Mission brackets (cross level missions etc)

Motto: "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings to randomly click things in the Admin Panel to see what it breaks."
I know this has been brought up in the past, but another discussion about it won't hurt.

Mission bracketing, you know ... what levels can enter what missions.

Something i've noticed lately is that single level missions don't seem overly popular. My level 5's for example have probably met opposition in a level 5 only mission once in the last month or so.

Whereas the cross level missions never seem to have a problem. Though the question needs to be asked, how big should that gap between levels be?

The biggest of course is 1-10. But I think most of us realise that particular bracket is for a bit of fun, lower levels to poke higher levels for some nice xp, and higher levels to see how quickly they can squish a lower level.

Then there's gap between two levels. 0-1, 1-2, 2-3 etc. I don't mind these as they're good "training areas" for those that level up (still have a chance to beat up on their previous level but also earning a shot at their own level)

Then the gaps start to get bigger. 1-3, 3-5 ... not so bad, but can be frustrating when you're at the top end of the bracket and you get nothing but the lower end of the bracket for backup. But that happens, you suck it up and move on.

Then there's the really big ones, something like 4-8 or 6-10. 6-10's aren't bad because by that stage you've got a bot that can hold their own pretty well. 4-8's can be absoloutely murder for a level 4 or 5 at times.

Sooooooo ... what do people prefer and would people like to see mission brackets reigned in (ie, nothing more than across 3 missions except the 1-10's for fun) or just mix up as many different combinations as possible?
And yes, I realise the reset is coming and there won't be a need for high level missions for a while, but i'd much rather deal with it now and not "whoops, better do that seeing as you've all been waiting to level up for 6 months now!" as we had in the past.

single level only missions could be a problem, from the point of view of V2. There could reach a situation whereby people are left with no backup or any opponents till they all decide to level up. And as the old equation goes: No backup + No opposition = Boredom / Barnacles.

I vote we remove single level only missions, and replace with more 2 level span missions! HUZZAH!

IMO only 4-8 missions is a disadvantage for levels 4 and 5, the rest of mission is see fine

As the game stands now, the following missions are not fair when there is no selection to lower level players:
0 to 2 (lvl 0's shouldn't have to deal with someone with potentially 21 upgrades versus their 0 upgrades)
1 to 3 (lvl 1's get mudered)
4 to 8 (most know the problems here)
2 to 4 are muder for lvl 2
3 to 5 are muder for lvl 3's

Ok missions:
0 to 1
1 to 2
2 to 3
4 to 5
4 to 6 (do we have any of these?)
5 to 6
5 to 7
Once you are lvl 6 it doesn't matter

Missing Missions
4 to 6?
6 to 7

So basically mission levels should stay within 1 lvl up to lvl 3 (no 3 to 5), after that they can go by 2 (lvl 4 to 6) & 3+ from lvl 5+.

Then again, if they change the lvling system in V2.0, none of this will matter. HOPEFULLY they use a system of leveling that is closer for upgrades (say 5 upgrades or X amount of XP automatically upgraes you to the next leve).

Level Upgrades
0 0 to 4
1 5 to 9
2 10 to 14
3 15 to 19
4 20 to 24
5 25 to 29
etc.

This allows for alot more levels then the current version.

P.S.
Just a though since we are talking about levels, has there been any thought to possibly putting a temporary level CAP on 2.0 to avoid some people from going too far ahead in levels too fast?
lets say in the new version levels can go up to 20, to start off is it not a good idea to limit leveling to say level 5 until there is a sufficient number of people ready to go to the next level (say expanding it to level 10).
To avoid people who would shoot this down as unfair & boring for those that reach the level max too fast, allow them to "Bank" their Xp until the level "cap" is lifted.

Just a forsight thought :-?

i quite like that idea using upgrades would allow for cross level missions yet keep opponents on a fairer playng field, like someone at the end of level 2 vs. beginning of level 3

but i'm happy with all the missons at the moment the bigger gaps missions tend to give at least enogh enrgon to let you recover and give the chance of fat payouts

I just plunk my cons in missions these days. I prefer the tougher cross level missions over the not so tough ones.

I don't mind missions with levels a lot higher than I am. I actually prefer them over the ones where I'm at the top level. Missions are a kind of a no-guts-no-glory thing: You get a ton of experience by hitting the big guns as long as you can dodge them, too.

Simple but effective. I like it.

We still need that 1-10 though.

I dont think it matters.

In the the end of the day, if you enter a mission where ALL the oposition are at least a level above you, you will probably lose.

I enjoy most cross level missions, if you have a guy with tactics, most of the time even if you lose you will get good xp for higher lvl missions. Simple as that.

As the game stands now. It really dosnt.

I cant say I have seen any real patterns to my losing and winning in cross level and same level missions.

Now, in the next incarnation of the game, it may well matter.
BUT, I think there will always be a place for the 1-10 missions, even when potentially every mission counts. First and formost this game is for fun. If a player wants to screw their faction and put their lvl 1 in a 1-10 that is entirly up to them and no mater how much it may bug you, they SHOULD be allowed to make that choice them selves rather than be told, 'sorry, wont help your faction so these missions are getting scraped'.

Hell yeah there'll always be a place for the 1-10's!

Now that their frequency has been toned down people can't complain they're popping up all the time. That's why when I see one I try to drop the highest possible level in so people can have a crack at some good xp, and I get to beat up on some lower levels*
*Except Subsonika who's too much of a coward to enter those missions or level up. Bloody french.
