I agree missions should be a risk. But I think the difference in ability between L0 and L3 is too great to warrant having them in the same mission. I think it would be better to break it down into:

L0 (to give the beginners a safe haven to get started)
L0-L1
L0-L2
L1-L2
L1-L3
L2-L3
L2-L4

That is my $0.02

I have a bot who will be L4 soon (or possibly today if I reset him and redistribute his abilities). By next week I will probably have another.

Problem is that too many brackets will leave certain levels missions empty of opposition.

0-1 is needed, thats for certain and a beastie faction missions vs a G1 faction need to be reduced in both numbers and frequency, but genrally, two-level brackets at least need to be kept to encourage both growth and challenge.

Besides, as we slowly meander towards the endgame for V1.9, there will hopefully be bigger targets to shoot at. ;)

Repeats red's trademarked mission plan:

Im not too bothered about the level spread, Im sure you guys can work that out ok, but I'd like to see a bit more veriation in participating numbers.

Ie:
A 10v10 bot v con mission to reduce flooding of beast missions.
The other bot v con mission/s the standard 6v6

A 4v4 all beast mission (for obvious reasons), maybe 6v6 too, under no circumstances should we have 10v10, there's just no call for it.

Tag team missions at every level between every faction (becuase I used to love those, especilly at lower levels, and becuase they not very hard to fill, and even if it's 2v1, the one can often win).

Then sprinkle the normal smattering of 6v6 and 4v4 cross era missions.

No.
Again, if you want to fight just the same level, go to the arena.

I fail to understand why tag team missions would be a bad thing? As long as they arnt as frquent as the other larger missions (much as they were last time) then they wont stifle the larger mission's supply of combatants. You could have em cross level, but I dont see the point. And the simple fact is, they were a hell of a lot of fun, I always enjoyed taking part in them, and when you're the only pred online, and dotn wanna resort to the arena, they are the best chance of you getting out of a missions victorious.

That dosnt answer my question, all it is is repeating a statment, without any real reasoning behind it, nor any acknoladgement of the points I have put across.

My point still stands, there are times, in every faction, when there is next to no back up, and in those times, it can get very depressing getting constantly wipped out, tag team missions are a very elegent way to get round that problem, especilly for the beast factions, that need more small missions.

Jeep? wrote:Cross level tag-team missions could work though.

Hmm, I dunno, could be worth a try though.

Come on people, I'm sure I'm not the only one who really enjoyed the old tag team missions back in the day.

In 2-3 threads I've requested tag-teams; dropping all other single-level missions is fine.

I will agree with Red* not on the Beast backup but that tag-teams are fun. They were a great way to build inter-faction friendships / intra-faction rivalries and left for some really good competition. Tag-teams also let the new-to-a-level configurations have a good shot of standing on their own with a more seasoned configuration in that level. They seem like a very good idea for inclusion.

Yes, tag teams are fun. But we have a policy that missions are always to be cross-level. Always. So the only tag team missions would have to be cross-level, and that's that. I'm all for their addition, as I like them and the beast factions need a few smaller missions for when nobody's online.

So it's a decided rule not just a preference; that certainly clears things up. If there are others we should know before arses-of-selves are made feel free to share.

Cross-level tag-team is very good if it's one level (1-2, 2-3, 3-4...). Adds a new element to "testing your metal" by directly challenging the bigger enemies without interference ("stupid higher level of my own faction getting the kill first; curse you!", etc.); I vote cross-level tag-team win.

Oh, it'll only be one level spread, we don't want there to be too many situations where a lone lvl 1 is facing down the business end of two lvl 3s, or anything like that.

I must be one of the few people who actually DON'T like the tag team missions anymore.

And i'm the one that created them.

I think it all comes down to seeing your creation used by GR & Rice-Ci to rape the game, that kinda leaves a bad taste in your mouth. :-(

Let me guess. A "gentlemen's agreement" between two opposing factions, to go 0 str, X end, 0 spd, X int and X repair and just milk all the time in the mission gaining mad xp off each other's teammate without the possibility of getting killed.

Broken and stupid. Tag team missions should only always be up to L2s.

Actually they were only done up to level 4, but at GR's request, higher levels were added.

That's my biggest gripe with them, while they're fun, they open things up to exploitation and exclusivity/elitism.

XP must be earned. It may be earned in much higher volumes at the end, but it will still always have to be earned.

And I'm still not adding Tag-Team missions, cross level or otherwise, if for no other reason than they just become somewhere for Rammers to bully 'stupid' players who don't read the forums.

Ah, the hints about there being "bigger targets to shoot at" etc. near the endgame and the ridiculous weapons being tested last week. I linked that to past XP grants by OS and I'm really hoping the endgame wouldn't get decided by pure luck but by the hard work put in over the last six months.

If people haven't noticed i'm still using my "big gun", I just switch it from bot to bot and only use it during certain hours of the day.

Think of it as "you never know when something big is going to show up".

For the most part the six months of hard work will be the major factor, but you might have to work a little harder because of what may be at stake.

And I just tossed out an idea for also remembering what will be six very long years of this game. There's a lot of good history that can be remembered and i'm hoping some of it can be showcased, even if it means resurrecting fanfics, artwork, kitbashes or entire characters.

Whislt I cant deny that that happened, it has to be said that that was a fair time ago, and a lot of things have been done to stop that happening again (least of all being banning those responcible).

It's in the past, we cant change it, but we can ignore it.

Amen! Those of us that have worked very hard this round would appreciate our efforts to not have been for nothing.

Will the increased XP granted to level 1's be granted to level 3's and above also? If not, the end result will be the same.

Relax! Sheesh! I didn't say anything about you guys not knowing how to run tournaments. Of course, there IS the sudden disappearance of Tammuz at the beginning of HIS tourney, lol

Burn said somewhere that L1's would get 15k xp per missions or something crazy. That's what I was referencing... yes, I'm too lazy to find the exact quote..
