Let the Rumor mills begin! Sellers on Chinese the website Taobao have started listing Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece MP-28 for sale! With a very interesting silhouette(please see image mirrored below)! Who can it be? After thinking long and hard, and with my vast knowledge of all things Transformers, all signs lead me to one bot! Ladies and gentlemen I believe Masterpiece 28 is Hound! Now please take this all with a huge grain of silt as images on Taobao is far from anything official. But it sure is fun to speculate! Well, excellent! Ironhide, now this!? Throw in Mirage, Perceptor, Blaster and the inevitable Ratchet retool, and all my favorite Autobots are covered. But, uh.... We need more Decepticons. They are VASTLY outnumbered in every toyline, but ESPECIALLY Masterpiece.

I'm surprised it's not Ratchet, but I'll take one nonetheless. He can hang out with MP Ravage.

I hope MP-30 will be Megatron finally.

Would they make another gun megatron now though? Plus aside from reflector isn't the only 84' cons left the cone heads?

I do not understand this logic. The Decepticons were vastly outnumbered. They also had precious few unique body types, with more than half the original Decepticon toyline burned through in MP-13, MP-15 and MP-16. Break out the original catalogue's checklist and tick them off. They've even been gifted/bolstered with the addition of MP-09B, MP-10B, MP-13B, MP-23, MP-11S, and Acid Storm. Unless, perhaps you want them to go further and milk the MP-11 mold even further, into more Seekers such as the MTMTE-generics, Hotlink, Bitstream, etc.
In terms of percentage of their roster completed, the Decepticons are far and away ahead of the Autobots.

Well...this was certainly a pleasant surprise to read as soon as I got into work! Whoo hoo. Just like with wheeljack, I can not WAIT to get my hands on this figure.

Wow I did not expect this so soon. I am pretty sure that this is going to be MP hound. I was expecting a retooled Bumblebee into Cliffjumper before this!

The coneheads are 85. The Insecticons and Constructicons showed up on the 1984 season (as did Shockwave) even their toys did not debut until the 1985 model year.

At any rate, they've not been wrong all this time so I'm confident MP-28 will indeed be Hound.

Yeah It would be time to get some cons. We need a Shockwave that isnt 400+$! On top of that Fanstoys is already making a Hound that will probably be superior to what Hasbro/Takara could make.

At least its not a "recolor/retool of Ironhide mold" Ratchet. That will probably be MP-29

If I'm Takara and these Autobot cars and such are making the company good money, then I'm riding this gravy train until it ends on dried up potato mountain. Those Decepticons can Deceptiwait.

Also, heck yeah for some Hound! Hope there's some compatibility for him to carry cassettes.

My nitpick is with the bolded. What 3rd party Masterpiece has been categorically embraced as "better" than Hasbro/Takara?

Wasn't Citizen Stack. Wasn't Carry. Apollyon doesn't directly compare (and is plagued with issues). Most other 3rd Party MP are characters HasTak hasn't touched. FansToys has a legit shot with not-Hound and the eventual not-Grimlock, but the only way I'd buy into the bolded statement would be in direct comparison to the same character(s) HasTak has released...and with what we have I'm just not seeing that.

Takara really needs to get ahead of the curve on product reveals. I feel bad that I'm having to cancel so many 3rd Party Masterpiece preorders lately. Hopefully their next reveal will be Sunstreaker because Omnigonix looksunderwhelming and although I like Badcube, I have reservations about their recent Sunstreaker reveal.
