If you are receiving this email it means that you have purchased Takara Tomy MP-36 Megatron from The Chosen Prime and we would like to thank you for your patronage. Takara Tomy has yet again made a great stride in innovation and design with this figure. However, with this groundbreaking design, we have encountered a few cautionary issues we would like you to be aware of. After taking a few days with the figure myself and having another copy in the hands of our reviewer Andrew, we felt it was best to proactively let everyone know of these potential issues.
First, we have experienced paint wear and flaking do to he transformation sequence and complexity of the figure. This is something that we have noticed both upon opening the figure and also after a few times through the transformation process. Please keep in mind, The Chosen Prime will not be able to assist with paint defects on this figure so we urge you to be careful as you step through the transformation and know that you may still experience some paint related issues.
We have also encountered a fitment issue when applying the silencer to the barrel. This process caused extensive wear and black “scuffing” on the diecast barrel after only two times of applying and removing it. Due to this, we are recommending that you DO NOT apply this accessory to the figure at all. And again, please be advised that The Chosen Prime cannot fix damage caused by transformation.
If this email reaches you and you don’t wish to proceed with your purchase, we completely understand and will offer a complete refund for the figure at your request. Please send any such requests prior to your item shipping out. If you item has already shipped, please refuse shipment and refunds will be processed immediately upon the items return to our headquarters. If you have any additional questions please let me know.
Sincerely,
Brandon Weik

Paint chips will always be a part of our bane. Back during the die-cast years, gawd I hated those!
No, they won't. This is only a recent problem that has started to show up in the mp line. (chrome wear is a separate issue)

It occurred during the G1 die-cast years. If you deny that never happened I don't know what type of indestructible paint was used on your vintage figs( also, the chrome wear on IH and Hotrodimus seems to be isolated to those figs which I own, UM and MP-10 and MP-08 still have their chrome in pristine condition).
Same thing during the Binatech figs and KIssPlayers Convoy. The latter btw was plastic with a thick coat of paint that still chipped on certain sharp edge parts of the fig.Even in my iPod Optimus Prime G1 colors. The plastic parts had a thick layer of glossy paint applied on them.
It also occurred in my MP 14A anime version. Thigh back joint chipped, during first transformation.
Areas painted over with sharp edges that always experience wear and tear will always have chipped paint. And I hate it but it's a necessary evil to make a fig look nice. Unless Takara shifts back to lead based paint. Lead based paints seems to bond more strongly than the non lead based type.

thats still unexcusable on a $200 figure.
for it being a so called "masterpiece" and "collectors figure" the paint should be spotless and no one should have any qc issues at all. like the coneheads and all their issues. so far both of them have issues and i imagine that dirge will have some kind of issue.

Inexcusable on a "non transforming" figure. For a figure with multiple moving parts i.e. "transforming parts", the best Takara would have done is isolate the painted parts to sections that don't transform which is an oxymoron as the fig is a "transformer".
Intervention suggestions for this conundrum:
1. Don't transform the figure
2. Get 2 figures, one for robot mode, the other for vehicle mode
3. Use G1 Megatron for gun mode and leave the MP non transformed
4. Throw caution to the wind and accept that despite being careful during play, just cry if the chipping occurs
5. Don't buy the figure and crawl up on a corner cry your hearts out.

Slight deviation guys. One toyline that costs as much but don't paint chip easily? Soul of Chogokin.
I remember dropping my Dangard Ace figure accidentally and nada paint chip off (almost caused me a coronary though
)
Applicable in a sense that this particular figure is kind of a parts former. Same with Daltanious. No paint chips yet (again it's another part former) though not that complex as Megs of course. Maybe Bandai is using a different type of paint compound than Takara. A trade secret perhaps?

My SOC Evangelion figs are still in very good shape with no pain chipping. Granted, they've been packed away for a few months now.

Not particularly surprising - doesn't speak to any actual fault in quality of the pieces, but when you've got a figure this insanely complex with that many moving pieces... even if you're very careful, something is likely to not go well.

This was something that I had been anticipating after hearing how tight some of the joints were - especially after cheetor, but that was a case of small pieces being too thin, hose crazy shoulder joints on cheets still seem wholly unnecessary

Specifically the minuscule parts inside the joint of the shoulder, hard to explain what it is and does, but pics were in his thread I believe

He is a skinny one indeed. So the design flaw due to the 'bot's overall appearance? Deviating a bit, if those parts were made metal, do you thing there would be breakage?
I wish Takara would implement die-cast metal as part of their figure's joints instead of ABS/PVC plastics. Iirc Cyberpath too had breakage in his UM's joints.

It was one of the mushroom pegs that makes up his shoulder, but he also has a tiny tab the folds into his actual shoulder joint, but, yes, these are all due to turning into a compact form like megs.

Wow, all of, what, one day? That may be tying cheetor for quickest breakage of an mp (except, you know, cheets cost $75)
There were reports already for Cheetas? Holy sheet! What about the big monkey? Aside from the paint chipping on the lips of the 'bot mask.
Sometime, the overcomplexity of a fig is indeed the downfall unintended consequences during the design process.
MPs are indeed not meant to be transformed multiple times unless you have deep pockets.
