Cobotron wrote:Hey! You seemed to have attracted a wild Megatronus. They're hard to find, but boy are they fun when you catch one!

Personally, if I had the FOC Combaticons, I would probably only display Blast-Off in robot mode.
william-james88 wrote:So that would also be the case for Predaking, who is also six members.
Arctorro wrote:If they do this guy in retail colours, and combined mode is almost as tall or just as tall as Herc, then I will have found my Classics Combaticons.

Integrating something that is aesthetically different starts with liking the individual figure (obviously there is more to it than that). Do you like the Combaticons as much as Genesis and WFC Prime/Megatron? If not, that might be the reason it is harder to accept them...megatronus wrote:Arctorro wrote:If they do this guy in retail colours, and combined mode is almost as tall or just as tall as Herc, then I will have found my Classics Combaticons.
I've been struggling to figure out whether I can accept them as Classics, which is weird, because I already have done so for Genesis and WFC Prime/Megatron.

Genesis is my Classics Omega because he is freaken awesome, but there is no way I could ever accept WFC Prime and Megatron because I don't like them very much.

Bingo, that's the picture that sold me right there. As soon as I saw that and remembered how he looked in the game, I realized these guys really nailed him and fixed the proportions.
A more prominent piece can definitely require stricter set of personal rules for inclusion in a set.megatronus wrote:I think my standards are just different for big & small figures - the difference between being a prominent focal point in a visual display, and being a minor part of a large, deluxe/voyager ensemble.
Genesis very strongly resembles G1 Omega. The colors are basically right, and outside of being a WFC design, you can say the aesthetics essentially represent a nice, big, and blocky Classics update.
For my personal tastes I'm thinking this Bruticus will go with Herc, Uranos and Feral Rex really well, much better than Intimidator. But, as I said, I really like the FoC molds so that helps my decision a lot.megatronus wrote:Bruticus is very different, starting with the colors, but extending to the actual designs. Where Genesis is blocky, you have a sleek movie influence on the Combaticons, which extends to the gestalt mode. Plus, and this might be the nail in the coffin for me, I would find him out of place amongst more Classics-styled combiners like Hercules, Feral Rex, & Intimidator. But it remains a toss up.
Part of my dislike is the size of them. Optimus and Megatron must be larger on my shelves which is why Hegemon replaced Classics Megatron and Orion is going to replace Classics Optimus. As for the Takara versions, I never paid them much notice (the size reasons) because no matter how good they are, they could never be Optimus and Megatron for me.megatronus wrote:I'm surprised you're not a fan of WFC Optimus & Megatron. I got the Takara versions of both when they were on clearance at TFsource ($30 each), and I couldn't be happier with them. They're just superior to the Hasbro version in this case. Optimus makes a better IDW Optimus than IDW Optimus, in my humble opinion, and I consider Takara WFC Megatron to be the best Classics Megatron to date. With the SXS mace, he is an imposing presence that sums up the history of the character, especially since he has that alien, movie & animated influence to him.
I know that's somewhat contradictory, but what can I say, I like what I like.
*cough* Back on topic *cough*
Interested to see some color renders of this Onslaught alongside the Combaticons!
That's the image that sold me.megatronus wrote:On the other hand, it's extremely hard to argue with this:

Except for Vortex, he's just sexy:
I mean just look at that brilliant G1 style head sculpt, that awesome torso, those vivid colors. Bright red and purple just work and those fluorescent highlights don't hurt one bit either.

Thanks, but if I did, I would only get the limbs. Still debating though.

The limbs are $38 apiece on BBTS... so you're still paying $32 less for the set, and get Onslaught as a bonus.

Yea, just did the math.
Still not sure, I only really collect MPs these days, so I'mstill debating, I just found out that I could afford Unimetal Optimus.
So I'm currently doing number crunching for my oddity shelf; this thing, Unimetal Optimus, or the Black MP repaints. I can only jump for one of those options right now, but currently I'm leaning towards the black MPs.
But damn, that pic does make it kinda hard.

Arctorro wrote:Don't know why it took me so long to do this, but here is my attempt and guesstimating MBC002s height. He has been moved slightly lower than Devastator, to make it look like he is standing in front of him, and appears to be very close to Herc's height.
Hopefully Microblaze will release some actual info with the next round of images
EDIT: I slightly up-sized Bruticus, when I looked closely I felt he 'might've' been a little too short.

Definitely possible, we will find out soon enoughmegatronus wrote:Feels like Intimidator might be half-a-head too short... but who knows?
