Ahh. But we don't know that Megatron is dead. Ratchet said it 'could' kill. Not would. That much power at once may have simply overloaded Megs and put him into a coma/enforced stasis-lock.

And being in the deepest, coldest part of Earth doesn't matter either. Biggest plot-holes ever written. "Extreme cold and high temperature will stop them!" Not really. They managed through Deep Space and Planetary Atmosphere easily enough. D'oh!

They were wearing armor during their trips through space.

Yeah. It's plain as daylight. This is one big blackhole plot hole.

The extreme cold under deep ocean is nothing compared to the deep cold of empty space.

And granting they did have some sort of invisible armor, armors don't protect the subject from cold.

What plot hole?

They clearly stated the pressures at that depth would take care of things.

It can't. The absence or presence of pressure doesn't seem to affect them.

Obviously they have no trouble with a lack of pressure but how do you know intense pressure (the kind you'd find at the deepest part of the ocean) doesn't affect them?

They are metal beings. They can take tremendous amount of hard punches, bullets, missiles (It's weird that only Bumblebee is susceptible), and huge explosions.

The pressure per square inch of all these punishments are way above the kind of pressure they will take on under the deepest ocean.

I was writing about the armor they wore during their entry to Earth. (Pieces of it were breaking off as they entered.)

That's exactly what's missing with Megatron.

He travelled thru space, and to earth in the bare Cybertronian jet mode we see in the movie.

That's according to the prequel comics.

Simple fact is, they just didn't put that much thought into it. Careless is as careless does. The acting was dumb, the characterization was dumb, the writing was dumb, the action left a lot to be desired. The only good part of the movie was the special effects.

I have realized why Michael Bay killed Jazz with no "coming back" options... he saw the Animated Jazz Concept... now I can see clearly now!

NO WAY!... Movie Jazz has more potential than Animated version.
Jazz can not suffer more than one dead, besides he already went through one embarrassment moment and that's enough during one transformer life time, so he need to die... rest his spark*

But it's a constant pressure. Under constant pressure most things tend to go crunch.

Large instantenous pressure over a small area, or impact force, is dealier than constant pressure applied over a large area.

This first will create instant destruction. While the second slowly eats away. Obviously, the latter is much more tolerable.

I'm well aware of how pressure works.

But you're also forgetting to factor in the damage to their structures already inflicted.

IT doesn't matter.

For me, it's not the pressure or coldness. It's the salty water that can corrode their internal parts.

I have one phrase to answer any and all continuity problems, as well as why all these characters can come back:

It's a damn movie.

Which may in fact be impervious to such things. What with them being giant alien robots and all.

Then there's not problem at all being dumped into the sea.

Which is why they'll surely come out alive again. At the most dramatic moment.

That's true, and if you think about it, it is as the same way that happens to Nemesis, dumped in the sea... and then... Ramjet, Thrust, Dirge... that has potential; as long as Seaspreay does not rescue them

I take your point about huge amounts of force on a tiny area, but ultimately it's all about Pounds per Square Inch. A high velocity bullet impacts at about 1175.407 ft-lb (from this cool page: http://www.xmission.com/~fractil/math/kp.html). That sucks if it hits you. But, the pressure at the deepest part of the ocean is 108 MPa, or 15,660 pounds of force per square inch of surface. That's crazy, the atmosphere we're all in now is about 15 pounds per square inch.

No, it does not give the series more of an impact. They barely used Jazz in the movie, and he is totally different from the G1 Jazz. So when he died, people were just like "Oh one of the autobots died, what was his name? Whatever, next scene.".

Now if you wanted emotional impact, they should have killed Bumblebee. People had the most emotional attachment to him because he was the sweetest, caring, and most brave little soldier that could. So to kill him off, it stabs the audience straight in the heart and sends the kiddies home crying to bed. And the death needs to be extended and dramatic with Sam looking on in slow motion going "NOOOOOOO!!". Now how is THAT for impact you guys? Perfect. In fact why not just kill off every single Autobot by TF3? It will show the reality that the bad guys(Decepticons), really do reign supreme in the end. Then it will truly be an experience the audience will never forget.
