If Hasbro made they're own Exhaust, I'd think they'd change the distinctive triangle shape rather than the color. Something like that Legion Wheeljack posted before; an obvious enough homage for us, but legally different enough.


.... That's assuming Hasbro even touches this bot. Between this and the whole Breaking Bad thing I could see them skipping Exhaust.

Alcohol companies and tobacco companies have totally different laws to abide by. The tobacco companies got the worst of it due to the Master Settlement Agreement which was litigated in 1998.

Since the whole thing and even the Wikipedia article is a boring pain to read, here's a summary from http://publichealthlawcenter.org/topics ... -agreement :

"Indirectly targeting youth" is the kicker there when it comes to stuff like Exhaust.

Laws over alcoholic beverage companies are stricter than normal, but nothing like the restrictions on tobacco companies. Big tobacco got hammered due to the perception that they tried to hide the harmful affects of the product, but it was also very much due to lawyers trying to make an outrageous amount of money (which they did). If that last sentence seems a little bitter, it is. Without any other details, the fallout from the MSA directly impacted my family and my hometown and not for the better, it was too harsh imo.

Or just bite the bullet and just order him via overseas online stores. if you go by the Hasbro route, god forbid how long they'll issue one. Among the Autobot cars ,you've got only Prowl.

I hope online stores can use the credit card and age selector menu to get around and import this. It's a fantastic 30+ year homage, which is a loving nod from takara. I do not expect hasbro will have any interest in rocking the boat and trying a USA release. I do however think that just a straight repaint slicer would be a great USA option for them to do a wheeljack release exclusive.

Forgot to mention, if anyone needs a reliable guy to buy these from, PM me for details. Will cost around what BBTS had up iirc (I am not the one selling the preorders).

At this point I'm more concerned about Jazz and Mirage, than I am about Exhaust.

Wouldn't work I'm afraid. As much as we call these by highbrow names such as "adult collectables," stuff like this is classified as a toy under US/Canadian laws when it comes to their importing and selling of these goods.

Frankly, I'd be less worried about Mirage and Jazz.

With Exhaust, we're talking about a distinctive piece of coloring that covers a large portion of his body. Changing it would change the basic look of the figure.

With both Mirage and Jazz, we're talking about small bits of detailing that, if they have to be left off, won't completely kill the figure, and that can also be easily fixed with stickers. (Yes, it is preferable to have the details tampographed directly to the figure, but stickers won't be the end of the world.)

Stickers could easily save Jazz.
0.7% of the US population probably knows what Gitanes are. I didn't. But knowing our luck, Philip Morris or R.J. Reynolds probably owns them.

At any rate, Exhaust is based on a retool of G1 Wheeljack that only appeared in Diaclone and was never released as a Transformer. Given that the Wheeljack mold is broken, a reissue is unlikely, and that a "e-Hobby" G1 Exhaust is therefore impossible, this MP is the best we're going to get for that particular character.

Also take into account MP Exhaust is not originally meant for the US market. The problem mainly comes from US-based sellers where that particular US-law applies.

"Y" and "JZGR" got it pegged accurately. Same with my post. Seems like the only way to get "Exhaust aka Malboor Lancia" if you live in the USA is to just order it via overseas online specialty shops and not pine for a near to impossible Hasbro MP repainting him into another color pattern therebye nullifying the iconic Malboor patterns.

Using Bluestreak as an example is like comparing apples and strawberries. Bluestreak was always silver. Hasbro create a repaint for a product whose original incarnation serves a 4 wheeled running tobacco commercial for the USA market...........not gonna happen. For the Asian market.........maybe. Especially China (Skywarp is a good example), the Chinese and Transformers are like PBJ. They're just crazy over TF.

On a slight deviation, how come no one ever fixated on Red Alert's not accurate artbox depiction of the toy? Bluestreak "blue" on his artbox has everyone cray for that deco while Red Alert actually has a blue painted face and differing missiles when compared to the toy (heck, even in the show, his head module was colored red)

So aside from Blue Streak, who is identified as silver with a black hood, Exhaust aka as Malboor with the red orangey patterns and Red Alert, who isn't actually box art accurate.

Thanks! And wow, I've never heard the entire song.... sheeesh, that jam keeps going and going with lots of music never featured in the show.

I was also surprised how different "songs" I heard on the show were just different portions of this one jam.

I wish there was a way to legally obtain a pristine version of this song ... and all the G1 music. Sigh.

But I digress... glad there are ways to import this to USA. I'm not bummed about it not being an official Hasbro release since the Masterpiece releases have basically been the same price as importing the Takara version.

I DO hope they eventually do a Slicer repaint. It's a pretty deco for the mold... and getting a Masterpiece Action Master would kinda be hilarious. Maybe it could come with a Masterpiece WingThing. LOL.
