most likely in a very violent manner)?

Also, you shouldn't come on a transformers forum, filled with hundreds (if not thousands) of transformers fans, bashing a transformers movie, and expecting many to agree with you. there might be alot of people here who dislike the movie but c'mon. the movie appeals to all sorts of people, which probably means that most transformers fans liked it too.
no
sorry if any (or all) of that makes no sense.

Ether your very young or you just dont catch a lot of films.

Like I said in an earlier post....I liked them film, a lot as a matter of fact but its by far no where the best movie I ever saw.

Could this film been better???? Hell Yes.

Could it have been written better????? Again Hell Yes.

Was it what I always dreamed a TF film would be???? No

Could it have been truer to the G1 mythos???? Again Hell Yes but as soon as I realilised that it wasnt going to be G1 I desided to judge Bays film the same way I judged every TF toon to come after the G1 toon.

And when you look at it that way its really not a bad flick and its not a bad TF brand.Yes the film had lots of plot holes and bad writting but that can be said about every TF toon to date.

Was it even the best film made that was based on a fiction from a different medeium????? No it was not.

Was it the greatest film I ever saw????? Far from it but its far from the worst as well.

I did think the movie was too oversexed to be rated PG-13, it was trying to be the American Pie of Sci-Fi movies pretty much.

Anyways, when does the guy get skewered by Scorponok? I missed that part I guess.

It was very early on when Scorponok first attacks the survivors of the Qatar base attack when they flee out into the desert, the big sign gets knocked over and the guy that turns around and says "what was that?" is the one that gets skewered about 30 seconds later if even that, it happens very quickly as I'm sure they did not want to show too much gore.

How was it American Pie? Dude these two are complete opposites. If it's the masturbation line then get over it. It was funny and it depicts teen life quite well. Don't like it? Then go in the hole with all the other soccer moms. Sorry to rant but soccer moms tend to irratate me.

It's a action movie. And my point is just proved by what you said. A movie with giant robots that transform. People are acting like this movie should be like the magnitude of the godfather or something. It was a fun action popcorn movie that kicked ass. Im sick of people who didnt like it acting like the movie was bad when it wasent. It was great fun. People need to lighten up and stop bitching all the time. The transformers where brought to life and instead of being happy you complain. Say what you want but part 2 is coming and i cant wait!!!!!!!

To stick my nose in here, in my opinion it was a good movie. Not a good Transformers movie, but it was a good movie.

I also never saw Prime as being cold or not noble or whatever. The scene where he snaps at Jazz after Bee gets captured keeps popping up in my head. Sure sounds like Prime's pissed at himself for letting one of his men get caught to me. But maybe that's just me.

But yes, I agree that the movie had a lot of cringe worthy parts. Bee peeing on Simmons? Okay, I admit the first time I laughed but after that it wasn't so cute. It was disgusting. But it does have its cool parts.

As for product placement woes, people. We live in a captalist world for the most part. Money makes the world go 'round so of course theres going to be product placement up the yin-yang. Watch any movie that isn't a Sundance indie film and you'll find product placement.

As for the issues of sexism and racism, you guys must be in AP English. I didn't see any sexism or racism. I guess because even though I like writing human-formers fan fics I still don't identify the Transformers as being inherently any race, not matter their manner of speech or VA. As for the Fig thing, I have a Hispanic friend who does the almost exact thing that he did in the movie. We yell at her to speak English not because we're racist but for all we know she's asking us if we want to by a toilet. True story that one. As for sexism, please go back and watch the 86 movie. I'll bet you'll find globs of sexism there too.

But think whatever you wish. Its what makes discussions like these fun.

It was a fun action popcorn movie that kicked ass. Im sick of people who didnt like it acting like the movie was bad when it wasent.

You have to remember, though, that the people who didn't like it probably did think it was a bad film. You can't expect people who didn't like it to act like it was good. This is all about opinions.

Not everyone who disliked the movie bitches about it. When we first saw the film, some of us pointed out both what we liked and what we didn't like about it. Ultimately, I thought it was a bad film but that doesn't mean I did't appreciate what [I thought] was done well.

Sto_vo_kor makes good sense.

As for the sexism thing, I think it might be in there but I can't remember the film in enough detail. If it is present, it certainly wouldn't be the first time for Transformers (one can argue it's present in so much fiction, anyway).

Yes, of course!

I just wanted to clarify my earlier post: I am not saying sexism (or racism) is definitely present in Transformers fiction, just that it can possibly be argued that it is. Conversely, it can probably be argued that it isn't, too. Such is the nature of analysing fiction, I suppose. People can find evidence for one school of thought in a text, while other people will find evidence arguing the counterpoint in the same text.

I cant.

"Best summer blockbuster movie of 2007"???? Maybe

Well, I did say "depending on how you want your blockbusters". Who can really account for taste in these things.

Die Hard was the best summer 2007 action movie.

But it just pisses me off to see people act like a movie like this was the best of all time. Hello? Trainspotting? Schindler's List? Citizen Kane of course? Departed? Good Shepherd? Good Will Hunting?

There's a difference between the best, and your favorite. Your favorite movie is something you love to watch over and over and get pleasure out of it all the time.

But serious dramas about the human condition, suffering and overcoming it, these are things that so many more people can appreciate, on so many more levels than cool action can provide. Intellectual levels. To say the TF movie was the best, you are either not very smart, very naive, very young, or very sheltered.

To say it's your favorite, because it was cool and no other reason, or because you like technical stuff about it, well more power then.
Buy my RiD toys! They're awesome, I promise!!!!

moldavite wrote:Also, though I tried to view this movie with very low expectations, even I was disappointed. This movie would have been much better had the humor been less prevalent, slapstick, and stupid and had more focus been placed on the movie's namesake: the Transformers. Instead we get an uncaring, insensitive, and less courageous Optimus Prime, among other Autobots, who needs the U.S. military to save his hide. This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It just isn't a bad Transformers movie. It's a bad movie period that insults the intelligence of every American and helps to further our already awful reputation worldwide.

This movie does not need a sequel! Not unless the sequel basically screams "Ignore the first one!" In otherwords, in order to rescue this horrible flick, it can't be just good! It has to basically expel bodily fluids all over this shotty attempt and contain NOT ONE (military propaganda, slapstick humor, sexism, racism, etc.) of the errors this first shotty attempt had. Only then can a series of Transformers movies stand a chance of being viewed as something respectful to this and future generations.

Pretty much how I felt about it.
Dumbass-hollywood crap.

"But I'm not a soldier!"
"YOU ARE NOW!"
Honestly, I don't expect lines that bad from the radio adverts in GTA.
